Personal Narrative: My Interview With Mr. H. E.

On 10/28/12 at approximately 1330 hours, Deputy J. Berner and I (Deputy M. Young) was dispatched to 2712 Dwight Road in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, I met with, Mrs. Tiffany Howell (complainant).

For todays clinical, I was located at the office in Pineville. To start the day, Mrs. Faranda went over the computer system and planned out her day based on her goals set for each patient. She planned out which patients she would need to call first. After that, she showed me how to look and see which patients were in the hospital and which were located in the emergency department. Lastly she me different thing in the computer system like the social determinants of health and the medication system. She also went over resources. To end the day, she made a few phone calls and tired to reach out to certain patients. Overall, I enjoyed my day and being able to learn more about Community Care of North Carolina.

It was a really short day for me, so I just worked on completing more referrals and watching Donna check-in patients. There are quite a few steps on Donna’s part that include: checking to make sure that the insurance has not changed, the pharmacy has stayed the same, collecting copay, and a lot more things that I need to still get in there and learn. We had one particular patient that had a procedure scheduled for weeks that we had to reschedule until insurance differences could be worked out. He was not a happy camper, but luckily he directed his anger toward the insurance company and not us. I haven’t got to really be in the front office much this week because of the need in the clinical area, but I hope to get more experience in this area

He told me that he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in December 2010. Since his doctor prescribed rapid acting insulin for his diabetes, I asked him if it is acceptable to talk about his medical condition in front of his family. He gave me consent to talk about his medical problems in front of his wife and children. I suggested to him about the need to take his insulin shot right before eating a meal. I informed him about the insulin medications that he was taking which was lispro and have an onset of 10 to 30 minutes, peak time of 30 to 3 hours and a duration of 3 to 5 hours. Furthermore, I emphasized the need for him to eat a balanced diet, and the importance of exercise. I encouraged him to eat small amount of carbohydrates during 30 minutes of exercise to prevent hypoglycemia. I also taught him that the signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia are tachycardia, irritation, excessive hunger, restless, diaphoretic and depression. He told me that he did not like to work and do any activity besides going to his job. I brought some articles about how eating healthy, taking his medication, and how regular exercise has shown to prevent, and slow down the progressive process on type two diabetes. I suggested to him to start to work around his neighborhood, and later he could find a support group of friends can walk together with.

I interviewed Mr. Dean Bond two weeks ago. He works as a Sr. Chemist for Mallinckrodt, where he has been employed for over 14 years. I estimate he is in his 40s.

I wanted to let you know we had Dr. Cohen call us twice yesterday unsatisfied with the way the report was read. He spoke with Dr. Rotblat who had read the report and ask him to change certain things that he wasn't happy with. But Dr. Rotblat told Dr. Cohen to call our front desk and ask them to get another radiologist to read it. I called Dr. Cohen today to get more information about the situation and know what could we do to help resolve the situation and make it better as well I apologize to him for the way the situation was handled. He explained certain words and Diagnoses in the report was incorrect and not true. So We had Dr. Panasci do an Addendum. I did follow up with Dr. Cohen office and spoke to Julie left

The end of an era is now upon many current and former West Virginia University students. After the 2017 spring semester there will be no more clanking of the heating system, no more puke in showers, no more shattered windows in the breeze way and ultimately no more Arnold Hall.

I would first like to say nice to meet you and thank you for your service in the Air Force. In your post I noticed you mentioned that you are a duck hunter and that you also garden in you off time. I was wondering when you first took an interest in those two things and how long have you been doing it for. As an LSU Tigers fan who did you find more entertaining to watch this year the football team or the basketball team with all the hype surrounding Ben Simmons. Another question I feel the need to ask is what is your favorite Louisiana dish to eat and/or cook? It been a while since I have been to Louisiana and enjoyed the food but it always nice to hear what the locals say are best things to eat from there.

Growing up in Southeastern Kentucky, a kid doesn’t have many expectations from their parents, school teachers, or themselves. When a student walks by two teachers talking they say, “This group of 5th graders are the worst, every one of them are as dumb as a box of rocks.” This is the sad reality of what happened in my elementary school at Marie Roberts-Caney. Our school slogan is, “No student left behind.” Ever since 3rd grade I knew it was a bunch or bologna. Don’t get me wrong, I had great parents who cared about me, but they didn’t expect much from me. Neither of my parents attended college and I was afraid of it. Even as a young student, I knew I wasn’t the brightest kid in the classroom. Now that I look back, I realize how hard I worked

I am an enslaved African American bought by an army surgeon. My owner’s name is John Emerson. Emerson bought me in Missouri, but took me and his family with him to an army base in Illinois. Illinois is above the North latitude 36 degrees 30’N, so it is a free state. We did not stay very long in Illinois because Emerson was called to Wisconsin Territory which is also a free slave state. I can’t believe that I have been in TWO free states, yet I am still be counted as a slave. Once Emerson was done in Wisconsin he packed up his family and me, and went back to Missouri. Soon after we returned Emerson passed away. Emerson was a loyal owner. Since I am property of Emerson and he is now deceased what am I? Free? Still a slave? So back in 1846, I sued for my freedom from Emerson’s wife-Irene.

I became acquainted with George Stemm after I graduated from Globe High School a little over eighteen years ago. George attended the rival Miami High School, so while the town was small, we somehow never crossed paths until meeting at the party of a mutual friends’ the summer of my graduation. At 33 years old, George has lived in Arizona his entire life and seemed to be the perfect person to interview for this subject, as he comes from a line of native born Arizonans. “I’m the fourth generation of my family to be born and raised in Arizona,” he says as he proudly displays the Arizona state flag he has tattooed on his right arm. Could there be a better subject to interview on an Arizona native’s opinion of tourists?

My eyes opened and all I saw was black, a strong rhythmic knocking noise echoed in the room. Isaac, my best friend and dorm mate was having a seizure and I watched as his body banged against the bedroom wall. It was terrifying. I was in shock and had no idea what was wrong with him, but suddenly I remembered reading about seizures in my old lifeguard manual and realized there was nothing I could really do. The optimal method was to wait and maintain his airway. I felt powerless, but eventually the seizure passed and Isaac returned to his old self. Soon after, I learned that for as long as I had known him, Isaac had been harboring a secret: epilepsy. Three years later, I saw Isaac‘s body on a gurney under the fluorescent lights of a hospital. He had another seizure, but this time, there was no one there to help. All that I have left of him are memories of who he used to be, his laughter and generous smile. My best friend lived with his illness, and he never once let it control his life. In him I saw firsthand the complexity of human health, the fragility of mortality and I’ve been inspired to pursue medicine ever since.

Time to go to the weight room announced Mr. Cohen. While i was lifting waits in the fitness room, I tried two lift 50 pounds. I was nervous because my spotter was talking to his friends instead of watching me lift I was scared that I could get hurt. when I was done, I found another partner to work with.

When thinking about the neighborhood, school has to come to mind. Mr. Ellis, my third grade teacher, prided himself on educating students. No matter the problem Mr. Ellis would try to help in any way possible, which without a doubt makes Mr. Ellis my favorite teacher. An example of the undying devotion Mr. Ellis shows Other than Everett, the Capital Area Career Center was one of the best schools around Ingham. Understudies could pick any class that fit their field of study. As the understudies work through their class they can acquire school credits which can trade to Lansing Community college or Davenport just to give a couple of cases.
