Physician Assistant A physician assistant work in all areas of medicine. They also help with surgeries. I was stuck between this career and being a paramedic. The reason I picked a physician assistant is because my Uncle Mike is a physician assistant. I have wanted to be a physician assistant since I was about six or seven. The reason I got inspired to be a physician assistant is because my Uncle Mike. He would take me to his work and let me watch all of the things he did. He helped sick people and gave x-rays to people whose joints were hurting. That is why I want to be a physician assistant when I get older. Some of their skills are near vision, explosive strength, oral comprehension, and hearing sensitivity. Near vision is the ability to see details at a close range, like being able to see if someone is sick. Explosive strength is the ability to use short bursts of muscle force to propel oneself such as throwing an object. Oral comprehension is to be able to understand what people are saying when they are sick or have a sore throat. Hearing sensitivity is the ability to detect the differences between sounds that are vary in pitch and loudness (Careers.org). A satisfaction to this job is the pay. The median annual wage for physician assistants was $98,180 in May 2015. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $62,760, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $139,540 (What Physician Assistants Do). I would say this is a better job than being a Mcdonald's employee.
There are some limiting factors to being a physician assistant such as the amount of time that you get to spend with your family and the amount of time you are required to go to college. Physicians work an average of 40 hours a week, not counting the overtime they put in. They also have to be on call just in case something pops up, so if they are at their kids baseball game they would have to leave and go see their patient.
