Organizational behavior studies human behavior in organizational settings and the influence and impact individual behavior has on the workplace. To provide a personal perspective of personality characteristics, the International Personality Item Pool (IPIP) assessment was used to measure aspects of my personality and how these traits relate to working with others and life within an organization. Key observations provide specific insight into how these are applied to workplace behavior and interactions with others. Personal self-reflection related to workplace behavior is offered, including lessons learned to assist in becoming a better employee, coworker, and/or manager, and how the Holy Spirit has assisted in transforming weaknesses …show more content…
Recognizing our values and how they are reflected in our attitudes provides the foundation needed to understand who we are and how we make choices. Scoring 3 points related to power demonstrates a low importance while scoring 10 in Universalism demonstrates a higher developed concern for others without regard to position or other allegiances. Combined with a positivity ratio of 8 (positivity tally of 8 divided by negativity tally of 1), the expectancy theory can be used to predict behavior when choice of actions must be made (Kinicki & Fugate, 2016). Consequently, I am hopeful my behavior clearly reflects my devotion and caring for others as witnessed in God’s unconditional love.
Motivation Insights
Driven to public service, I identify with the high intrinsic motivation score of 27 and the correlation to Deci and Ryan’s self-determination theory outlining a typical public employee’s motivation through a sense of duty and reputation for service (Park, 2012, p. 708). Research has focused on social factors that enhance intrinsic motivation finding psychological needs of autonomy, competence, and relatedness contributing to self-motivation (Ryan, 2000). Accordingly, these nenoeds relate directly to the measured high levels of autonomy motivation (27 pts.), competence motivation (27 pts.), and relatedness motivation (30

Before the discovery of Uranus there was thought to only be seven heavenly bodies, the Sun, the moon, and five planets. It was common knowledge at the time that they were the only other objects in the Solar System and there would be no others. It changed in 1781 when William Herschel discovered a new object, which later became known as Uranus. (Teerikorni, 111) This all began in 1773 when Herschel started grinding his own lenses and even mounting a mirror with a five and a half foot focal length. He continued in 1776 with larger telescopes. “In July he added a 20ft, and telescopes of 7, 10 and 20 feet becames his common working instruments for some years to come.” (Bennet, 75-76) All of this tinkering eventually led to the discovery of a new
It is virtually impossible for a team to be truly effective or successful without the individual personalities that make up the team taking the time to develop the best way to work together. Our textbook defines organizational behavior (OB) as “a field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations, for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization’s effectiveness” (Robbins & Judge, p. 10). The benefits and deficiencies of personality that each person possesses should all be determined and strategically positioned to best suit the team or task at hand. As stated by Dr. Kahlib J. Fischer, “So it is important that you understand your own behavioral tendencies and the behavioral tendencies of other individuals if you really want to understand how organizations behave and how they should behave according to God’s purpose” (Fisher, 2006). For the purposes of this paper, we will take an in depth look at my personal inventory assessment results and provide recommendations for growth in corporate, spiritual and personal areas.
The presentation indicates the results of PAMS, which reflects to my own, and others’ perceptions towards my management skills. To be honest, before attending this class, I am very proud of my past performance and even self-definite to be a manager at the age of twenty-three, and as my boss/father would say, that I am "being the right person doing right things and in right ways", though most often trying to be as humble as possible while wearing workout clothes to our small office in DTC. However, after finishing the Personal Assessment of Management Skills (PAMS), as well as comparing the result with the reports from the PAMS Associates (one current employee and one past coworker/good friend for the survey) and with the average of the
Throughout this year in college an important challenge I faced was getting through the two semesters of Physics that I needed to fulfill my pre-med requirements. Having last taken physics freshman year in high school and only covered very elementary material, I realized very early on in my first semester that this was going to be my most difficult and time-consuming class. As a result of lacking a solid background of physics from high school, I began going to office hours two to three times a week and staying on top of the material. I then began to give myself more than enough time to complete assignments so that I could go to office hours and conceptually understand difficult concepts such as Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, electrical circuits,
Invidious comparison and vicarious traumatization are two things that most people will experience in their lifetime. I know for I personally have experienced both during my 28 years of life. Invidious comparison and vicarious traumatization can both be damaging to yourself and other people involved. That is why I'd like to take the time to explain a few important topics on invidious comparison and vicarious traumatization, such as; how to stop invidious comparison, identify strategies that I currently use to avoid vicarious traumatization in my personal life, how those strategies will help me avoid vicarious traumatization as a human service worker and what strategies I could develop to avoid it as well.
This paper reviews the in-depth findings of my personality assessment by focusing on certain areas of my personality and how these findings correlate to workplace behavior and preference. I will also review what I have learned about myself and organizational behavior that will allow me to better myself as a coworker and an employee. By discussing the information, I will be able to assess my strengths and weaknesses and evaluate how the Holy Sprit has worked in my life to help turn those weaknesses into strengths. Consequently, this information will allow me to see myself on a deeper level and evaluate my decisions in a unique way to determine how they may affect my coworkers and my career.
This self-assessment and Reflection Paper is about the questions on page 109. The main arguments are ontological, teleological, and ontological.
Independent: Ever since I was a small child, I loved independence; I was always the child who refused to hold my parents’ hands in crowded plazas and adored exploring foreign locations alone. The moment my mom announced that my brother and I would have to stay at home alone while she worked at her part-time job, I immediately rejoiced over the new bestowment of responsibilities. By the time I entered 10th grade, I had more freedom than a lot of my friends in terms of curfew and financial spending, because I was independent enough to finish all chores and achieve my academic goals most of the times. Although there are times in which I burden myself with too much goals to achieve alone, I am constantly striving to find a healthy balance
It’s 11:50 PM the night before a social studies project is due. I have just finished gluing down the last clean cut and perfectly centered piece of paper to my project board. I stand back and look at my work; everything is neat to my liking and the craftsmanship is impeccable. As usual, I probably spent triple the amount of time as my classmates to complete this project, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Oh, and I’m in 5th grade.
Fall 2015 semester was the first time in several years that I drove. I had serve anxiety surrounding driving as a result of a car accident. This affected my attendance greatly as I either missed classes from not being able to leave my driveway or was late from pulling over to calm myself down. I did not want my issues with driving to adversely affect others on the road, hence, I had to rely on family and friends to drive me when they could.

Self-awareness can be beneficial to the structure of an individual’s personal growth, their relationship with others, and a fulfilling career within an organization. The multiple self-assessments located on the McGraw-Hill Connect website provides a series of questions related to numerous topics throughout the textbook that will permit me to know more about myself. This report will identify unique personality tools that will measure the extent of my character to aid in self-growth and possibly expand my career performance within my organization. And after answering these questions, as honestly as possible, I have gained further insight as to who I have become as an individual, how my personality affects my relationships with my
