In the summer of June 2014,I woke up at 4:30 Thursday morning and got ready, packed our suit cases in the trunk of my car. Then I woke up my 4 daughters and they got ready really quick. Funny how for school they drag to get up from their bed and get dressed. But that day they didn't even hesitate to get up because they knew we were on vacation. Me and my girls were really excited to take our first road trip to the beautiful beach of South Padre Island . Of course it is gonna be a long drive but we were excited because we will be sight seeing and singing along to the radio. My family lives about 35 minutes from the beach, in a little town not to far. So when we all got in the car ,I drove to a gas station to fill up my car with gas for our trip and to grab a strong cup of coffee with hazelnut creamers. …show more content…
Once we got to San Antonio we got lost for about 15 minutes because of a road contruction. It was fun with my girls we were singing, talking about there school and we saw diffrent park attractions and all kinds of other places. Finally at around 11:30 a.m we got to Harlingen, Texas at my sisters house safe and sound. But that didn't stop us , once we got there we just picked up my sister and my nephew and we headed to the beach of South Padre Island. We were almost there because you can start to smell the fresh salt water and see the big 2 mile stretch of the bridge. Once we arrived we parked right by the water on the sand. My girls just got off my car and started running towards the waves of water. Me and my sister watched while my nephew and my girls were splashing in the water. We really enjoyed that day. We had a barbeque and played volley ball, relaxed on top of a float in the
It was the day after my sister's Quinceanera, and all my family was here. They were leaving back to their homes Monday morning, so keep in mind it is Sunday. All of our parents were talking outside and saw that us kids didn’t really have anything to do, so they decide to take us to a river that was 5 minutes away from my aunt's ranch. We packed up all our food and stuff and went right away.
When i went Destin, Florida. I went to Florida this summer after school was out . We went with my sisters best friend, and my best friend’s family. We drove from Arkansas all the way to Destin, Florida. The day we got there we went straight to the beach! It was the first time I had ever seen the ocean! The following day we decided to go down to the smoothie shack and get a smoothie then swim in the pool. The grown ups went to the beach while we were at the pool.
Every summer I look forward to sitting on a large, warm cabana under the Texas sun. My feet buried in the sand as I welcome the lukewarm waves against my legs. Being a beach bum in South Padre Island, Texas is a great way to bring on the summer. This island isn’t short of attractions, from the beautiful ocean, to tasty restaurants, to fireworks over the ocean you will never get bored on your vacation! Last summer I was joined by a few of my closest friends. We made so many memories as we all went parasailing for the first time. Our relationship grew stronger as we were able to share a new experience together. Spending a few weeks in South Padre Island with family and close friends is a great way to make memories that will last a lifetime.
Summer of 2013, was my very first time traveling to Rockport,Tx. It was myself, girlfriend, her daughter and many family members. As I was driving threw the small town the climate was different than San Antonio; it was muggy, sticky but better than being in San Antonio. That night was pretty relaxing sitting outside our hotel balcony watching the sunset with the ocean around it. Enjoying few cold beers. Came Saturday morning we all woke up to get ready for the beach. Even though the water wasn't clear blue it was nice. Not that much seaweed some jellyfish and minals. As I sat on the sand watching how waves were coming to shore, listening to the pelagun's make noise, hearing the sounds of all the kids splashing in the water, screaming, laughing
Traveling two thousand two hundred miles seemed like a stretch to many, but not to me. One brisk morning I jumped off the catamaran and ventured onto the most mesmerizing place I had ever encountered in my fifteen years of life. It was spring, two thousand and fourteen when I came to know Catalina Island, California. Everything seemed like it was in slow motion coming ashore. It isn’t enough for me to say I just saw Catalina Island, I felt everything that it had to offer. As I crossed over the pier I looked down and saw a school of fish fifteen feet below the crystal clear surface. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. They were rich in color and exuberant in their movement. I could imagine how unconsciously free
For seventeen years of my life, San Fernando is all I have ever known. I have grown familiar with the faces I see on my walk to school and regular trips to the supermarket. The Hispanic culture is represented well in my city through the beautifully painted murals spread across the streets and the small stands that sit on the sidewalk distributing staple Mexican treats. Living in the same town my whole life makes me crave change and diversity. I know Brown will be the step I need to seize to quench my curiosity of what the rest of the world has to offer.
Over break my sisters and I went to Santa Cruz. We had rented a small house by the beach and spent much of our time just hanging out together watching movies on the couch. Every night we would turn on the electric fire. There was only one bedroom and the couch turned into a bed so I went and laid down by the fire, my water glass in hand. It was cold outside and the fire was just the right temperature. I laid there with a pillow, my back to the fire as I read a book on kindle and listened to music. After a while the heat from the fire become a bit stifling. I stayed there anyways because I was too tired to get up. Instead of moving away I decided to just have some of my water. It was after I had ended up drinking the whole glass that a perfect
Port Isabel was the next town we visited — it was also the town we visited the most because it was a town that had a bridge to drive to South Padre Island. On the trip there we dug up a cactus, and although it died, it was still really cool at the time Once we reached Port Isabel I was able to tour a lighthouse for the first time which was amazing. After that, we went to a restaurant named “Pirate’s Landing,” which was one of my favorite restaurants at the time because they gave kids cardboard pirate hats to wear every time, and it also happened to be on the coast of an estuary of the Gulf of Mexico. When we headed back to the condo, we decided to play some golf since it there was a course not even a mile from the condo.
Ever since I found out my softball team could make it to California for Nationals I knew this would be our goal for the summer. Now here is where the challenging part came in, we only had three chances to make it to California. We made it, we were lucky enough to make our goal in the third chance.
What makes California a special state? When someone says California, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? California has many people from a wide variety of ethic, racial, religious backgrounds, and I am one of people who live in California. My journey to California began when I was seventeen. Back to my life in Turkey, when I graduated from high school, the only thing I wanted to do is to learn English. Thus, I decided to leave Turkey for a different way of life, and I came to California, because I thought California was the best state in order to live my life and achieve my goal. It is known as a sunshine state. However, “the reality is that the sun does not always shine, and when it does, it is often blocked by smog”. Why I felt
It was a sunny, crisp fall day in Sandpoint, Idaho. My friend Jacqueline and I followed our typical Wednesday routine. It was around 2:30 in the afternoon and that day, like every week, her mom had picked both of us up in her Volvo from our private school in a residential neighborhood. We had always driven about three long roads, meeting two traffic lights and one stop sign, before we had gotten to their house. Jacqueline and her mom lived in a two-story home in a quiet cul de sac on the south side of our hometown. The front of their home had a driveway to the left side or the house, a fenced in front yard, and a backyard that happened to morph into the largest, most lush park in town. The park had about 5 soccer fields, a biking track, a playground, community gardens, and a bike path surrounding the entity of the area.
I’m from Tucson, Arizona; I’ve lived here my whole life. I travel to California every other year due to having family there. I have two young siblings, one is named Cole, he is one-year-old and the other is Koen, a 5-year-old. I dislike getting called on to speak in front of the class I get anxiety and feel like throwing up… My mom is a fourth grade teacher, I live with her, her boyfriend, who is a sheriff, and my two brothers. For hobbies, I listen to music, do puzzles, read, eat, play with my dogs and draw. As a student, my weaknesses are; test anxiety, time-restrictions, I procrastinate and I get distracted easily. However, last year a 504-plan was installed, so that’s taken care of. I’m inspired by Malala Yousafzai to continue school and
It has been a long time since I have seen my family. I am kind of missing them alot. I left 30 days ago on June 5, 1849.I came all the way from New York ,and it is very tiring to get to California I am not even half of the way there . I came on a wagon. It is still a long way to go, but i hope that it will be worth it .
It is February and I have just returned home from what is considered to be the greatest convention of gemstones and crystals in the world. This is at Tucson, Arizona, in the southwest part of the United States.
Everyone has a different thought when they think about a place they have visited. When I think of California I think about the time I could have lost my life. Only being ten years old and seeing your life flash before your eyes is a scary situation. Ever since that day I have learned to think twice before entering somewhere.
