“Everyone needs a stretch class,” Mr. Brett Bowers, Homestead High School principal exclaimed. When mid-January comes around at Homestead, Mr. Bowers says this to every student as they are preparing to register for class for the following year. I took my high school principal's advice to heart when I started my college search; Northwestern is my school, a school that will challenge me to be not only the best student possible but also the best person. The Medill School of Journalism has been one of my dreams ever since I started my journalism adventure three years ago, and my desire to be a student at Medill has only grown since I started my quest to find my place in the high education world. One particular aspect of Medill that peaks my interest
My personal faith grows daily by my choice to follow my love and savior, Jesus, every day I wake up. It was by no accident that God showed me Liberty University, and has now become a top option in my choices of colleges. I believe in the deep mission Liberty University has to develop Christ-centered believers because it is the same mission I strive to live out daily in my walk as a follower of Christ. My season of life will not always be the same as someone else's, but I pray that what I have walked through and what God taught me in those seasons can give perspective to others. I have grown up always knowing God but not until my sophomore year in high school did I truly start to live that out. I took two opportunities in the past two years
During baseline engagement in the target behavior occurred on one occasion which equated to a mean occurrence of .33 times per session. While competing behaviors occurred at a heightened rate of: drinking coffee 19.3 times per session; consuming candy 5.3 times per session; and going outside 13.3 times per session. When treatment was introduced there was an immediate reduction in both candy (1.2 times per session), and coffee consumption (2.7 times per session); while water consumption improved dramatically; increasing to a mean of 21.5 times per session. Going outside showed a variable change but the overall increase was not significant increasing to 17.2 times per session.
Since the 8th grade, I’ve known I wanted to be a student at Howard University. Howard University has cleared every major specification that I so very looked for in school in a way no other school could ever. From the moment I stepped on campus the beginning of my junior year, I knew this was the place that I would be able to thrive and inherently become a better “Me”. Howard exudes a certain liveliness that attracts me… Whether it’s the prestige and notably, the mass opportunities presented to all of its students, or the noticeable ambition that exude off each student; I Matthew Smith want to be part of it.
Thomas on the other hand was ok with knowing Victor would not talk to him again after their trip to Phoenix. “I know you ain’t going to treat me any better than you did before. I know your friends would give you too much shit about it.” (Alexie P. 518) He asked of Victor one favor only, he said, “Just one time when I’m telling a story somewhere, why don’t you stop and listen? Just once!” (Alexie P. 519)
Before coming to James Madison University I had no clue what I wanted to get involved in. Whether it was a club sport, business related group, or a social fraternity I just wanted to be apart of something that was bigger than myself. At the beginning of the school year I looked into tryouts for club baseball, the Madison Investment Fund and rush schedules for fraternities on campus. I quickly found out that club baseball wasn’t for me, at least for my freshman year. I then asked around about MIF and got the sense that you needed a very heavy Economics background and that it was very challenging to be accepted as a freshman. MIF is something I hope to get involved in next fall. In the back of my head I always knew that a social fraternity was what
HELLO GUYS!!! I have something veryyyyyyyy important to tell you! After all of my stressing about FAFSA ( Free Application Federal Student Aid) , Colleges, and Transportation, I decided to further my education at Rowan University. It took me a long time to make this decision because this wasn’t my first choice! My first choice/ dream school was LIU Brooklyn ( Long Island University) in Brooklyn, New York. I was recently accepted there and planned on attending there, but their out-of-state tuition was extremely high! Their tuition was $33,000 a year and poor black man like myself, cannot afford it. I really loved LIU because it's a great school, beautiful campus, and most of all, it's in New York. I had my whole planned before it even started,
As I sat on the couch getting ready for the first day back at school, I heard the phone in the kitchen ring. I stood up to go answer it and I heard loud footsteps coming down the stairs. My mother was running down the stairs to answer it just in case it was one of her work calls. I noticed that her voice started to crack as if she was going to cry and the smile that she once had on her face had disappeared. The person on the other end of the phone was my Uncle Dylan from California calling to let us know that Aunt Liz had died in a car wreck. We were so devastated but little did we know she left me $12k. A couple days later I received a letter in the mail saying that I had to use it to help pay for my tuition. I am looking to attend the nursing program at Lindenwood, Missouri State, or St. Louis University.
I remember waking up and looking out the window for the first time just to see a gigantic white pole with long, stretching fingers coming out of the top. It was just like a huge fan flowing very slow, as that’s where my 10 year old mind lead me. As we traveled, we finally hit a town that read welcome to Normal, Illinois. I felt so lost as we pulled through a different college town. While Illinois State University's campus isn’t similar to Purdue Universities, I was still having flashbacks of the enjoyment and memories I had made in Lafayette, Indiana. All of this was happening because my dad had just got a job as a football coach at Illinois State.
My study at Howard Community College has helped me pick out a major that I know I will love pursuing for the rest of my life. HCC was a great way for me to learn the introductions to pertaining to my major. Although HCC was a considerable start, it had limited programs and resources that could have guided me in the long run.
College shows the importance to many not only as a way hierarchy, but as a way of enhancing our skills so that we could be successful in life and to show those who said we can’t that it's in fact possible. In college everything that is done is your responsibility, meaning that you need to prioritize the things you do as a student and make sure that you get your classes in order before you start.High school was nearly the start of real life ,work is much heavier in college ,college exams aren’t as frequent as high school’s.When it comes to college inspiration is key to connecting with your students to ensure maximum
As my high school years were coming to an end, all anyone could talk about was college. Where they were going, what state they would be a resident in, and what they would major in, what campus they would be visiting that weekend. I, however, thought I had it all under control. I thought that when my Senior year came by it would all fall in to place. That's crazy, right? The shows that I grew up watching did not have to deal with this. That is when expectation went out the window and reality kicked me in the butt. I had five months left to start applying to colleges and looking in to different campuses that offered my dental hygiene program. Lucky for me, my community college had a two year program.

Trace how Carthage became almost the equal of Rome. Be sure to show the strength of both and how this conflict led to Rome becoming a naval power. HIST 1421: Greek and Roman Civilization STUDENT WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT UNIT 5 INTRODUCTION In their governmental, political structures and imperial ambitions, Rome and Carthage became in many ways very similar. They were close geographically with only the Midetererian sea, and the island of Sicily separating the two.

I believe I am an example of leadership, scholarship, character, and service in my own life. Some of the activities I am in represent how I uphold the ideals throughout my day. With Golf Basketball and all the sports I am in, I uphold the leadership pillar as a guide my peers. In Aca-Deca and Quiz bowl, I demonstrate the pillar of scholarship. While volunteering my time at church events and the in friends program I exhibit the pillars of character and service.
