The clouds are shining, the trees are singing, and the park is glistening. Throughout my childhood, during the summer months, I would try to go to Mason Mill at least once a week if not more; my family would stuff the car with all essentials like, a ball, umbrellas, sunscreen, chairs, and head out to the mini city we called our park. I remember my mother constructing large sandwiches stacked with unique ingredients, watching her make lunch was like watching an intense game of Tetris, each topping had to be placed perfectly. On our way to the park, we would chat about the week’s highlights, share jokes, and fool around. The day was young, and we were ready for the friendly yet exciting embrace that the park provides. Every time we visited, it
Beginning, my memories of Chicago are tied to one specific yet beautiful time I went to Grant's Park in the spring. The first element that made this trip truly amazing was the weather. Of course, it is a simple thing, but such a simple thing as the type of day it was really had an impact on me. The day started cold, the brisk wind biting my lips, making me sink deeper into my jacket. The metal of the handrail on the bridge stung my fingers as the wind whispered into my ears. It seemed to be what one
It’s been a long day, so hopefully writing some things down will help to clear my mind. This morning we arrived at Epps plantation, I hoped it would be an improvement in comparison to the cruelty of Tibeats. However he proved to be even more inhumane, he provided us all with sack for the cotton picking season and told us about his principles of behaviour. If we don’t obey him, we will be beaten with many stripes. This thought of starting every day with fear makes me wonder what will happen with my dignity for all humanity.
I first went to Garner State Park when I was thirteen years of age, I had never heard of that place before, but my neighbors from across the street had invited me for the weekend. Ever since I visited, it became one of my favorite places to attend to; I have yet to find someone who doesn’t find that park beautiful. I did a vast number of things which were all genuinely enjoyable; everything was done at the perfect time from the early morning till sunset.
The day I believed was the beginning of a new opportunity in becoming the man I’ve always wanted to become was really the begging of failure, starvation, and depression. I decided to leave England because of my economic problems I was facing due to the population boost, their was a lot more people and fewer jobs to go around. Even though I was still working to make a profit for the Virginia Company of London I had hope of raising a family here. Our Caption Christopher Newport had us explore the coast of Virginia before landing in Jamestown. On May 13, after two weeks of exploration, the ships arrived at a site on the James River selected for its deep water anchorage and good defensive position. The passengers came ashore the next day, and work
I am on the ship to the Connecticut Colony, Wethersfield. After days at sea and being seasick, I was eager to see land. I hear someone whisper behind me “There is Connecticut Colony.” I looked around and to my surprise; it was Nathaniel Eaton, a small boy who had barely spoken to me. I didn’t think he noticed me, but obviously I was wrong. Nathaniel is the captain’s son. His mother calls him Nat. Our first stop was Saybrook. I watched as people got off the ship and decided to do a bit of wandering. I stayed close to hear the call for boarding. After a short break we set out again for Wethersfield, my final destination. I felt restless, but excited to meet my Aunt Rachel for the first time. Our letters kept us connected, but seeing her face to face and meeting my family made me happy.
A plethora of Christmas tree lots are ready to sell a variety of tress for this upcoming holiday season.
Hello mother, it’s me, Richard. I know it’s been a long time but I figured it’s about time to write back. I’ve been living in Jamestown for these past 13 years, with a stable job and great friends. I just wanted to start over ever since my wife, Betty died back in England. I lost everything after her death, hope, dignity, money, etc. I decided to come to Jamestown to begin a new life filled with opportunities and companions. I haven’t written sooner because I was afraid that the family would be disappointed in me, for just running away from my problems. The thing is, I didn’t run away, I just started afresh. Anyway, the colony is located in a swampy area with a river flowing by with gruesome, dirty water. The stream isn’t resourceful for farming so it’s pretty hard to grow food here. That’s what
Most of my childhood memories took place in the light of the afternoon sun, generally setting ablaze the translucent blue swing that occupied the small space known as the walk-out patio of my Missouri home. The miniature strip of plastic, determined to keep me soaring through the open air, held fast to my interest for over 9 years. It had stood while my sister burst past the sturdy spindles holding up the
There have been a couple of accomplishments that have sparked personal growth, and have made me realize new talents that I have haven’t realized I have had yet. Ever since I have been at Hargrave accomplished more than I ever would have if I was still at my old school. I have realized I can do more than thought I could since I have been at Hargrave. Since I have been at Hargrave I have recognized my true talent in shooting I have made big accomplishments in the sport. My first year shooting I shot fifth in the state and I was also captain my first year I was MVP, and I got to other awards for the sport. Last year the season I was captain again and at the state match I was the top shooter at states and was also MVP again, and also I was awarded
This morning I woke up fresh and ready to explore again. I was in Tripoli, Tripoli is a city in North Africa. The population is roughly 1.126 million. I wanted to go to a zoo in my trip so I decided to go to the Tripoli Zoo. The Tripoli Zoo of Libya has many animals there. I just love seeing animals that you would normally never
Life at Woodlynde, do you really want to ask that? Life at Woodlynde is like a zoo, kids running wildly from class to class, weird sounds coming out of classroom and hallway, lunch is practically a mad house. Life at the Woodlynde school is almost like being in another dimension. I feel like how Alice felt after she went to wonderland and met the mad hatter. Going and spending a day at Woodlynde is a trip, you will hear and see some of the weirdest, yet funniest stuff and still manage to walk out going “what did I just see?” That is what life at Woodlynde is like.
I glanced at the perfectly painted road. This was Pennsylvania, a place I have to live in for as long as my Dad's mistresses can stay. Oh, sorry. Did I not introduced myself? The name's Mason. I'm the boy you come to when you need money, popularities, and pleasure. I probably got the manwhoring attitude from my dear Father. He is the biggest slut you will ever meet. If the word "slut" was applied to us males. I wonder how my Mom put up with him. Wait. My Mom already left him for another man.
You can tell a lot about a person when they’re standing on a 3 inch platform in a tree, 20 feet above the water.
October 8, 2012 my immediate family and I went fishing at Rosemary Plantation for a family day during fall break. After spending almost 8 hours in the boat and standing on the bank we packed up our belongings and went home to clean the fish we caught. Around 6 o’clock that evening my parents decided to go to Pavo and see my granny’s new puppy Toby. While my mother and I were visiting with my granny and playing with Toby my dad and brother went to the hunting property to clean up the stands.
When I first arrived at the park, it was in the evening time and the air had a nice breeze going that sides chills up and down your body, but not enough to put a jacket on. The breeze rustled the leaves on the tree. The sun was going down very slowly, but the rays of the sun danced on my skin. It smelled of freshly cut grass, because the city lawn maintenance people just finished doing the yard work. I found my way to a table in the shade where I could observe my surroundings. Once you drown out the sound of the leaves rustling in the breeze, the sound of children playing hit your ears. On the other side of the park, several children were laughing and playing on the playground. There were children swinging on the swing talking and laughing with each other. Next to the swing at the bottom of a jungle gym a mother waits for her child to slide to the bottom. Watching the children laugh and playing made me fill relaxed. At the money bars a dad helping his daughter get across to the end. I was instantly reminded a time when I was that small and I wanted to be a big kid and go across the monkey bars, but I fell.
