Have you ever been bullied for doing something you like? Early February 2013 my Mom and I were looking for new sports online. Then we found Spokane gymnastic I thought to myself “Oh, that sounds fun”. My Mom said to me “Next week we can go to check it out if you want to” as soon as she finished talking I said yes. Next week we went I was so happy when we were talking to the front desk lady at Spokane gymnastics she set up an appointment to see what level I am. I ended up being a level 4, I thought that was so amazing.
My first practice at Spokane gymnastics was awesome. We work a lot on the high bar (A 6 foot bar in the air that you do twist and flips on) and the P bar (2 bars that are 3 feet of the ground and a 1 foot apart) I
I work as a gymnastics coach at Trousdell Gymnastics Center. It is a recreational center that provides programs for all Tallahassee residents, specializing in gymnastics and exercise. The goal of this organization is to provide a safe and affordable program that keeps the community fit and engaged. They offer recreational gymnastics classes for boys and girls of all ages. There are also preschool and kindergarten programs for the younger children. On the other end of the spectrum there are adult classes that teach gymnastics and overall fitness. In addition, the gym offers classes for children with special needs. Finally, Trousdell offers a competitive gymnastics program for exceptional boys and girls. Three Olympic gymnasts have come through this program. Trousdell Gymnastics Center is named after a former Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Director Randy Trousdell, a man passionate about his community and the health of its children. Since it’s opening over 60 years ago the gym has impacted 500,000 children’s lives. I coach recreational classes for girls ages seven to fifteen years old. I begin every class by leading an extensive stretch and then we go to the events of the day where I set up stations for gymnasts to practice different skills. I end every class with conditioning to help the gymnasts grow stronger so that they can perform skills successfully. Trousdell Gymnastics Center coaches have a responsibility to these children. It is our goal to make the two hours a
Our hearts pounding and stomachs filled with excitement and nerves as we step into Georgian Court University’s gym. The day has finally come The Shore Conference Championship for girl’s volleyball! The gym is huge nothing like we are used to, you could practically see yourself in the hardwood floors. We are the first team to arrive so we get a feel for the gym before anyone else gets there. Including ourselves there are four teams that will have the chance to play in the final to win The Shore Conference. The first game is the semi-finals our opponent is the team Barnegat. Barnegat is known for there tall middles who like to hit the short corners, so knowing this we had to make adjustments that we are not so familiar with.
The sun was shining brightly and the snow was melting outside on a beautiful March afternoon. Inside the Marian High School Wrestling room was an entirely different picture. Inside the room there was an intense off-season workout going on. Afterwards, the wrestlers and coaches all sat down, dripping in sweat, and began joking about the wrestlers who chose not to show up to the off-season workouts. My teammates, coaches, and I began making a list of the laziest wrestlers on our team. Jokingly, I asked my coach, “Where am I on that list?” he looked at me with a straight face and said, “Trust me Justin; you are nowhere close to being on that list.”
Cheer Athletics in Plano is one of the most prestigious competition gyms in the country. There are other Cheer Athletics’ branches in other places like Frisco and Austin, but not one is as successful as Plano. It is the absolute best place to go for a serious cheerleader. The best and most experienced coaches work there and they are hungry to win. They expect every ounce of energy and athleticism to be left on the floor when we are finished performing. I have never had any problems with an authority figure until I started at Cheer Athletics.
Have you ever had a person in your life you never thought you could be friends with, but you ended up being best friends? Picking a point in my life that I know impacted my life in just one choice was easy. For me, Joining Cannon Falls Weightlifting team, was not only very enjoyable, but it gave me the opportunity to become friends with my now two best friends. So many questions to how in just ten months we went from strangers to best friends.
On the Saturday morning that the team was announced, I was wracked with fear. I was participating in a rehearsal for a dance competition with another team during the hours leading up to the time that the list was going to be posted. Trying to get through that rehearsal was nearly impossible as my attention was more focused on what color nail polish would best match my new Chiefettes shirt that I would be wearing to school on Monday. Once my mother and sister arrived to pick me up from the studio, I shook nervously in the back seat, sending messages to my other friends, waiting to find out the news. Both my mother and my sister remained silent, but I knew that they were praying just like I was that I would see my number on that list. As we
Everyone remembers that one place, that one place that instantly makes you feel good, that one place where you can completely act like yourself. For me, that one special location forever remains Texas Best Gymnastics, in McKinney, Tx. What I always adored was practicing with my team.I began competing there at the age of eight, and I competed my last competition shortly after my thirteenth birthday. However, even though I no longer spend half my time at the gym like I used to, it still invokes the same effect on me. Now that I stepped away from competing for a few years, when I look back on how stressful it seemed, I can still see all the wonderful memories I created. More than anything, I see what a wonderful impact the gym had on my life.
It all started when I was in first grade. My mom signed me up for Spring Garden Township Cheerleading, a beginning team, to see how I liked the sport. Cheer was a good fit for me because it was active and athletic. The skills that came with cheer such as stunting (being lifted into the air) and tumbling (doing flips
Although it isit's very typical one might say that they belong in a sport, especially cheerleading, it's what makes me different because of all the experiences I’ve gone through and learned from while in the sport. Like most young adults, I never really had much self-esteem and confidence in myself so I thought that cheerleading could boost that up. I dedicated most of my high school career in this sport in the hopes of me transitioning into a confident woman. However, I didn't only learn how to be confident, I also learned how to take the initiative and speak up for what I believe in. Cheerleading distinguishes me from my peers because of the woman I then became, I was more loud and proud kind of a girl. In my school, cheerleading is the most
My clinical rotation for the fall semester of my junior year is with the King’s College Men’s soccer team. As an athletic training student, I hold a lot of responsibilities regarding the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, management, and treatment of these student athletes. Most of my daily activities can be separated into three groups, the pre-practice, pre-game, during the activity, and post- practice and post-game.
Being an cheerleading for me is like the best thing ever that is going to happen to me, because I love jumping around and doing stuff that includes flexibility. I always wanted to be one since I was little but i never could participate because my parents thought i couldn't do it. When my mother realized that I was flexible and I could some of the things that cheerleaders can do she said I should try out. I can promote the school in many differents way but in good ways. I can make the cheerleading team by getting good grades and doing everything in school first. Not being disrespectful and treat others the same way they treat me back. To be an ambassador for the school I have to Keep my appearance clean, be friendly, and approachable. Another
“Let’s go blue and gold!” yelled the crowd. It was the last football game of the season. Cheerleaders and football players were hyped about the game. Their school has been celebrating this game all week. The game will be at four o’clock; be ready to have fun.
As a child, early play experience that I had started at the age of four, this play was Cheerleading. I started pee wee cheer for the Brunswick Bull Dogs in Brunswick, NY as I cheered for the boy’s football team on the sidelines. My mom always brought me to my practices, and games. This play experience applied me to meet an engage with new friends and this is what made me a well-rounded person today. My cheer coach had a great personality always a smile on her face ready to teach us new things. This was a physical, engaging, visual and the following instruction play. I was multitasking at the time and did not even realize it. We were always practicing our sideline cheers and how we could improve them for the upcoming game. We had practice clothes
Many say they would, many say they wish they could, and many say they would not change their past. We are all unique containing different experiences and lessons all of which have shaped who we are today. People try to be who they want to be by taking control of their lives. I realized I needed to control my life after always putting people's needs before mine (use something else that relates more to the essay).
My brain goes silent. I forget my problems, my issues, my struggles, and everything that makes me feel dead inside. Nothing gives me more hope and happiness, then running on floor to hanging on a bar. From the darkness inside comes a light that feels like an eternal flame that can never be extinguished. Nothing can stop me from feeling more alive. Starting gymnastics has been the best decision I have ever made and has made me the person I am today. With every move, every skill, and every moment, gymnastics makes me feel alive.
