In my previous employment to Safeway, there was a particularity high turnover of day stockers; and often, management would be too overloaded with training extraneous duties to properly train newcomers. In support of the whole team, I would take it upon myself to train the greenhorns. Over the course of a few months, (and a few handful of newbies), my success at new personnel training had gone noticed, and the turnover rate had dropped
My good friend and I were talking one day about his job at Publix. He was wanting to get a full time job anywhere and found one at Cold Air which is a wholesale company that sells original equipment manufacturer auto parts and aftermarket auto parts to stores like Advanced Auto Parts and Auto Zone, they also sell to places like Good Year. Anyway he was talking to me about applying for the job since he would be working full time there instead of Publix. However he was moving up the chain at Publix and was going to be promoted into the meat department and make $14.50 an hour. He did not know what to do so he came to me for advice. He said he would be working full time for $11.00 an hour, starting, at Cold Air, and he would be working 30-35 hours
Outback Steakhouse needs to focus on maximizing their employee retention in field that is known for high turnover rates. Higher turnover leads to higher financial loss, poor customer service, and the company not reaching their business objectives and goals. When it comes to staff attrition “studies show that training increases worker productivity, improves employee satisfaction and motivation, and consequently staff retention (Wellings, para 4, 2013)”. Providing adequate training in career advancements, customer service relations and development within the company can help avoid
Reevaluation of Walmart’s training is necessary and is supported by current research which finds that there is a link between training and expect organizational and human resource outcomes. Research find that “that companies that conduct training are more likely to have more positive human resource outcomes and greater performance outcomes” (Noe, 2013, p. 234). By determining who needs training, the skills and knowledge that needs to be taught, and the timeframe the training needs to be completed in, the training can be tailored to meet the needs of the company as well as its employees.
One quiet morning I was sitting on my couch playing games when my I heard my dad jingling his key. So I decided to get up and see what or where he was going.
I have a similar story about my first job at Safeway in Page, AZ. I started off as a bagger at 14, then at 16 when I could work a full shift I was swapped over to stocking on the graveyard crew. I was approached by the union and convinced into joining (I believe the dues were around $35 a month). Approximately three months later during a meeting, they brought up the fact that I should not be working the graveyard shift at my pay scale. Minimum wage was at $4.25 an hour, and I was at $8.00 an hour. The Union ended up putting pressure on my manager who sent me off for a week long stint of cashier school (here in phoenix). When I returned I was given a dollar an hour raise, however when I had to work on a Sunday or holiday, my rate
Have you ever tried something new? Well I did one day at Kroger a few years ago. It felt funny, because no one else in my family but my dad would eat the food, and it was also a really weird food.
Just a few years ago I worked at Kroger for about a year and a half and it was terrible I remember being miserable every time I had to go there. Simply because of the lack of work ethic of my co-workers, it was annoying. Unfortunately as a person of Mexican descent I actually care about doing a good job even when working for rude customers. As I mentioned during class I am not a fan of small talk between store clerks and myself because I know just how awful it is being on the other side of the table.
When I was working at my job in Dairy Queen one day on a Sunday I remember the day like if it happened yesterday. I was working in the drive-thru, I was having a bad kind of day but I still kept a smile on my face while I was working. I open the window the breeze hit my face it was cold and I remember the face I made it was like the face you make when ice runs down your back. I totally forgot to give the lady her napkins, five spoons and her five straws, so the lady gave me the stank face like the face a five-year-old gives you when you don’t give them any candy.
To the fabulous lady who slammed her suv door into my car (leaving damage) at Aldi around noon today, I appreciate you a lot. You gave my children a valuable lesson on taking accountability for one's actions. The fact that when I confronted you as I was in my car awaiting my husband and youngest child to come back from returning the shopping cart across the lot at the front door ( aka- reaponsible parents who dont leave children unattended and ensure adequate supervision in a busy parking lot) you looked at me and said "it was just a little bit" and then you had the odacity to just walk away leaving YOUR baby in her carseat with the car off and windows up in the middle of the day. There are special places for people like you. A simple "ohh
In the fall of 2014, I had just been hired to work as a deli clerk at the local Superstore grocery store. I was jumping off the walls with excitement as I had been pounding the pavement with resumes and cover letters for the entirety of the summer. I wanted a job so that I could save up money for a better drum set. I had been taking lessons for quite some time, but only had an old drum set that had been handed down through my family. I knew that working would not be easy, but I was determined to buy that shiny black drumset at the local music store!

I remember like it was yesterday even though it wasn't, it was a gross rainy day and my mom had just moved into her new house. We had to help unpack everything into the garage, but we stopped early because the rain started to come down really hard. My mom took me to Petsmart because we had to get new stuff for the cat we were getting. We were getting the cat from her friends house that she had known for awhile. We had heard a story about the cat that when it was a kitten his mom was an outside cat so one day the cat went out and the owners friend had locked the door and the mother cat could not get in the house to feed the kittens. Sadley all the kittens died but they had to move a dresser and when they did they found him under it and the cat
Saturday afternoon I jump down from the tractor, splashing mud up my leg, coating my feet in unknown substances since I so naively decided to wear flip flops to work. I groan loudly, and gingerly climb into my truck to make my way home for lunch, glad I have a short day at work and can make my way home for a homemade burger. These have been my weekends for years, with the exception of winters where I am blessed enough to only have indoors work. My job at Windy Ridge Dairy has been time consuming and exhausting, yet beneficial. Full time in the summers and weekends during the school year, some weekdays, of work since 9th grade (summers since 7th) has been difficult, but I’ll never regret the traits such work has brought out in me.
man , that was a crazy epic grocery store trip. It all started the moment i walked into my local walmart , i saw some pretty weird looking people they almost reminded me off chewbacca off star wars , then the next moment i was running from a title wave of coke soda that exploded down the pop sisal. The dey was new years 2016. Me and my hype man was hungry for some fried chicken and we was like “yo do you remember that sprite commercial.” we looked at each other and said “ run chicken run , fried chicken time” he threw the keys and we started to are local walmart.
I think this is very effective strategy to hire people with potential and train them on the job. This strategy enforces personal achievement and gratefulness to the company. This is the basis for increased loyalty.
