I was always scared of roller coasters, something about them made me feel weird inside. I would go to Great America with my friends and wait outside the rides that were scary for me. I never really thought about getting on any rides that dropped at the speed of lightning and loops that make your stomach flip upside down twenty times. I would just sit down and watch the rides as they dropped. That was until one day, my friend told me “Close your eyes I’m taking you to somewhere that’s fun.” I didn’t know what she meant by that but I did what she told me to do. She also covered one of my ears I didn’t know why. “Open your eyes Steven.” I did and at that moment my mouth dropped. I tried running from the line but it was too late. My friend had made me get in line for the scariest coaster in the park. It was named “Flight Deck” .The seats were empty and the small gates opened. She pushed me into the seat and locked me in as fast as she could. I heard the snap which meant the seat was …show more content…
My hands were sweating like a waterfall. My knuckles were white from how hard I was holding on to the handle. We kept going up and up, until the ride stopped for a second. The next few seconds were terrifying. I was screaming at the top of my lungs. There were loops after loops, but then I stopped screaming. The ride was still going but I wasn’t screaming. I was enjoying the ride. The last loop came around and the ride came to a complete stop. I looked over to my friend and we both just started laughing our heads off. We rode the ride six times in a row! After that, I got on every coaster in the park. I had gotten rid of the fear. Now that I think about it, I remember the the reason I was so scared of roller coasters. When I was seven, my parents and I went to DisneyLand. We went on this huge ride named “Matterhorn bobsleds.” During the ride, these two huge monsters came out and I got really scared. But what I learned is that fear can be tolerated and can be
We were walking and then we stopped at the ride called “Boomerang”. The ride was another roller coaster. I begged my dad not to go on the ride because he said let’s go on the ride. Unfortunately, I gave up begging him and he we went in line. The good thing is that the line wasn’t really long. After waiting for twenty minutes, we finally got on the ride. I looked around and was frighten. I knew the ride would first turn forward and then backwards. The ride started and I screamed. The ride wasn’t as bad as “Medusa” which is a good thing. After the ride was done, I was happy to get off the ride.I thought the ride was actually really fun and I loved it.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson once added “What you are afraid to do, is a clear indication of the next thing you need to do.” As we were pulling into the parking lot of Hersheypark, I looked up and saw a gigantic coaster, the tallest upside down coaster in the whole entire park. Before we took our trip we did research on the best rides at the park, Fahrenheit was one of the tallest coasters with a 97 degree drop and 60 mph during the ride. I was only 10 at the time and I had never gone on an upside down roller coaster before. As we were entering the park, the rollercoaster was to the left of the entrance. I was hoping we would be able to go to the other side first so I could avoid the coaster for a little while. Just my luck, we turned to the left,
When I was around the age of 11 my father, 2 sisters and I went to disneyland. When we got there we had an amazing time going on rides, eating, and lastly just enjoying one another's company. At the time I was terrified of roller coasters but somehow my sister convinced me to get on California Screamin. While we were in line I was trembling and horrified thinking the worse was going to happen. Once the ride started my stomach felt like it was going to come out, just as a specific loop in the ride was coming up the ride stopped. We were upside down for a good three minutes until the ride kept going. The day with my family took a quick transformation from a good exciting day to a terrifying evening. Transformation obviously created fear. This can be seen in the following short stories as well. Oate’s “Where is Here,” Arthur Tress’ “Dream Collector” and Julio Cortazar’s “House Taken Over” uses
As a child, terrified of roller coasters or rides period, I never rode anything. The closest thing I got to riding a “real” roller coaster was the cheesy roller coaster at the pop- up amusement parks in the mall parking lot. That helped fuel my fear. Finally, I had to suck up my fear in the 7th grade when my best friend invited me to Six Flags for the first time and I strangely agreed to it. Fearing for the worst, I did what I knew best, research everything on Six Flags as if I were doing a project over it. I watched first person roller coaster videos, the height and velocity of rides, to deaths in the amusement park. That didn’t help my case.
I started to develop my fear when I was like around 7 or 8 when my cousin made me get on this ride with her and i didn't want to get on and she made me like Odysseus made his men stay with him in Polyphemus's cave. Every since that day I never wanted to ride a roller coaster or get on any ride
I'll never forget the first time I survived going to Six Flags. The wind blowing every time you pass a roller coaster coming your way, the screams of the children, the fear and anxiety before going into the cart, and the delicious smell of all the food! When I was little I HATED roller coasters I hated the feeling in my stomach I get when I go down, but as you know you grow out of fears sometimes and start liking new things as you get older. For me one of them was starting to like roller coasters.
We both wanted to ride the same thing first so we stood in line and waiting to go on. When we got close to the front you could see the name of the ride it was called fire ball. That name just makes it seem fast the ride was a circle shaped of obesely its going to be fast. So finally they opened that little gate so we could enter, there was these steps you had to walk up then we sat the third seat from the front. Then the ride stared moving side to side it scare me I just sat there terrified and screaming that is how scared I was. Then it started going side to side even fast to were half of the people on the ride were upside down an I was one of them so I stared freaking out and laughing I could control myself then I look over at my sister and she’s screaming her head off. That mad me laugh even more then it stared go even faster and it got to the point were everyone was upside down and there was a moment were when everyone was at the top it stopped and stayed there for a few seconds then finally it went in a couple more circles then it was
My worries had returned, it was like as if the roller coaster was calling my name!! After we finished eating, we came back to ride other rides, I saw someone that had just gotten off Storm Runner, the guy puked all over the ground. The thing that came to my mind was, “will that be the roller coaster I will ride”?! Shortly after the incident, my parents told my brother and I that we will be riding the roller coaster now, I was nervous when they said it, my family and I were surrounded by roller coasters, I was shocked I didn’t notice. I was even more shocked when we got in line!! The roller coaster I was going to get on was Wild Mouse, I freaked out!! I immediately told my parents I would not ride it, so we went on Wild Cat. Somehow Wild Mouse was scarier then Wild Cat, which I thought was dumb.
I have this fear that causes my body to shake. When I think about it, my skin becomes pale and cold. It’s death speeding through my mind. Once I have seen these monstrous roller coasters, the only thing in my mind was fear. Knowing that I’m afraid to go on these rides, I didn’t want to look like a fool in front of my friends. My mind is thinking of deadly thoughts. My palms were sweaty and I was twitching like a fish. I was petrified of heights.
I was standing in line with my sister and cousin waiting to get on the “Viper”. We were at Six Flags having already been in the long line an hour and a half. We all went on our favorite rides, then we decided to go on the roller-coaster. This was going to be my very first ever roller-coaster in my life. Then the roller coaster conductor told us to get on the coaster. I jumped in, put my seatbelt on and listened to the safety precautions. Then the conductor pressed the button and we were off.
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggghhhh!” Screamed the crowd of people as they plummeted down a drop on one of the most terrifying roller coasters i've ever seen. We were on vacation in Universal Studios, Hollywood, and believe me, I was not pleased. My dad always says I shouldn’t be scared of roller coasters, but I don't listen to him. I’m terrified of roller coasters, so since he knows I don’t listen to him, he let my little sister choose the ride I had to go on, which almost scared me to death.
Have you ever had a time you were very afraid of a scary themed event? You were so shocked you couldn’t move. All of this happened to me and my siblings in “Six Flags: Fright Fest”. My parents dropped us off because they had work to do. And they didn’t like the idea of riding roller coasters that go very high up. It all happened last Halloween (October).
The ground looked up at me menacingly. After an agonizing 2 minutes, we reached the curve at the top of the hill. As we rounded the bend, I glimpsed the drop ahead. The butterflies drummed twice as hard now. Then, the end of the curve was upon me, and we stopped! “What happened? Is something wrong?” All of the sudden, the brakes gave way. A yell tore itself from my lungs as we flew down the hill. My hands gripped the armrests like there was no tomorrow. But then, after the initial drop, excitement flared through me. “This is the best rollercoaster ever!” I thought to myself. The coaster took me up, down, and all around. It felt like I was flying, we were going so fast. But, to my despair, all roller coasters end. As we pulled up to the dismount station, I thought to myself, “I’m never going to forget this!”
exciting. So my friends know that i have the fear of roller coaster and heights so they wanted to put me on the fastest and highest ride to overcome it, but i chickened out and i didn't go on the rides they went on, i went on 2 water rides and a new one they had. Both of the water rides was fun one of them was like log one where you have swirls but then it goes up a hill then it lets you fall and all the water splashes all over you and me and my mom were soaking wet. The other was like a wheel and it was my mom and me and 4 other of my friends and the wheel would swirl around by itself and it was on a river canal and it would have dips and you would get wet and since the wheel would swirl around you would think its someone else that will get wet but yet it would be you or someone else. The other roller coaster was pretty big for me since i'm afraid of heights and roller coaster i was screaming the whole entire time and oh my goodness i was so mad at my mom because she traumatised me! After we went on the water rides my mom and i went and changed.
I said, “No,“ then the slide started. When you first went down the ride it was dark and there were scary turns, then you make a big drop and start to spin, when I was spinning in midair I was so scared. My heart started beating really fast, then I realized that my brother and I weren’t even close to being done with the water slide. Then, the next day I went on a roller coaster
