Personal Narrative: Sarah Lawrence

Hi could I please have an iced skinny cinnamon dolce latte with coconut milk please? My name is Courtney Travaglini, currently I'm in my cold home state of Maine. However you are about to learn is not my "home" anymore. My husband and I are stationed in North Carolina and have been there for the past two years. Thanks to Starbucks transfer program and love of the military I was able to transfer back to Maine during my husbands deployment.

It wasn’t like any other swim practice, no, not like any other I’d ever gone to. No one usually moved to Minot, North Dakota that was also in swimming, so when Emily Pitcher and her family moved to town and came to practice, it was quite a shock for everyone on the team. She moved from Colorado and she had 2 younger brothers and a younger sister as well. They seemed nice enough but there was something about Emily, who was my age, which seemed a bit off.

I have many important people in my life that support me in everything that I do, but a good friend of mine has always pushed me to do my best in every situation. Morgan Parcher is like an older sister to me. She helps me with anything imaginable, and is the image of what I want to be. I met Morgan through 4-H. It was my very first year in 4-H and it was her last year. My mom was quite vocal and crazy so Morgan took a liking to my mom. All the kids loved my mother. She was the crazy lady of 4-H. She thought of my mom as her own, and while my mom and her became close so did we. Since we met through 4-H, we both showed horses together and she saw a great potential in me. Lauren Rezac- My weekend did not really start off to exciting. Right after my Fast-Pitch game I was picked up by my dad in our 1962 jeep. When we got home we had supper and we all stayed up for a little bit and went to bed. On Saturday I had the house to myself, my dad was helping our neighbors while my mom and sister were in ST.Cloud.So When I was at home I was pretty bored so I did what most bored kids I know would do turn up the music and make a little mess, basically I made slime. Throughout our lives, we all make sacrifices in order to achieve our goals or to help others achieve their goals. For some, this may mean sacrificing friendships or family time, or for others it may mean sacrificing money and other dreams which may also be of great importance to us. A person who has made many sacrifices in order to achieve their aspirations or goals is someone with strength, determination and masses of will-power, and it is someone who is not prepared to give up on their dream.

When I was six I wanted to be Hannah Montanna. When I was 12 I still dreamed of becoming a pop-star, but figured I could have a second job too – just in case. I’m seventeen now and I’ve have read Maya Angalou and Ralph Waldo Emerson; I’ve studied American history, marvled at astounding scientific discoveries, and cheered for political revolutions. I've traveled to different states and analyzed geological features for the aesthetic beauty and for the geological history. I've done many things, the logical step here would be then for me to pick; speak or forever hold my peace, but in all honesty, I don't know what I want to be. I have had many great mentors that have stood out in my life thus far, but I have one lady that really stands out. Her name is Tina; I know her better as Ms. Hicks. She is a kindergarten teacher and Glee Club director at the middle school I attended. I came to know her really well when I joined the Glee Club my sixth grade year. She is so selfless and always puts others before herself. I just began watching her one day and realized that I wanted to be just like her. I began to volunteer in her classroom the last period of the day because I want to be an elementary school teacher as well. I decided why not learn form the best. Have you ever loved one thing so much that you just can’t stop thinking about it? Well, running was that “thing” for 16-year-old track star Jessica Carlisle. She lived, breathed, and ate running every single day up until the accident. When her track team’s bus is coming home from their meet, they collide with another vehicle that is going the opposite way. One of their teammates’ dies and Jessica ends up losing her leg.

Johnna Brown. The lovely mother of two, and the amazing wife any man would dream of, the best pet spoiler there is, and the perfect friend. That right there can say so much about someone without even knowing who they are. Johnna, my mother, is such a talented person. Along with this, she is also a mentor and therapist. Who is Katelyn Ballard? Katelyn is a student, a sister, and most definitely, a pet lover. I am a senior at Franklin County and have lived here since May 30, 1998, which is my birthday. Even though I have lived here seventeen years, I have moved houses six times. I currently live on Tims Ford Lake with my Mom and step dad. I have one older brother, Cody, and two step siblings, Cade and Carly. I have two dogs, Dixie and my favorite, Marley. I enjoy high school, but just like every other senior; I am ready to be done. I plan on entering Motlow’s nursing program then furthering my education at MTSU to become a nurse practitioner. Taking care of people has always been an instinct of mine, so a job in the medical field is ideal for me. I enjoy writing

I’m Sarah Stutzman and this is the story of my life. I am twelve years old, and quite tall. I’ve lived in Indiana my whole life, so I am blessed enough to experience the season changes. In addition to viewing all the season changes, me and my family visit new places on vacation as much as possible. Artistic; a term that strongly represents me. I proudly enjoy painting nature, such as open fields, lakes, sunsets, fall, streams, and so forth. In the meantime, I transport my art supplies to a massive oak tree in the cattle field that overlooks the lake, and perch on the highest branch to paint the everlasting meadow. Ironically, art isn’t my only profession, I also participate in sports and clubs, such as 4H, basketball, track, volleyball,

Lauren and the others in her group are in a new situation; they have to survive out of the walls. Lauren said, "Everyone who's surviving out here knows things that I need to know... I'll watch them, I'll listen to them, and I'll learn from them. If I don't, I'll be killed. And like I said, I intend to survive" (Butler 173). She's always focused on adapting to new situations - but one key to that is learning from others and bringing a group together to support each other.

Jane and I grew up in grade school together. She was in the class ahead of me, but her and I were still friends. My father was into politics and involved himself in whatever he could with Jane's dad. Since our fathers were away quite often, we would spend a lot of time together. Since Jane didn't have a mother, my mother would often include Jane in whatever my sisters and I were doing. We would have great talks together talking about what we wanted to do when we grew up. Even though neither one of us knew what we wanted to do, Jane was someone that always had the biggest heart for helping people. She was always talking about the stories her father told her about President Lincoln, and even though she didn't know how, she knew she wanted to be someone to make change like he did.

Growing up on the south side of Chicago, I never heard of Sarah Lawrence, but that changed after watching one of my favorite film “10 Things I Hate About You.” Kat Stratford, the main character, and I shared many similarities including us both being called Kat. Our quick wit, not to mention, we are outspoken. I watched the movie so many times that I could recite the lines. One day, while re-watching Dr. Stratford finally approved of his daughter attending the school Sarah Lawrence; I wondered if this college was a real place. After a quick Google search I ended up on the college’s website, and fell in love.
