“Suddenly there was a crash”, Tia’s grandma exclaimed. There the broken floor was broken, and she was never heard from again” “Wow Grandma that was my most favorite story you ever made up”, Tia exclaimed. “Oh Tia”, her grandma said. “That’s because I didn’t make it up. This is true and it happened while my sister Jean was working at Lidtke Mill” “Grandma are you pulling messing with me,” she says curiously. “Because I never knew you had a sister.” “Tia dear”, She says “It is one thing when I’m joking around with you, but when I talk about Jean, I would never lie”, her grandma says sadly. “Oh, well that’s my favorite story can you tell me again please, please, please!”, she begs. “No Tia there is something I must do, but never to hurt you”, she says, “To avenge my baby sister”, she says, only now she is crying. “I love you Tia, and I will always love you no matter what happens”, she says sternly. She walks out of the room and says goodbye to her daughter who knew what she was about to do. Kalie walks into Tia’s room. “Mommy, what did Grandma mean when she says she is going to avenge Jean?” Tia asked. “She means that she will do whatever she has to do to make the people of Lidtke Mill pay for what they did to my aunt Jean,” her mom says in a proud kind of way. “Well I just wanted to hear that story again,” she barked. “That’s all I want to do and if that is too much to ask for, I’m going to bed!” and with that Tia walks to her room
“Wake up Jayne Mac,” my mother called to me from the living room. I hopped out of my bed and briskly got dressed. “Come on!” my mother shouted as I bolted past my brother’s room and raced outside to where the moving truck and my parents were standing. Suddenly, a white truck pulled up to our driveway. All of the sudden, my grandmother hopped out of
Her words caused her mind to fly back in time to Grandma’s last Birthday, when her cat had clawed the table clothes to shreds and when it caught on her paw she ran, causing the cake to fall and splatter all over grandma’s 400 dollar dress. Then she had a memory she didn’t remember.
“My dau--- My daughter was in this hospital,” I mumbled, “My daughter WHERE IS SHE!” I jumped out of my seat, but my leg gave out and I fell to the ground.
“You know, you hurt every time you come to visit her,” Zera replied, “You really broke her heart when you started defending criminals without remorse. She hates how you willing let criminals walk out of the court as free men…”
She bolted to her feet despite being asleep only moments before. "Not again," she muttered through gritted teeth, expertly throwing on a pair of tennis shoes and rushing out of the burning room. The girl dropped
“I'm going to tell Grandfather, right now!” Painted Girl yelled at Sarah. “And you,” she said, turning on John. “You are no better than her! You're supposed to be working, not… frolicking with everyone! What will Grandfather think when he finds out what you've been doing to his granddaughter? What will Richard think? He’d fire you for this, friend or not.”
“Yeah this morning he screamed and said there was a monster in his closet. It scared me out of my skin. Well I suppose he’ll just grow out of it, right?” She asked him, biting her lip
“Don’t do that!” I shouted while putting up a hand to try to stop Savannah from throwing another stone. “That one’s nice. She fell asleep in my mama’s lap before.”
Chloe, my youngest granddaughter, drove me home. In the car she said, “Grandma, are you sure about this?”
For those who can’t recognize the disadvantages blacks have, any movement that call for equal rights and black mobility may be seen as an extreme action trying to cause conflict. For leaders who advocated for change like Malcolm X or Jesse Jackson were labeled in negative terms, but they were trying to obtain the same rights that whites have. In the case of Malcolm X, he said “We assert the right of self-defence by whatever means necessary, and reserve the right of maximum retaliation against our racist oppressors, no matter what the odds against us are” (Malcolm X, 747). What Malcolm X is advocating for reminds me of Sylvester Carrier actions in the movie Rosewood. Sylvester was viewed as an out of control black man with a gun during the shootout at his house. In truth, he was trying to protect his family
It was taking a long time to find the right address because the GPS had taken us to the wrong house. We pulled into the driveway and typed it in again. Mom was so tired that she kept dozing off as well, so Callie was in charge of keeping her awake. Every time she’d tap on her shoulder, Mom would say something along the lines of, “I know, I know! We are almost there.” It was around one in the morning when we arrived at grandpa’s house.
“Hey, mom. That girl looks just like me. Except, she has a doctor as a mother,” Peggy quietly told her mother. “Wait. Didn’t you tell me that I have a twin sister, and she’s identical to me? Mom! That’s Jeggy! Mom! Mom! Mom! It’s Jeggy!” Peggy whispered in excitement.
"I found her lost in the woods surrounding my house, it was getting late, so I offered her a place to stay" Zach replies, a low tone to his voice.
“I love you darling, stay safe. Oh, and try to wait for daddy to come home before you come too.” Amethyst
Both my parents burst through the doors, looking slightly concerned. “Mehak, why are you screaming?” My mom questioned. My eyes started to get watery, thinking of all the terrible possibilities, and I got a feeling in my gut that something was wrong. “Grandpa... H-he...w-were t-talking a-and h-he started c-coughing a-and the l-line w-went d-dead.” I stuttered, not knowing what to think. My dad flew out of the room, probably to contact my grandma about what was going on.
