The Australia Camp would benefit me personally as an athlete as well as an individual. It would allow me to get a huge block of training in before the season starts. Last winter, the endurance we did really helped me through this season and it would help me obtain great form and fitness. My results this year have been the best I’ve had in 2 years. I won the GP de Charlevoix, which was probably one of the hardest tours I have ever participated in. I was 7th in the National Road Time Trial and 6th in the Criterium. The following week, I was 3rd in stage 2 of the Tour de Rimouski, and fourth on stage 5, the queen and arguably hardest stage. At the recent Track Nationals I was 4th in the scratch race, 2nd in the Match Sprints, 5th in the Keirin and 6th in the …show more content…
If I train really hard and keep my head in the game, this goal is attainable. I also want to place top 5 at Road Nationals in all three events to be given a start for Road Worlds this time around. I have lots of camp and project experience with the NCCH. I’ve been going on projects since U15s, including Bromont, Rimouski, Nationals, Charlevoix, Battenkill and Nature. I am very easy to live with; I make sure that I am clean and organized. While some people become very irritable and difficult to live with I always try to be friendly with everyone, and lend a helping hand if its need. For example, if someone needs help with fixing a bike or cooking a meal I will have my teammate’s backs. I work hard to stay on top of things and keep tidy, which includes maintaining my bikes, filling my TrainingPeaks and doing my homework. I always make sure to have my priorities straight and I have set goals for myself in school to obtain a 90% average. I am very independent, I don’t rely on other people to help me meet deadlines or accomplish tasks and I don’t expect my parents or Maddison to fetch things or do things for
Last summer, I attended a summer leadership and citizenship program in Sacramento, California. Fitting with the Boys State Camp's emphasis on civic service, each delegate was given the opportunity to run for a political position. It's selection process was highly competitive and to be elected to one of the highest positions puts you among the top leaders in the state. While this meant that I would have to push myself out of my comfort zone, I was not going to waste my chance to shine at Boys State, so I set up to be appointed as Fire Chief. The following morning, my heart pounded as I walked into the hall where speeches were to be made. When the moderators finally called my name, I closed my eyes and blocked the whispers in my head, whispers
Since sophomore year, I have tried a diversity of races, each providing their own unique lessons. The major event that seems, like the NBA championship to track runners overseas is FAR EAST. I started when the veterans was aiming for what they called “2peat” in bringing home the banners. In order to succeed, I had to be dedicated to put my heart and soul into my events. Dedication comes easier to have when you have not only your team support, but also the others
I am inquiring about any possible positions you may have available at Camp Red Frog in Chicago. I’ve routinely checked the job postings on the website for around a year, because I wanted to get a head start while I was still in college to see the requirements. Most job postings appeared to require multiple years of experience within the respective field. As a recent graduate from the University of Delaware this spring, I currently do not have the necessary years of experience. However, I am committed to this company for all it has given to me, and was curious if there were any other possible employment possibilities? I noticed on the webpage for job listings it mentions there are internships and temp positions offered as well. I am signed up for job alerts from Red Frog, but have not seen a listing for either of those opportunities. Is there a way I may apply for one of those positions, or are there any openings for fulltime work without the experience requirement? I am hoping to get my foot in the door, and hopefully begin working towards a career with Red Frog.
Holocaust survivors after the war, were not completely done with the suffering. Most lost their homes, belongings, and family to the germans. So when they were released from the camps exhausted and confused, what did they do? Well, most of them moved away or tried to return to their homes. Anywhere they could go to escape the germans, they went. Even after the war was over, anti-semitism still lingered in europe. Despite being mass-liberated, there continued to be violent protests and threats towards jews.
I am at school, which means I have decided to dedicate my time and money into becoming a more educated, and well rounded human. I have proven my dedication to my schooling, buy finding what I am interested in and diving into it head on. I am here to learn, and I find that if I don’t dedicate myself to something fully, it will not turn out how I envisioned it. I plan on leaving here with the prerequisites I need to continue on to the next big thing. Not only have I shown dedication in my classes, but I am involved in multiple clubs, and participate in many cycling races each term. I have been dedicated to racing my bike for more than six years now. I started my racing career in middle school, kept riding through high school and currently I am training for this spring season. I came to Lewis & Clark where there was not team for me to train with, but my dedication to the sport just motivated me to fix that. I was determined when I first came here to start a team, so I could have people to train and ride with. I found and talked to many people who were interested in biking, and earlier this year I started up the Lewis & Clark Cycling Club. I put my mind to something and got it done. Now we have a club solid race team who will be representing the school in the collegiate race series throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. I find dedication to be extremely meaningful, because working with people who are not fully committed to the same thing as I am, will hinder my ability to stay motivated towards my end goal. I feel as if Lewis & Clark is as committed to me and my opportunities as a student, as I am to every opportunity I get
Since the summer of 1987, the Lord has been faithful in making many dreams become realities to better improve and strengthen the Winshape Camps ministry for generations to come. What started out as a ministry running only one camp for boys in Mount Berry, GA, is now one that runs eight camps for children of all ages both nationally and internationally.
If I could go back to any time in the world, I would go back to France in October 1944 on the Western Front. World War Two has always interested me. Being able to see the revolutionary weapons would be incredible. I would also love to take part in such a historic and epic war. War is a horrible event that plays a major part in human development.
I am an extremely passionate runner; my primary focus is to be an encouraging, hard working team member. This commitment entails running up to fifty miles a week, as well as lifting three days and cross training three days for about six months of the year. I pour my time and energy into this sport because it challenges me to become a tougher person. Cross country has taught me to keep a positive, growth mindset and to ruthlessly chase every goal. Additionally, I am best friends with all the girls on the team. I give them everything I can offer to make cross country the happiest place in the world. I am a leader, being named Captain of the ninety person team my senior year. No matter the sacrifice, no matter how I perform, I am ultimately on this team for my teammates.
Finally. After 16 years of living with my family, I am making the big move to boarding school. I am moving to Melbourne, to pursue my AFL dream. The weeks leading up to this day, I knew my family were happy for me. I was chasing my dream and starting a new chapter of my life. I could also see that they were upset, because they would miss me a lot. As for me, I would miss them very much too. But there was no doubt in my mind about moving. I couldn’t wait. Walking out onto the runway, the sun peeking through the horizon and my body is telling me there’s no going back now. I board the plane and take my seat. I put my headphones on and close my eyes. I remember all the good times I’ve had in this town. And as the plane takes off I stare out
When I was nine, I went away to sleepaway camp in Maine for the first time. Camp Winnebago would be my home for seven and a half weeks, and I was only going to see my parents for one day in the middle for Visiting Day. As excited as I was for camp, I was really, really nervous to leave home for the first time for that long.
I still remember the day clearly. It was an 85% chance of heavy downpours on June 7th 2015. It was the first time I could remember that I actually wanted rain. I genuinely wanted anything that could procrastinate the arrival of my first cabin full of campers.
Starting at a young age I was blessed to have parents that were willing to purchase me a dirt bike and let me race motocross. I was terrified to begin at the age of four; however, it benefited me because I was able to pick up on the necessary skills before most others even touched a bike. Ever since then, I have created a love for the sport and continue to improve my riding ability day in and day out. Eventually, I plan on pursuing a career in motocross, and making a living doing what I love. As I begin such an amazing journey, it is hard to stay positive when I compare myself to other racers. If I put my mind to it, I can push though anything according to Gail Devers, “Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and
Thank you for reaching out to me. I'm highly interested in being apart of your team in not just being a better Athlete, but a better person as well. I’m a very competitive person. I train for what i know i’m capable of doing even if it means practicing till midnight .I try to stand out and lead the team believing some obstacles were meant to be in your way. I’m currently working on my ACT score because being below Average does not satisfy me. It doesn’t define who i am, and what my tittle represent. I’m honestly proud to say I’ve came a long way. From running 15sec. in the 100meters to now sprinting a 12.3.,From being TSAA state qualifier ,from my relay being .10 of a second away from making it to state. From having 2 school record along
What Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci coined "The New World" was now overrun by man-eating zombies. It all started in Chile and Argentina; news of a highly infectious pathogen had begun spreading at breakneck speeds. By the time epidemiologists had discovered the cause of this pathogen it had already spread to the Western half of the United States and was making its way east.
When things aren’t going as planned and there is no way to move forward I tend not worry about the things that I cannot control. I explore every option, I will seek out the help of others who have been in my position before see if they have any advice, and once all options have been exhausted I will take a step back and try to focus on another step that can be handled while things get worked out. I also pride myself in making sure that I hold myself accountable when things aren’t right. When I was the summer camp director at a daycare center we had a no nut facility, so any lunch brought from home had to be check by the team leaders. One day a team leader missed a lunch with nuts in it, the kids told their parents that another kid had was
