Currently I am a volunteer care giving assistant to a young family who's father has stage four cancer. At the times when the parents of this family have to take trips to Indianapolis for treatment they will call me. My job is to look after their two children while they are unable too. I consider my main job to be easing the minds of the parents, I want them to know that their children are in good hands so they do not have to worry about anything more than what they already are.
During my senior year of high school, I began to worry about what my life would be after high school. I knew I wanted to pursue my dreams of furthering my education and obtaining a college degree, yet had no idea what I wanted to become. After researching several careers, I decided I’d attend community college, obtain my medical assistant certificate enabling me to work in the health care field, which would then help me determine exactly what it is that I wanted. Luckily, I took a variety of college courses in high school which allowed me to finish the medical assisting program in one year, instead of two years; which is typical of a community college. I received a job offer at the facility I did my externship and began working a month after graduation.
Staring down at the baby; my baby in his little plastic box, I was overcome by a fear I had never felt before. I would later find out that his box was called and isolate, a special bed for premature babies. His eyes were covered with gauze, he had a tube in his nose that was assisting his breathing, and he was so small. Awestruck, I watched his slight movements. His mouth moved as if he was searching for something. His tiny hands grasped for something to hold on to. I slowly reached my finger to his hand and he clutched it with all of his little might. His grasp sent shock waves of love through my body that I had never experienced in my life. I was a mother.
Before I enrolled in the medical assisting program at Milan Institute, I was working as a medication technician. I decided to go back to school to provide a better future for myself and family. While in the program, there were many times when I wanted to quit but, my support team is very strong and wouldn’t let me.
I recently graduated from Barry University with my MSW and is looking to work for a company that will help me to continue to improve my skills as a clinical social worker. I know that with my willingness and passion learn how to therapeutically assist society's diverse population I will be an asset to your

The career I researched about is a Nursing Assistant. Nursing Assistants help patients with the daily things we do as individuals to help ourselves. The personal qualities and abilities within this job is getting the special things the patient needs in order to be healthy, such as grooming the patient, brushing the teeth of the patient, observing them, helping patients walk, making their beds, and they helping with the bowel and bladder problems for their care. In the United states it is required for Health care facilities to have Nursing Assistants. The educational requirements for a Nursing Assistant is to have a CNA credential and also a state registration. Nursing Assistants need to take programs such as a certificate program in nursing assistance. Usually you may go to a community college to have the proper education needed for the job or you may go to a university. The certificate program to become a nursing assistant takes about 18 weeks or a whole semester. Lastly they need to
My decision to join practicum of health science did not come in a moment of blinding revelation, but as a result of a variety of experiences which began during clinical rotations. During my experience at Kindred and Cy-fair hospital, I gained profound insight into the healing relationship between patient and doctor/healer. While I was there, I delivered many different items that the patients requested such as, jello or water to patients for their afternoon snack. As soon as I brought something as simple as jello into their rooms, their faces, which had previously appeared somber and withdrawn, began to glow. At first, I had believed that this response was in anticipation for the cool, sweet treat; however, I soon realized that this response
Tynan statement, “…you’ll have to push yourself hard to work even when you don’t like it” resonates with me. I have always been a fairly decent student, tried my hardest in all my classes, but for some reason without fail Algebra and I have never connected. For as long as I can remember I have struggled with math, it’s always been my weak link in school. I know may people enjoy math, but to me it’s a lot of work. Now I am having to relearn Algebra and I don’t like it, but in order to achieve my goal of becoming a physician assistant this is the course I must stay. Maybe Tynan is right and by the end of this I will have learned to love math.
The smell of fresh coffee brewing and donuts surrounded me as I strolled into the break room. I was ready for another week of summer camp as a camp counselor assistant. Suddenly, the volunteer coordinator rushed in. She informed me that I was relieved of my position as a volunteer at Children's Museum because I had failed to fulfill my duties. After 4 years of service, I was “fired” because of a lapse in judgment.
My chosen degree program is Associates of Applied Science in Medical Assisting at Kaplan University. I am currently a online student. I have been doing some research of my program and I have came up with a lot of very interesting facts. First the median salary for a Medical Assistant is $28,860 per year that is about $13.87 a hour, that was in May 2010. There could be opportunities it maybe higher, For example, the experience you may have, or the facility you are working in, and even the level of the education that you have (/www. .bls.gov/ooh/healthcare/medical-assistants.htm).
“Everything happens for a reason;” a quote that is told to people as a way to ease the discomfort of an uncomfortable situation. Although the phrase is vague and cliché I have often found solace in it during my pursuit of becoming a physician assistant. The first instance where it was of great relevance was the day that I had lost one of my closest friends at the time to an undiagnosed case of appendicitis that ruptured. I was in sixth grade at the time and this experience encouraged me to mature and pursue life with a purpose. As I entered high school I used this tragedy to excel both academically and as a person. Upon entering college I knew that I wanted to enter the healthcare field but it wasn’t until several learning experiences later I realized that becoming a physician assistant would allow me to provide care in a way that best fit my personality and goals for a career in medicine.
Entering the Medical field as a Medical Assistant showed me that the medical field is the field I want to continue my career in. To me it was the limited options to grow forward as a medical assistant, so I switch my focus to Nursing. I started the nursing field as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)t and did that for two years. Later I obtained my Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certificate. Now, I am looking to pursue a degree to be a Registered Nurse (RN).
I would love to have the opportunity to become a Resident Assistant because I see the many benefits of it. One of them is learning new things, along with meeting new people. Since there are so many different things like cultures and personality’s coming together I know that I would only learn more. I would love to be support system for students, the thing that is most important to me is making myself open to them. I want them to feel like they can talk to me about anything they want. I would say that that is one of my strengths I care a lot. That makes people tell me a lot of their problems, which I love. There is so much that I can get out of being a Resident Assistant however, there is so much that I want to give first, being a safety net for student, teach them about bullying, and help them as they make their way through college and life.
The medical field is a phenomenon that it is forever evolving and rapidly changing. Technological advancements and research published in medical journals are continually revised in order to increase accuracy and efficiency of diagnoses and treatments. It is imperative that every healthcare provider keeps up to date with the most current medical findings in order to provide the best care possible to their patients. Therefore a characteristic that every health care provider should possess is self-motivation to pursue knowledge for personal development to help themselves and others grow. My natural curiosity in life and eagerness to continually educate and improve myself makes me a wonderful candidate for your direct-entry master’s of nursing program.
I have danced around with the many options in the medical field since high school, from paramedic to forensic pathologist and everything in between. I decided on medical assisting because I see it as a step towards other possibilities, a foot in the door to see what I enjoy and will want to do in the future. Medical Assistance have a wide working spectrum and are in many medical areas such as a family clinic, pediatrics, and plastic surgery. Because my goal is a forensic pathologist or autopsy assistant I want to be a medical assistant in plastic or general surgery because I believe it will be a wonderful step towards my goal. As a medical assistant you are held to a high standard of professionalism because the situations you will be working
