It was a cool autumn afternoon and the Northside track team was getting ready to start practice. It was the first practice of the season. Coach came out of the gym and recommended that everyone needs to stretch before every practice. Everyone started to stretch except for the team captain which wasn’t there at the time. Arriving late the rest of the team was already done stretching so he didn’t get to stretch. Caleb Howard, a 5 star sprinter, was the captain for the team. Everyone looked up to him because he was the fastest in the state and been to state all three of his high school career.
that I can be happy at and if running track in college is a good idea and when I realize what the best thing to do then I will decide but until that time comes I wait and research and think about what I could do to my life to have a smile on my face everyday and having the life that is worthwhile. I love running track with a passion I know that because when I'm on the line about to push off the blocks the feeling I have in my stomach is like faith telling me and all I think about is run run run and saying repeatedly “I can do it”, then when that gunshot goes off I go, I run my heart out and I don't stop until I win and go for the best of my
With a score of 44 to 37, the Varsity Football Team won against the Midway Panthers last Friday night at Waco.
Winter is my favorite season because I love to ski. I enjoy exploring Mother Nature, challenging my body to reach new limits, and challenging my mind to master a complicated technique. I raced in high school and placed 3rd at Junior Nationals, which led to training with the Olympic development team. Today, I enjoy sharing all that I learned with others. I helped coach the Spokane Middle School Racing team while I lived in Spokane, WA and I worked for Three Rivers Park District of Minneapolis from 2014-16 as a cross-country ski instructor. I often work with Minnesota transplants that are searching for a reason to love winter, which I can emphatically say, “it's
Cheer Athletics in Plano is one of the most prestigious competition gyms in the country. There are other Cheer Athletics’ branches in other places like Frisco and Austin, but not one is as successful as Plano. It is the absolute best place to go for a serious cheerleader. The best and most experienced coaches work there and they are hungry to win. They expect every ounce of energy and athleticism to be left on the floor when we are finished performing. I have never had any problems with an authority figure until I started at Cheer Athletics.
For the past three years I’ve been a part of a team that has shaped me into the person I am today. The John Hay cross country team has given me qualities that genuinely made me a better person such as being confident, disciplined, motivated, and a leader. Not only did running help me express these attributes, it also saved my life.
The temperature rises in the warehouse-like building as six teams attempt to hit their individual pyramids. Five hours, lunch, five more hours, dinner, three more hours; repeat three days for best results. It’s June, and the season has just begun.
To start off, in high school, I was the captain of Football, Basketball, and Track. As captain I am held to a higher standard because the other athletes are looking up to me. That being said, if some one was messing around or not doing something right, it was my position to help coach them to do the right thing, work extra hard on the next play, or whatever it may be.
I was almost two seconds behind Josh before I closed the lead he had. My car was much faster than his as I could put my car anywhere on the track at will. When I caught Josh, he was running in the middle of the track so I made several attempts to go both high and low to try and maneuver a pass. However, with him running in the middle groove, none of my attempts would make it possible for me to get a solid run to complete the pass. I even slammed my brakes, and went to the high groove to try and keep from hitting him. I tried every line possible to get around Josh cleanly with no
Cross country is a sport that can change the way people see themselves. I can only say this statement because I have been affected by this myself. During this satisfying sport I would constantly find myself lost in the moment. Not realizing how much this sport has meant to myself. Now that I have seen just about everything this sport has to offer I can relive some of the valuable life lessons that cross country has taught me.
I was a really good in 2nd and 3rd grade and one day I ran the mile. After that, my mom asked me if I wanted to do cross country and I said, “yes, I do!!!” So, today I am at a cross country meet in eighth grade and I am about to run a race. Also, in 7th grade I was always in front of Owen.
Running affects my life by making it easier for me to get rid of most of the negativity in it. It helps me stay more focused, gives me time to think about my goals in life, and about my choices to life a better life. Running keeps me in shape, makes me healthier, and more active. I run so I won’t get too lazy to anything else. Once I get lazy I don’t want to do anything active besides eat junk foods and watch tv. When I get lazy and not do anything at all, I start to feel sick, so that is another reason I run. Some people wish they could run, but they can’t because they might have a disability or something else, and I don’t want to take that for granted.
Growing up, I was surrounded by the constant whirlwind of athletics. I rushed between softball games, swim meets, dance recitals, soccer games, and gymnastics performances. When I realized I couldn’t participate in all of these at once, I decided to focus on swimming, and for the next 10 years, spent 30+ hours a week in the water. As my team and I continued to grow, and train, so did our bodies. We endured pulled muscles, torn meniscuses, sprained ankles, and countless labrum tears. It wasn’t just them that suffered, but also their performance in the water.
I have competed in Track for all four years. I am a Conference champion in the 4X400, Sectional and Regional champion in the 4X800, and State finalist in the 4x400 and 4x800. My Junior year I competed in cross country, which I received the spirit award for. I was a Bradford Woods Counselor for University Elem., which means I am a LOTS Senior. Additionally, I am a current member on National Honors Society, and I have the most volunteer hours out of all the members at 26 hours.
Something I have always found interesting since a young age was the sport of running. Just the thought about how we had the ability to run, then using that skill and racing others with that same skill, it just amazed me. Then through elementary school they had field day when they had the 100 yard sprint and mini PVC pipe hurdles, it got me really interested in racing others. I was naturally competitive and really wanted to be the fastest girl out there. So when I came into high school, when track season came around I joined the track team. When I came to learn the ways of track I found that wind plays a significant part of running. But why so much?
First day of track was not what i had pictured in my middle school years. There was concept i was never thought called hell week. Since moving to the united states i was always working hard to be on par with my classmates born to the united states. Lagging was not something i came to know and tried to stay away. If i saw something new my first reaction was to study it down until i couldn't put it back together. Not only the broken toy overflowing from my drawers but the concepts ideas and thoughts flowing every second of the day.
