One of these jobs I will look at is a costume designer. Fashion is of general interest to me, I run a fashion "diary" on Instagram and take a keen interest in it overall. As such, a costume designer might be a good job for me to consider in the future. As one can most likely guess, the main job of a costume designer is to design the garments for characters in the film. They frequently work alongside other members of a film crew including the director, the scenic, make-up artist, wig master and hair stylist. Costume design is vital for numerous reasons, including making a production look professional and extending the characters personality to a physical form. As such it is important that the costume designer gets the design of the costumes …show more content…
A casting director, generally in fairly major to moderate productions such as film or a television series is in charge of much of the daily work involved with pre-production, including casting. Casting would be of interest to me because frequently when I watch films and shows I like to comment on the cast and sometimes talk about different actors I would rather have been cast, or sometimes, especially in the case of already well established characters (such as in major franchises and so forth with are able to be recast) I like to talk about who I would cast in that role. As a result, I like to think I have a generally good basic eye for casting, and should go further in that, so a casting director or someone involved with the selection process of casting may be a suitable job for me to …show more content…
I have written out the outlay of plots and stories before, and creating a plot and storyline for a film or television show is of interest to me. With my creativity, especially with character interaction, character's personalities/looks and so forth, and also with storylines in general, I think this would be a suitable job for me. With screenwriters being a freelance profession, that would be of further appeal to me, as being a freelance would be something that would likely appeal to me. All of this considered, I think a screenwriter may perhaps indeed be a suitable potential job for me in the future; it's a job I could stay at home for and would most likely not require me to have to get up and be somewhere by a certain time, not very often anyway. As such, this profession would most likely suit me
So in addition to directing, are you thinking one day you may do some writing?
I am currently a theatrical stage manager, but I have always had a deep adoration for television. While studying stage management at University of California, Irvine, I was enrolled in a course called “Careers in Stage Management,” in which different speakers with backgrounds in stage or event management discussed both their careers and our potential career options. One particularly inspiring speaker went to school for theatrical stage management and went on to be an Assistant Director Trainee and then a Second Assistant Director. She emphasized the scheduling, organizational, and problem-solving similarities between the two positions. Previously, I had believed that stage management was only a viable career within theatre, but when film and
Producers have financial and administrative control over the making of movies, plays, and TV shows. Producers hire directors, principal members of the cast, and negotiate contracts with artistic personnel, often in accordance with collective bargaining agreement (“Actors, Directors, and Producers” 180). Together with the
Most would likely reply with the design of the costumes for the show if asked how they would define costume design. I define costume design as aspects from art and fashion brought together to form an idea that will eventually become a reality. To expand on this definition, costume design is something that has fashion and art mixed together to create something or someone completely new. Dorothy’s slippers are not only fashionable but are incredibly artsy as well. Dorothy’s slipper have the ability to transport her back to her world.
Kathleen McCaffrey presented an insightful and detailed look into working in television from entry-level to executive positions. Like many other industry executives, McCaffrey emphasized agency experience, but she discussed working at an agency from a much more positive viewpoint. Particularly, I liked what she had to say about having a “30,000 foot view of Hollywood” while working at UTA. When McCaffrey said her job is business-oriented but also involves storytelling, I felt confident in my decision to enroll in the Business/Cinematic Arts program and to hopefully pursue a career in television programming. I understood her regrets about her college experience and her desire to have studied English or history because knowledge of history and literature is valuable when reading or developing scripts. Overall, McCaffrey was one of my favorite speakers thus far because she offered multiple perspectives from her various
Another possible careers that I would want based on my senior project topic being based on fictional writing is a songwriter or a columnist due to my ability to write songs and sing as well as provide songs for other artists to sing and the interest to writing my life experiences and contributing them to a newspaper or magazine on a consistent basis with people who read from the certain newspaper knowing me based on my column or the songs that I will write for other artists or for
It all started with a pill that was just a little too big. I was on my high school ballroom dance tour when a sick roommate decided to take some cold medicine. He had tried swallowing and ended up with one of the two pills firmly lodged in his throat. I quickly sprang into action, and on the third try the pill flew through the air as color began to return to his face. I was amazed that in a small way I had saved a life and it felt as though my feet would never touch the ground.
Paolo Nieddu is one of the most sought after Costume Designer’s in the entertainment industry. With an impressive resume and years of experience in styling for feature films, TV and commercials, Paolo is making some of the biggest waves of his career in his permanent role as lead costume designer on the TV series “Empire”. Having worked on television shows like Ugly Betty, Smash and the Sex and the City 2 movie, taking risks is a common practice for this renowned stylist and even though the stakes keep getting higher and higher due to the popularity of Empire, Paolo seems to be #Unbothered and keeping his eye on the Fashion prize. With a massive amount of cast members to style on any given day, Paolo has to be prepared to bring his A Game at all times and getting stumped while trying to dress the cast is just not an
I am currently planning to seek a career in the film industry. I have always had interest in almost every aspect of film-making. The planning, the actual production, and the editing are all areas where I would consider taking positions. My main passion is currently directing, and this is where I would ultimately hope to end up. I hope to get a position where I can live in a big city such as Los Angeles or New York City. But, like I stated earlier, I love the whole process and would be willing to get involved in almost any position.
In recent discussions of costume and clothing issue has been whether there is a difference between the two. On the one hand, some argue that all costume is clothing. On the other hand, however some state that there is a difference between costume and clothing. In sum, then, the issue is if this is an issue that should be handle. While some believe that costume is not clothing, fashion is just a part of what a person chooses to express their way of being who they want to be.
When I was planning for college it was my dream to become a writer, but I knew that I wasn't living in a time where I could hang my hopes on becoming an author. I turned to journalism, which I still greatly respect as a professional field, but it didn't have what I was looking for. The same goes for screenwriting; I may have put an emphasis on it while studying television and film, but my heart wasn't in it. For me, it was and has always been creative writing - short stories, novels, poetry on occasion.
In this fast paced ever changing world, there is always a need to increase the efficiency and reduce the time required for a particular problem to be solved. Most biological experiments, apart from being time consuming, are unpredictable and difficult to maintain, which results in a wastage of resources. With the advent of computers and their increased application in many different fields of study, we can now theoretically test out the hypothesis before proceeding with the practical experiment. Computational biology, as it is termed, is paving the path towards achieving this. With the success of the human genome project, the need for biologists equipped with the ability to look at diseases from a computational and mathematical standpoint
What field/program are you studying at Guilford Technical College and why did you choose it?
To become a fashion designer there are many duties to take on. One is attending a college that consists of 1 to 4 years of learning for that specific career. Other duties are Learning about textiles, fabrics, and how to make different apparel such as shoes, coats, or clothes and more, having good communication skills and a sense for trend setting as well as a vibe for mix and matching apparels and making them look right.
As you may know fashion designers create anything that is part of a garment for men, women, and children. They understand the needs of their clients and create attractive, functional garments and accessories. When designing they must keep a close watch on fit, style, color, texture, size, and material. Designing any outfit starts with sketching and original idea on paper or on computer programs. Then shaping the patterns pieces which make the garment. The pieces are then drawn in actual size on paper and cut out on a rough material. These pieces are
