The year, 3281… Two hundred and eighty one years ago the land Lemuria randomly appeared- we call it “The Land of Mu”... Once exploration found its way onto that continent nearly twenty years later, they found that it was completely empty, we attempted to colonize on it. The rush was so sudden and the continent to big… Non-reversible damage was dealt. The sea level rises in an instant causing multiple tsunamis, other than the fact that there's no Hawaii on the map anymore Japan and the west coast of California got it the worse… 3224- the world was at war, everyone needed the continent. It was nuclear fallout, four fifths of all humanity in an instant was gone. Shortly after the 28 bombs were dropped- killing four fifths of humanity- only …show more content…
As he stands there listening trying to imagine what kind of spiel Garth is going on about he kneels down and mumbles under his breath “Why are we here anyway? Its an amazing sight to behold yet I don't see why we are here in the first place” Garth looks around to spot a space that looks as if a door could go there, he points to it. “So what, do you want to go in? It’s about time we get to do something worth my while.” The blond haired boy stands up with a fierce look in his eyes, I have not traveled far into this labyrinth of a shrine, I only know a little of the ways. We need to find what's in there.” Irreel lowers his hand to his hip where a holster lays dorment. Inside is what looks to be a clunky pistol patched together with steel sheets, in the center where the handle meets the top there is a red orb. “Let's go, I have my super powerful Pistolum!” He takes it out and flips it in his hand. “Its old and clunky but It has saved my life a numerous amount of times.” Garth looks at the weapon he is holding “The orb is red, was it not always blue?” Irreel’s eyes light up with excitement “So you noticed-” In a fast manner of speaking “The old blue orb had a blue light that could easily shoot through a board, but this red orb- the orb I received from our bandit leader can shoot through a tree. With power like that imagine the things I could do!” Garth looks at Ireel with concern “Wont that cause your …show more content…
The boy was crying. Garth with haste sprints and hops over the rubble of a small village to the boy, reaching out his hand he yells “What happened here- are you all alone?” The boy turns slowly turns around, curiosity hits Garth hard. Garth looking over the boy's head sees a familiar face, Thelma. He does not move, for the young man is frozen in fear and shock. How could this be possible? Once the girl collapses Garth falls to his knees with one hand over his eyes. The other of the two adventurers runs to Garth, finally getting hit by reality, the forest is the one they entered not to long ago. The image slowly like a ripple in a still pond vanishes and they are back in a room with a wall behind them. “There's no way… Look, we entered one of the rooms!” Garth, still shaken listens to Irreel and walks out looking both ways. Irreel was spot on. Irreel runs out to witness what Garth is seeing, the hallway they thought they finished treading through. “What was that back there? Garth, that looked like a younger version of you.” Garth without looking back “It was me, that happened, that's the reason I detoured to the temple by passing a pond from the back. In other words we went the long way. I did not wish to see that site again once more.” The two are
This past year, I have been apart of Naperville Central’s brand new Special Spaces club. When my friend approached me and asked me to join, I agreed even though I had no clue what I was involving myself in. In retrospective, I can honestly say that becoming a part of Special Spaces has been one of the most meaningful, fun, and fulfilling experiences I have had in high school.
Chivalry, a honorable and noble code of conduct developed by knighthood for knighthood. It was a set of rules and morals for knights to adhere to and follow, and it was developed in the middle ages in the years 1170 through 1220. But by the time Chaucer wrote the Canterbury tales in the year 1400 chivalry's light was beginning wane. And perhaps Chaucer's story had something to do with its decline because, when Chaucer tells the Knights tail his story is a satire, he pokes fun at the old fashioned values of chivalry and the knights’ code of honor.
This past week would be my fourth time going to anything state. This Tuesday my aunts and a couple of my cousins and I got in the car and drove all the way to Des Moines for the state tournnament. Once we got there we sat down in a good spot it was Hannah, Trey, Kayla, and I. Kayla and Hannah left to go to the bathroom, and it was Trey and I saving the spots. Trey left to go to the bathroom so I was saving the spots. After a little bit Kailyn Erikson and Emma Rissman came and asked me to move, (I thought they wanted to get through) then all of a sudden they sat down. And I said "excuse me these spots are saved" and they said, "not anymore". So when they got back they asked the girls to leave and they said 'We are older so we can sit here".
It's been roughly fifteen years since People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, otherwise known as PETA, introduced an extremely controversial and graphic campaign entitled "Holocaust On Your Plate" in 2003. In essence, this project consists of multiple "60-square-foot visual displays of animals in slaughterhouses with scenes of Nazi concentration camps" (Hamilton, n.d.) in an attempt to provoke emotions so powerful that they would influence its audience members to discontinue the consumption of animal products. Of course, any person or organization that utilizes one of the most brutal acts of genocide in history as a metaphor to prove a point is going to be met with intense backlash, and this project is no exception. The vulgar imagery and religious dialect PETA chose to include in their campaign is being used to compare the "casual" slaughtering of animals for everyday human consumption to the atrocious mass murder of 6 million Jewish people back in the 1930s and 1940s.
My “outside” cultural influences I have: America is one of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world culturally. We have German-Americans speaking German, Filipino-Americans speaking Tagalog, Irish-Americans speaking Irish, Scandinavian-Americans speaking Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, etc., Welsh-Americans speaking Welsh, Japanese-Americans speaking Japanese, Iraqi-Americans speaking Arabian, Mexican-Americans speaking Spanish, and all Americans united in the common goal to create the best possible nation in accordance with our Constitution.
When I think of the world being unified as one, I don't think of the world being unified as one race. I have never thought if we as people can be described as one race. However, I believe we as people can be described as one race. In the 3 stories I read, I learned about how different yet alike people are to each other. There is a reason why the term “human race” is used. When I think of race, I don't think of black, white, hispanic, or any term to describe someone. I don't think of these terms to divide one person from another.
Recently I took a trip to Nashville, and YES it was so much fun, I learned a lot about my business, met some of my AWESOME business partners, but most of all I got back my Country Roots !
Life is like a puzzle. Everyone wants to find their place and feel like they are “at home.” Sometimes that can be a bit challenging if someone is different. In “Where Are You From” , the author deals with going “back home” to South Korea and finding out that because she was in America for so long, she no longer fits in or has a place(Park 357). I can relate. My parents are not together and because I live with my mom, it was my duty to visit my father during Christmases and summers. I learned that even among family, it is possible to feel like the odd one out.
Where I come from it's taking pride in your yard, knowing every single one of your neighbors, and leaving doors unlocked because there isn’t a thing to worry about. I find comfort in that small town feel, and I am more than proud to be from good ol’ Warrenton, Indiana. Here, we are just a wee bit shy of being big enough to be on a map, but we have a name and we have town lines. Within those lines nearly two hundred people have found a home, and thanks to Mr.Dave Gruible our community is steadily flourishing. There are now three subdivisions on the rise in addition to the church, salon, family restaurant, and campgrounds that nestled into the area years ago.
The front range of Colorado has a large diversity of cultural populations represented. Therefore, as a professional counselor it is my responsibility to educate myself on the cultures I am likely to be working with. Since there is such a diverse population there is no way I am going to know everything about everyone’s culture. Although, I do know the cultures of the majority populations that frequent the agency I am currently working. Since I am working with populations I would be aware of the societal issues they are facing and the oppression they have been and are up against. Therefore, this allows me to immerse myself into their culture, learning and seeing firsthand the oppression and prejudices they face in the community in which we
Classism was carved into people because of the society they were born in. The classism inside is further compounded when put into situations that will affect thinking perpetually. In Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout, a puerile girl living in a diminutive town, Maycomb, she was put into a society where everyone is a classist. Though many don't realize it, including Scout, they believe in class systems because of what they were born to believe. Scout is put into many situations with people in lower classes, which makes her realize what is going through her head about class is erroneous. Consequently, through Scouts experience with marginalized people, that only then she is able to overcome her own classism.
As far as families go, mine is definitely a ‘variety pack’. My father, an engineer, and my mother, an occupational therapist, raised my four younger siblings and I to be independent, open-minded, and selfless individuals. We were brought up to respect the world around us, think for ourselves, and appreciate others opinions, even if they differed from our own. My family’s hometown of DeWitt, Iowa is one of those cliché places where bare feet and fishing define summertime and winter revolves around snowball fights with the neighbors. DeWitt is one of those communities where everyone is willing to lend a helping hand, whether or not they know the person in need. Humility and kindness are valued and are constantly displayed on both community and
What is culture? Culture is the idea of what is wrong or right, the concept of what is acceptable within our society. Culture serves us as a guide, taking us to the "right way" and helping us to make sense of things that surrounds us. There are many different cultures around the world. A lot of them are similar in specific ways and others are just completely different, this difference explains why we think that people from different backgrounds are "weird".
I thought back to two days ago with Matt and how badly I had treated him. I mean you can't blame me right? He totally deserved it because of what he did to me.
I wipe my sleeve along the muck covered window. Watching the people rush around trying to get to places, for some odd reason it soothes me. Shema, Cardo, Scien, Lud, and Tarsel fill the street. They walk shoulder to shoulder. The Tarsels keep to themselves and hang their heads as they walk along the crowded sidewalk.
