Personal Statement: A Career As A Radiologist

Physicians must treat their patients compassionately, listen to their concerns, and act with a good bedside manner.

After graduating from medical school, you must complete four years of radiology residency. This is a combination of specialty medical education and “paid on-the-job training”. You must must complete this in order to become a radiologist. If you prefer you can then go onto more residency, but you are not required.

Radiologic technology is a satisfying and rewarding career. It is a technical and refined science. As a radiological technologist, there are many essential duties and responsibilities that have to be fulfilled in order to be a good one. First of all, radiological technologists have to maintain a well-mannered and professional behavior when gathering information. They have to assure their patients that they are in good hands therefore; they give patients the uppermost quality of care and services. Second of all, the main responsibility of a healthcare provider is to keep all knowledge of a patient’s health record confidential or secluded. That means radiological technologists cannot talk about patients at home or with friends and classmates

One would think that making the decision to attend college would be simple, but for myself this was not the case. I already had a career working for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. As a result, I was able to travel and live in numerous cities that I may not have been able to visit otherwise. Consequently, the past ten years of my life had been spent moving from one mission assignment to another, changing planes, living in hotels and missing countless Christmas and Thanksgiving celebrations. These factors made my decision to come back to college much easier. My new mission is to receive a degree in Radiology Technology.

I am pursuing a career as a radiologist technician due to a number of reasons. It first started with my fascination of the complexity of the human body. In high school I had no idea I wanted to go into the medical field until I took an anatomy and physiology class, and this subject fascinated me. Solving problems and seeing results is something I want out of a career. I am looking forward to the life-long learning that is involved with a job in the healthcare field. As such, I am interested in a specialization in radiology so I can continue my education and provide a higher level of care to ill patients. Caring for the well being of others has always been one of my priorities and working in radiography would create opportunities for me to provide

What has always been your dream career growing up? My dream career has been to be a radiologist, but not just any kind of radiologist an X-Ray technician. In their desired universities, they must take classes such as physiology, which is the study of the way living things function. Pharmacology, the study of uses and effects of drugs. Pathophysiology, the study of abnormal diseases in organisms. Pathology, the study of diseases. Biology, the study of the evolution of living things. Chemistry, the study of organic compounds. Physics, the study of matter and its motion. These are all courses that eager radiologist would have to take in order to become specialist in their desired

Radiologic techs are needed in every care setting. In a career such as a radiology technician offers good salary pay, job stability and a good future for you. The demand on radiology exams and procedures has grown, the country needs qualified professionals to provide medical imaging and radiation therapy.

On August 22nd, 2016 was the first day of several students’ journey to become radiology technicians. We all were nervous and excited to take our first step toward our career goal. We are quickly learning new procedures, techniques, and terminology every day. Our journey has barely begun, but I am enjoying every minute of it.

Radiologists collect medical information from patient histories and other medical professionals, and arrange reports that summarize the patient’s diagnosis. They work in clean, well-kept areas, and may have to share work space with other radiologists or technicians. Radiologists are exposed to radiation, diseases and infections on a daily basis, so protective clothing is required at all times. They can expect to work more than 40 hours a week, which can go into the evenings and weekends. These physicians value achievement, recognition, independence, and achievement, while paying attention to detail, having a concern for others, and having analytical thinking. More than half of the radiologists in America work in hospitals, and all of them work in some sort of healthcare

Career day in 10th grade is the day I learned about the field of radiology. I went home and researched radiology right away. I found radiologic technologist and decided to make this my career goal. I applied to the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences, went through the process, and here I am ready to graduate from the Medical Imaging program. This was my first time setting a career goal and achieving it. This motivates me to continue to set high goals and make plans to surpass my pervious goals. Radiologists is a challenging career that allows me the opportunity to help and maintain good health of my surrounding and community. The Radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries using medical imaging techniques, such as x-rays, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography, and ultrasound. To begin a career in radiology is very interesting and hard because of the number of tasks and pressure is required to be verified by a radiologist. From a young age, I’ve always hated the electronic game system, but I’ve always been interested in how the technology works and how it has brought so much impact on our life especially the hospital technology. Growing up in the village in Nepal technology was very rare, and hospital system was very unorganized.

After receiving a Bachelors in Science with a specialty in Radiology I want to begin working right away. I don’t want to stop there though; I want to work my way to a Doctorate. I hope to earn enough money to support myself and live in Johns Creek where I dream of raising a family.

You talk about the different imaging resources such as ultrasounds, CT scans, nuclear medicine, tomography, and MRIs.
