Personal Narrative: The Sound Of Wolves

The gray wolf is one of the world’s most well known and well researched animals with more documentation on them than any other wildlife species. It is a canid whose main habitats are in the wilderness of remote areas in North America, Eurasia and North Africa. It is the largest member of the wolf family, usually weighing between 70 and 120 lbs, and closely resembles in general appearance and proportions to a modern day breed of dog known as the German Sheppard, although they typically have a larger head, narrower chest, longer legs, straighter tails and bigger paws. The narrow chest of the gray wolf allows for swift and efficient movement through the common elements of their environment such as snow, brush and other conditions. Their larger heads indicate their higher level of intelligence and their large paws, webbed with fur aid in movement across mud and snow. The colour of a gray wolf’s fur lives up to its name and is predominantly a mottled gray although the gray wolf can also have fur that is nearly pure white, mixes of red, brown, or black. Being very social animals, gray wolves do mostly everything in packs of 2 – 15 animals; living, traveling and hunting. They can hunt and feed off smaller game, yet with their large pack size, they can work collectively to bring down large game such as deer, moose or bison. Gray wolves are black, white, brown, and gray. When they are still young, they are all brown with a little white on them. They live in the forest, mountains, grasslands and the arctic. Gray wolves eat elk, deer, moose, and caribou. Gray wolves eat lots of food.

On one nice evening roughly 2 years ago my mother was on the computer looking at things on kohls.com when she asked “Hey, want anything at Kohls?” I replied to this question saying “ Sure I will look around.” Then I started to look around on the site, and that’s when I found it. The most glorious hat I have ever seen in my whole existence. There is this pattern that is kind of zig zaggy yet doesn’t distract you from the greatness of the team logo, the Wisconsin Badgers. Ever since I have received this sublime Wisconsin Badgers hat in the mail 3-5 buisness days later, I have worn it. Whether the badgers are playing, I go outside, or I just don’t feel like fixing my hair, I have it with me and it is a part of me.

Its name indeed comes from the color, but most red wolves are often a brownish shade. Other features likes tall, large ears and a white muzzle round out the easily noticeable features of the red wolf. The quickness and agility it brings to the table is far more than that of the gray wolf. Although red wolves form packs ranging from two to anywhere around twenty, they prefer to hunt alone on small prey like rabbits and mice. In the past, red wolves lived in Texas and Louisiana, but relocation products have brought them to the Carolinas in recent years.

When you say sports most people would either think professional or the best moments that occurred but there is also a dark side to sports that no one wants to talk about. Many things happened or are happening in sports such as racism, steroids, betting, sex scandals etc. but a topic that has been going on for a while is whether NCAA players should get paid. People have spoken out against this and even try to fight it but the NCAA won’t budge and says that they want to keep the amateurism and if they switch to paying players they would be buying the best players making it professional.

Long before the settlers started to make the United States their home, “American Indians lived long beside the Gray Wolf before settlers started to come here.” (Rowe, Mark) The wolf is native to the North American continent and has been inhabiting its land for centuries. It is a canid species, or member of the canine family and is a cunning, smart, fast, and sly animal. Gray wolves range in color from black, brown, gray, and white and also look like a grown German Shepherd. They are well known for traveling in family sizes from 7-9 wolves, led by the alpha male and have a mate. They are a fierce animal that has been researched extensively because of their unique qualities and that they are near extinction.

After years of selective breeding and taming, the hunters finally came across some wolves that were able to listen to commands and do what they were ordered to do. These wolves did not look like the first ones with which humans came into contact. Their size, coloring, senses and even the length of their coat or swimming ability reflected the environment in which they lived. These environments could have ranged from anything since hunters do not stay in one place for very long. These wolves probably did not reflect their gray ancestors much anymore. The color of their coat could have become brown, black, or even yellow depending on where they were taken. Their size could have been affected, too, depending on how the hunters had used them- they could have shrunken to the size

Conflict can take on many forms in one’s life, such as conflict with self, with society, with religion and with others. Othello is demonstrated as a black guy in the play and was called as Moor. Moors, at that time were assumed to be wild, Muslims, pervert and uncivilized people by the Venetian society but despite of these differences, Othello is treated as a hero by the Senate and his soldiers. He fulfills all the duties and responsibilities which whites are supposed to do and his efforts and success makes him their leader. A single pack may contain animals that are black, shades of gray-brown, and white. Wolves in the heavily forested areas of eastern North America are more uniform in color. They are often a grizzled gray-brown like some German shepherd dogs. This color variation is a good example of natural selection, which enables those animals best suited to a particular environment to survive. On the arctic islands, where much of the ground is snow-covered for at least nine months of the year, being white is a distinct advantage, so wolves in the Arctic may be nearly white. In the mottled grey, green, and brown world of the eastern forests the normal coat of the wolf is an effective camouflage. As a wolf moves stealthily, or rests, it blends into the background and is hardly seen. Wolves in the Arctic have extremely dense under-fur, which insulates them against rigorous winters. Another adaptation to environment is their habit of hunting in packs, or groups, which enables them to kill large animals.

My Family and I were at home eating dinner. After dinner I told my mom that I had left something on top of the mountain, so she said “‘go up to get it Mary. But she didn’t want me to go alone so I went to go see if my friend was home but he wasn’t so I disobeyed my moms rules and went up by myself anyway. And it was starting to get dark so I had to get the base fast but I couldn’t find it. Now it was really dark and 2 hours had already passed and I couldn't my way off the mountain because it was so dark. And with my luck my phone died so I couldn’t call anyone for help, so I just started walking and walking after a little bit I realized I was getting nowhere so again I walked eventually I just fell and went to
