Out of the five categories on the political spectrum line I place myself as a Republican. In my opinion being a Republican means to me that there should be a smaller government, the government should not be a big role in business and that we would prefer spending our tax money on infrastructure and the military . I believe that I am a Republican because I do not always want things in the government to change every day. I think that change is good but if something is working out good we should keep it and just build off of it, that is why I believe that I am a conservative. The three reasons/issues why I placed my self where I did was because I do not think that we should be spending a large amount of our tax money on social programs, I think that we need more security on our border and should be somewhat concentrating on legal and not illegal immigration, I do not think that we should punish success by taxing it , and lastly I believe that people should acknowledge that the police work hard and that I support the police and law but also think that they need to respect everyone's individual rights of people. …show more content…
The reason that someone should be offered those benefits is because if there are no job offers and you have a family then you may not be able to take care or feed them if you are making no money. Some people may take advantage of social programs even after they make the money needed. Social programs are great for people who just need some help for a little while for example looking for a job, just getting out of the hospital, or providing older people with the safety net of retirement (social security) and healthcare
There are a variety of ways our ideas are shaped and influenced as we change and grow older with age. We form our own views and beliefs with all the information we receive throughout our lives. It shapes our political views on issues based on what we were taught to believe. We as people aren’t born with political ideas and we certainly don’t create them. The process we learn them through is called political socialization. As early as our childhood and throughout our lives we are exposed to various agents for political socialization. Some agents tend to have a greater impact and effect on our personal beliefs than others. Agents for political socialization that I have observed in my life are my family, education, religion, and other secondary
I believe that I am more Republican. Some of the biggest issues that are important to me are abortion, immigration and taxes. Even though my beliefs on abortion do not line up with that of republicans, I still generally side with their beliefs more. I believe in prochoice, I think that people should be safe when it comes to things like pregnancy but if they want to get an abortion, it is up to that person. The government should not be allowed to control what someone does with their body in this aspect. Immigration is another issue I find very important feel that if someone is here illegally, they should not be allowed to stay. I feel that immigration is ok as long as the person coming into the country does it right. America is a country of immigrants so of course our arm should be open to those who wish to live here. However, the moment they are here illegally and are not planning to legally be part of the country they should be deported. Finally, taxes are a somewhat important issue to me. I think that the very rich should have higher taxes since it makes more sense that they would have the money to pay for it. Those who do not make a lot a year should be minimally taxed so that they are able to pay their taxes each year.
I am going to be honest. Generally speaking, I have never been a very political person. When I was younger I didn’t care much about politics and up until a year or two ago the most I knew about politics was a basic idea of the ideas of each party, their symbols, that our president is a democrat, and that there’s a presidential election every four years. But, in the past year that has changed a lot. I turned eighteen, and eighteen is the year, the year we become adults, and the year us new adults gain the right to vote. Gaining this authority gives you a feeling that you don’t quite get when you get your license, or your first job at sixteen. So imagine my initial disappointment when the first election I get to vote in involves Donald Trump. But, as I have experienced the campaign in the past year, that disappointment dissolved and I knew I wanted to share what I picked up on.
Welfare is made for people who have been hard on there luck. The idea that the government gives assistants in order for recipients to become financially stable in order to improve the economic statis works very well in theory. Welfare can be looked at in two different ways. One of these ways is that welfare should be used as a temporary source in order to supplement an existing paycheck until you can make ends meet. The other way is to completely get a person of out of poverty and to become apart of the working society.
My step mother has Medicaid, SSI, and food stamps. She has determined within her own mind that it is not worth it for her to get a job, because she will lose her benefits. If she gets a job, she will then have to pay for food and medical insurance rather than getting it free. This is a prime example of using the system the wrong way. She is content with living off welfare because she can stay on it for as long as she is eligible. If she had a time limit to find a job, and a time limit on welfare, then she would be an active member of society. Now, she stays at home all day and contently lives off the government.
The Social Security Disability system is only a microcosm of what ills the American job market. There are a number of welfare programs that currently provide a disincentive to those seeking gainful employment. One company published a report of a single mother with one child with a gross income of $29,000 and all the government assistance she receives actually makes $57,327 in net income and benefits. She would be better off than the mother with a gross income of $69,000 who after taxes makes $57, 045.
I came to the United Stated from Poland at the age of six. I grew up in a very liberal city and believed that I was a liberal as well. Everyone around me, my teachers and my peers, always denounced conservative beliefs. I never took the time to actually learn and research the facts for myself. In January 2016, when the election was 11 short months away, I realized that it was time to learn about the candidates in order to make an educated vote. With this, it was necessary to learn, for myself, about the political parties. This was when I realized that my views and beliefs did not align with the Democratic Party and that I am actually a conservative. Those around me did not take kindly to my newly discovered beliefs and I lost many friends,
The U.S. Social Security program is designed to aid residents in need through welfare subsidies. The programs are provided by organizations on federal, state, local, and private levels; and help to provide eligible residents with food, shelter, healthcare, education and money. Aid is provided through financial aid for college education, unemployment disability insurance, food stamps, pensions for eligible low-wage workers, subsidies for housing, and health insurance programs for public employees (Feldstein, 2005; Krugman, 2007).
Lastly, some people on welfare are just to lazy to go get a job. Some people are contempt with sitting around watching daytime T.V. and collecting taxpayers' money. While not all welfare receivers are lazy some abuse welfare such as this example, "I know a welfare recipient who has two kids and is currently enrolled in college (last semester she made the dean's list), who couldn't really make it without some assistance. But on the other end of the spectrum, I know of women who have never held a job and have survived on welfare since I've known them, and I think if I can work 35 hours a week and take a full course load, they can at least get one damn job"(Handy). The system seems too easy to abuse in the first place. As long as one is unemployed and meets all the qualifications one can receive welfare and if one maintains this status with the intent to get a get a job then he or she remains on the list to receive government money and benefits. Welfare isn't
There are many questions people ask about social welfare programs. Who is receiving these benefits? Are the people receiving these benefits abusing the system? What portion of our tax dollars are going into these programs? What are the long term effects of these programs? What about the non working part of the population? According to the Social Work Degree Center, some of the most common misconceptions of social welfare programs are that people in poverty are simply just lazy and unmotivated, that all people have equal opportunities, and that there is only a relatively small portion of people experiencing poverty. The government is trying to sustain the social welfare programs while trying to help maintain and protect the general welfare
The reason many cannot stop receiving these benefits is because they do not make enough money, and many times are forced to quit their jobs to actually receive the benefits. Another ethical concern is the treatment of those who are receiving welfare. Many do not have the education, child care or transportation that is needed to actually get a job, and to stop receiving welfare. Many people get fired for missing too much work because of transportation issues and having children who may be sick or not having a good sitter.
Being on welfare is a curse in disguise to single parent households. To be eligible for welfare you must have little to no household income, meaning that you can’t have a job that pays a living wage. Also, it does not raise up children who are on it, so it is essentially useless for them. Some people on welfare have said that it has trapped them into poverty and they have no independence, self-sufficiency, and it doesn’t promote an industry of ambition. It has also been said to be part of the poverty problem that is so apparent in The United States. Despite the fact that welfare was made to help impoverished people it hasn’t done so, especially for single parent households.
Confessing one 's political identity in 2016 truly embodies the phrase “walking on eggshells”. Whether you’re a liberal or conservative, owning up to your political resolutions sometimes comes with some intense backlash. In this years’ presidential election we have an intense candidate with very radical views, and if you don 't know who I’m talking about you should probably move from the rock you are living under. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has gained a immense popularity amongst not only the American public but Internationally as well. His chauvinist rhetoric, egotistical outlook, and how he continuously fabricates lies upon lies has truly brought him into the public eye. Hearing Trumps incredibly horrifying agenda makes me proud to admit that I am a Democrat, a solid liberal to be exact. As a solid liberal I believe in the power of the people and that means all people.Whether you are rich, poor, black, white, gay, or straight building and creating a nation that caters to people inherently means doing right by the economy and when we do well for the economy we do well for everyone.
I place myself on the left on the political spectrum right progressive liberal. I like that it focuses on the social and economic welfare of citizens and how the government operates.
Every year, there’s an election to fill a political position. You could run for mayor, the senate, or even the president. So what happens when two brothers with a past run for the same position? Two friends watch news coverage a debate-and both don’t like either of the candidates.
