Vince Lombardi Jr., the great football coach for whom the Super Bowl trophy was named, said “People who work together will win, whether it be against complex football defenses, or the problems of modern society.” and “The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Work is the key to success, and hard work can help you accomplish anything.” I believe these statements are true and hope my legacy at Walton College will show that to be successful one does not have to be the smartest or most talented person, but that success can be achieved through hard work, the ability to collaborate well with others, and being willing to take risks. The success I have achieved in school thus far is not because it naturally comes easy to me,
East Carolina University is and has always been a dream school for many students including myself. I have grown up hearing about the University and it is nothing short of spectacular. Many family members of mine have attended East Carolina, and I have always pictured myself at this school. It would be an honor to be a pirate. Throughout high school I have struggled in Science and Math. I know I could have done better in high school but in life you can always do something better, im eager to push myself more and work harder than ever to succeed as an adult, if given the chance There are many times when I should I have put school in front of my extra curricular activities such as dancing, art, work, tennis, and swimming. However, all of those
Before coming to James Madison University I had no clue what I wanted to get involved in. Whether it was a club sport, business related group, or a social fraternity I just wanted to be apart of something that was bigger than myself. At the beginning of the school year I looked into tryouts for club baseball, the Madison Investment Fund and rush schedules for fraternities on campus. I quickly found out that club baseball wasn’t for me, at least for my freshman year. I then asked around about MIF and got the sense that you needed a very heavy Economics background and that it was very challenging to be accepted as a freshman. MIF is something I hope to get involved in next fall. In the back of my head I always knew that a social fraternity was what
When I think about what I could contribute to Florida A&M University based on the knowledge that I do have with your institution is that i’m a extremely committed student who has beliefs that you can do anything that you set your mind to. There may be some times when I may feel discouraged but why must if I feel like that if things aren’t easily handed to you. You must chase your dreams, and when you do that things will slowly fall into place (not exactly how you planned for it to be at times). I learned that through the many obstacles I had to experience to make me the well informed women I am today. The best activity, interest, experience, and achievement in my life was being a Big member of “Big brother, big sister”. Becoming a mentor for
HELLO GUYS!!! I have something veryyyyyyyy important to tell you! After all of my stressing about FAFSA ( Free Application Federal Student Aid) , Colleges, and Transportation, I decided to further my education at Rowan University. It took me a long time to make this decision because this wasn’t my first choice! My first choice/ dream school was LIU Brooklyn ( Long Island University) in Brooklyn, New York. I was recently accepted there and planned on attending there, but their out-of-state tuition was extremely high! Their tuition was $33,000 a year and poor black man like myself, cannot afford it. I really loved LIU because it's a great school, beautiful campus, and most of all, it's in New York. I had my whole planned before it even started,
On September 14th, Temple University welcomed a very incredible lady, Wanda Benventti. Benvenutti is a photojournalist, writer, and photo editor. However, most importantly she is a woman that truly loves and is passionate about her Puerto Rican culture. I had the opportunity to watch her present her project, that she has been working on for 18 years. My goal as a journalist, is to become a photojournalist. Therefore, meeting Benvenutt gave me a sense of hope, that one day I will become a successful photojournalist. Watching her pictures flow by on the screen, gave me a sense of inspiration.
During my time at Union County College I have been faced with a lot of difficulties. I’ve struggled along the way but one thing I do believe is that I have the power to do better. My GPA has been affected by my personal mistakes. In my past semesters I have let my job take over my life rather than let school be most important. I have also let my personal family problems affect my work ethic. But through my fall 2014, it was most difficult because of March 2014 I lost my father through an unexpected heart attack. Throughout my fall semester I did struggle and cope with my father not being here anymore. I believed that I wasn’t focused enough because I used fall semester as a time to occupy myself rather that time out to deal with my father’s
Wilmington started out as home, then became just a vacation. After years of moving and resisting the pull to move back, I finally made the best and brightest decision I think I have ever made. I am moving home, and in the process, I thought there would be no better place to further my education than The University of North Carolina at Wilmington. I have recently taken a year off in between high school and pursuing my college education, and frankly, I think it has been one of the most humbling experiences of my life. I have learned to appreciate everything that was taught by my parents and the schooling I have received. In that year I took part in America's workforce constantly facing the struggles of being independent and caring for myself,
Finding a interesting topic to write about, is challenge on Louisiana College’s campus, but with a little patience and observation, unique stories are scattered amongst the staff and student body. It didn’t take me long to wander into the student center to find a story or interview that would spark my interest. Walking down the hall I approached one of the most important offices on campus. No, it’s not the president’s office, but the Nurse’s office which I’ve seen many times. I had a feeling that this place would be full of stories and experiences that would give me the interview that I needed to boost my grade. I wanted to do an interview about something that I care about and is important to shed light on. I thought about how I often forget one of the most important things in my life, which is health and the people who work to keep us healthy.
My experience at North Carolina A&T has been great in many ways. I appreciate the activities offered on campus, the football games, and also the parties! There are only a few things I dislike about the school which is the food and the housing. I wish there were different alternatives to choose from in the dome, like Chinese food, Zaxby's, or KFC. I absolutely hate having a roommate, since I have never had to share a room before. If the size of my room was bigger, I wouldn’t mind. My first choice was to attend Clark Atlanta University, but I received my scholarships to late. I have been trying to decide whether or not I should transfer to Georgia, which I have not made up my mind yet. All in all, I believe NCAT may be the right school for me.
Growing up I remember my father telling me of his life at Georgetown. He recounted how much he was able to accomplish and learn in the tight-knit community. He noted the copious opportunities offered, but also how he felt connected with his professors. He told me of how convenient the location was, right in the nation's capital, and how this allowed him to be able to intern and interview with many businesses relevant to his major. As the time for me to apply to colleges drew closer, I began considering his stories, and with them, Georgetown. I researched the school and found it has everything I had hoped my future school will have. It is large enough to have diversity, but not so big it is overwhelming and has a lot of different ways of exploring the world and learning more about the community around me, but just as importantly, it offered a flexibility in when you must declare your major.
I went to Martin Luther College for the entire weekend for a basketball tournament. We left thursday at noon, and we did not arrive until eight o’clock that night. The college student that was suppose to pick Nathan and I up never showed up. We had to wait an extra 30 minutes because we had to find a new roommate. When we finally put our luggage down, we went straight to the pool. I did not go to bed until 3:30 in the morning because the college kids next to my room were really loud. In the morning, I went down to have breakfast with the team. I had eggs and hash browns. We went to chapel and had a tour of the campus. The campus was really nice. We had a game at 4:45, so coach wanted us to meet up at three. Unfortunately, we lost our first
In tenth grade I took not only my first tour of Christopher Newport University but also my first college tour. Before even beginning the tour I absolutly knew this was the school for me. After leaving the tour I did anything and everything I could to get accepted there. I visited CNU mulitiple times between junior and senior year by attending tours and opens houses. Everytime I visited I was only impressed more with the school and community of CNU. During senior year I was able to set up an interview and a sleepover with a student amasador, being able to sleepover at a school where you know no one, yet you feel so welcomed is exactly what I wanted out of a school. I applied for early decision senior year but my dreams could not be fufilled.
From the moment I arrived on campus for my tour at Lehigh University, I was made very aware of what the “Lehigh Family” means. And shortly thereafter, I felt that Lehigh was the perfect school for me. During the information session, we were told about the immense pride that graduates feel for Lehigh when they recognize and greet someone wearing a shirt with the school's white and brown colors in public. The Rally further emphasizes this longlasting pride as a previous class from fifty years prior returns to “adopt” the incoming freshmen and carry their class flag. I am very aware of the the infamous Lehigh versus Lafayette football game, which displays the spirit that students have for this school. The annual bed races that students partake
Like No Other are the three simple words that have been chosen to define this school ,and the truth is in many ways it’s not, and in many ways it is. Lindenwood University has become a home and a source of stress for most of the students here, but we all chose to come and most chose to stay here. Some come for sports, scholarships, programs and etc; but most stay become this once unfamiliar place became their home. When talking to four of my fellow students here on campus, who come from all kinds of background, the overwhelming consensus is that lindenwood while it is a pretty a pretty campus the department's need a little work. During my interviews I asked four simple questions: what was your first impression at Lindenwood? Why did you originally
The past three years at UNC Greensboro have been truly amazing for me in terms of being an active and involved student. My freshman year, I was not sure what I wanted to get involved in so the first things I chose to do were join an organization called Human Resource Management Association and participate the Bronze Leadership Challenge. The Bronze Leadership Challenge was definitely a great way for me to become involved because not only did I meet new people but, I was able to get out into my community and volunteer with the Interactive Resource Center providing help and assistance to those experiencing homelessness. As for HRMA, being an HR major I figured that this organization would help me a lot in my field of study and it definitely has.
