I believe that most of my professors would look at me and think that I am active, but I think that they would be surprised to know about my football career. Having the chance to play professionally for the Canadian Football League, while taking 19 credit hours, would be something that they would probably be surprised to know about. In terms of traits, I think that they would find it somewhat surprising that I am naturally a shy person. In class, I like to stay active in conversation and participation because we may potentially be graded upon this. Outside of the classroom, I am typically more reserved. I am usually more focused on things that I need to get done in order to succeed, as opposed to joining a group of people for coffee and chatting.
I was nine-years old in 1952, and it was on a brisk August Sunday afternoon when my Dad took me to my very first 49ers game at Kezar Stadium for an exhibition contest against the Cardinals, from Chicago. As I remember the weather was overcast and the temperature a cool 60 degrees.
It was just another school night in the seventh grade. Our recreational tackle football team had a practice at 730pm until 9. It was a very swampy night and from that I felt myself very sluggish. At the time, I was a backup running back. I was always left on the sidelines facing the chills of the cold wind during games. I typically didn’t get to see much playing time on the field, but that night I got my opportunity. I was receiving kicks during a punting audition and all I was doing was catching the ball and throwing it back, nothing unique. One throw after another, my coach began to praise my arm strength. Seeing me pass the ball was a true eye-opener. That night, I went from a backup running back, to the starting quarterback of my rec
My stomach tightened. I had never played free safety before. The ball was snapped, and I watched as the tailback widened out to receive the pitch. Never had I felt such an adrenaline rush.
Football is back as the first preseason game was played last Thursday. With football coming back, so does fantasy football. Like a lot of people (myself included), you’re scouring the internet for rankings. There’s plenty of rankings out there, but none of them tell you where to take a defense. I am going to present my strategy.
1.5 seconds. I had developed an automatic timer in my head, and when it hit 1.5 seconds, I was in trouble. It was physically and mentally agonizing playing quarterback behind an offensive line that was known as being the smallest (and worst) our state division has ever seen. On average, my offensive line would give me 1.5 seconds to throw the ball before getting sacked by opposing defensive linemen. During many plays, I failed to find an open receiver in my allotted time, so I ran for my life - trying to extend the play, avoid getting sacked, and most importantly, avoid getting hurt. I grew up playing wide receiver, but switched positions when our quarterback decided to transfer schools because he couldn’t handle the brutality he faced during
I think what has influenced me the most has been my decision to play football. I joined the team at a time that most would not. Our high school football team had not been doing well and had also undergone multiple coaching changes in a short period of time. I made the decision to join the team to do what I could to improve our program.
Within the blink of an eye, the fear arouses within my body. Standing before me was my friend who now was my adversary. The idea of clashing together was absurd as it only raged our feelings, but brought amusement to the spectators. The sound of the whistle blew, like a deer caught in the headlights, my body flew preparing for the worst as my body collapsed despairingly.
It was a warm fall day in late October down in Texas. Toby and his best friends, Jake, Will, and Conner were all on their way ridding their bikes to the football field to play a quick game of two-on-two. For there high school team the Red River Riders, Toby was the starting quarterback, Jake is a wide receiver, Will is a second string running back but a staring linebacker, and Conner was just a lineman but can do all that stuff better then them. When they got to the field it was Conner and Will verses Toby and Jake. Everyone switched from quarter back to wide receiver.
It all started when I got grounded.I was in my room all bored just thinking. I was thinking about some of my past actions. One of the major ones that was still clear in my mind was all the times I've hurt myself over my dumb ways or decisions. The freshest memory was when I first started to play football. I was interested in being a quarterback. But back then when I was 8 I had this dumb way off throwing one. It was like throwing a bowling ball into the air. But the feeling of the balls grip made me forget about how I used to throw it. But I did have this occasional feeling when I threw it. As if my arm muscle was being pulled. But I didn't mind for as long as I could throw far and high I didn't really care. But boi I should have listened to
''Football.'' Every one loves the game of football. I mean how can you not like football its just so much fun. To play and or watch . It's just so much excitement. Playing football I set a lot of goals . And I also achieved most of those goals. It wasn't the easiest thing to do but its really worth it . The reason I say this because it a workout. Your constantly moving every other second. So its really a good work out for teens. But my goal for football was to make a touchdown every game. The reason I wonted to score every game cause I knew that I was going to get some money every time I score. And another goal I set was to make a tackle every game . It didn't have to be a big tackle just a tackle. That's all I ask for myself every game . I
It was a Saturday and I was with Jase and Fabian and we were at the park and they started talking about football practice and I asked should I join football and they were like yeah do it it will be fun so I went with them to practice and I told the coach I am new so what do I do and he said, first of all, let's get you some pads and I said okay and he said let's go and we went to the locker room here at the middle school and we went upstairs and I tried them all on and finally one fit and a helmet I got that too then when I got back on the field and he said let's goooooo! Soo loud that I got scared and we started running and running. And I saw Jase and fabian and I felt right at home so we started running and in the middle of it I said I'm
In the late spring semester of my senior year in high school. I decided to take a risk with my future. All throughout high school I, identified as a football player. From a freshman I was placed on varsity and throughout my career I contributed heavily in games. Glaring into my history of sports I naturally believed college football was the route for me. During my final season as a high school student. I a major family set back. Lucky for me one of my teammates could not bare to see me leave during the middle of the season. He offered that I stay with him for the finish of the football season. I accepted his offer with much embarrassment and shame. For the first time the spotlight of being needy that I had been dodging all of my life finally caught up to me.
I was just wondering what was going, coach. I've gotten everything done. I didn't come to SAU just for the academics I left the full academic ride I had to come here. I want to play football. I may don't know what my position due to the fact I had no choice to play everywhere because it was a team need. I'm not really sure what Navy, Quincy, or any other school that offered where they wanted me to play and didn't really care because I like to play. I'll be honest I could've transferred, but I stayed. I lost every game there, but don't regret it due to the following: I made a lot of memories, rarely left the field, and to be a role model. I encourage you guys to check out my film to see where I can best help you guys. If you watch my film you
When I was in middle school my mom always encouraged me to work my hardest
I kinda moved away from soccer and started playing football it was my first year and wasn't sure how I would do or what I would do. They put me at inside linebacker and I didn't know what to do I just remember the coach said go for the ball and hit them as hard as possible. .
