It was me and my brother living in Nebraska at age 24. It was fun living in Nebraska actually because we got to see many things together like the plant my brother grew in our backyard. Only one thing came popping up in my mind though. Ever sense that weird neighbor moved in across from us our both of our parents past away. My brother got sick and needed medical help right away but then there is me Blaine Elliott. I'm the only
When I was about four years old my dad was still working in the military. Then one late afternoon my dad calls a family meeting in the dining room then BOOM he tells us that he got a new job offer and that we’re moving virginia. I didn't really know what that meant cause I was 4 but my sister was devastated Because she had tons of friends at school and at home and she liked it. So we packed our bags and set out to virginia.
The time that we moved to Westcliffe, Colorado. I always remember the times when my parents talked about coming out to Colorado. They said it was a place where they always felt good, especially my mom. Most of the time when we were back there, I remember that my mom was sick in bed, because of the heat and humidity. It made her really sick, but when she came out here, she always felt much better. That was one of the main reasons, why we moved here, because my dad knew that mom would feel better here in higher elevation. So when the day came, I was glad we moved somewhere else.
When I turned 5 my mom took me on a trip to someplace strange, I didn’t really know where I was going all I knew was I’d finally get to meet my dad. So after about a week long trip I arrived in Laredo Texas, where we stayed for a week or so before we were driven to Austin. My life completely
One day in Nebraska, Bill was riding in his brand new 1970 chevelle. He was thinking if he could bring it to a drag strip and race that would be great. So he got online to check if there were any events and there happened to be one in one day. So he got his car all cleaned up and tooned out for the race. The next day he got up and got ready for a great day. He got into his car and head off to the drag race track. Once he got there he got his car all ready for the race just to make sure. His opponent was very experienced and you could tell he has been racing for a while. So Bill got nervous but he was ready. His opponent had a very fast car that might have had even more power than his chevelle.
Looking back out of the small window, I catch a final glimpse of corn fields and lonely railroad crossings before they dip below the horizon. For my first time on a plane, the excitement of adventure meets me as I depart from the comfort of home and enter a world unknown outside of Nebraska. Seeing the world in God’s view as the landscape evolves below, I fall in love with flying. Looking down from 30,000 feet and seeing earth on such a vast scale, I realize how much there is to discover.
Sioux County Iowa isn’t so different from any other rural county in the Midwest. We have rich and poor towns, public and private schools, good and bad police officers, and plenty of rowdy teenagers. The Midwest however is a very unique place to live. I lived in the country, about ten minutes outside of Orange City, Iowa. One summer Wednesday night at about 9:00p.m., after I had just gotten back home from work, I received a text message from my friend Jon, “Get the truck ready. Be at your house in 10”. I sighed. I knew that meant we were up to no good. I’m not sure what really bothered me, the fact that Jon was expecting me to drop all of my plans to go on another escapade, or the fact that we both knew I didn’t have any plans.
Everyday gets harder and harder to survive. The storms are getting worse. They make my husband's farm all dry. It’s very hard to find food when we can’t grow our food either. The stock market just crashed a few years ago and everything is just getting worse. Everyone in our little town in Kansas is struggling it's not just our family. Last week the dust got so bad outside we were trapped inside our house for almost two days. The wind would be so strong and the heat would also be so bad it would burn our skin if we went outside. I know the whole town is struggling even though I haven’t been outside for a few weeks. We lost all our chickens from the wind. I wonder if anyone else has lost any of their animals too? If my family was strong enough
The birds, squirrels, and fishes living in tranquility. The daylight there is an early riser, while the night feels like a mother rocking her baby; peaceful. Therefore, the nights are so still that only the beautiful harmony of the crickets could be heard. The green tree looks so alive, they were standing large and stiff. There was even the opportunity of exploring the mountain trails. It was amazing being able to experience something completely different, especially when it was just a few days from starting my junior year. The memories from that trip will be unforgettable.
Colorado, known for the Rocky Mountains, is a gorgeous place to be. The rectangular state rich with wildlife, covers 104,185 square miles. In the black timber, it is dark and silent, not a sound to be heard. The thick pine trees block out most of the sunlight, only to see about seventy-five yards. The terrain is brutal, almost straight up and down, but the elk love it because it is a challenge for hunters to see them. As I walk my favorite ridgeline in the black timber, I watch for the slightest movement and listen for the smallest crack. Watching thirteen-lined ground squirrels run around and chase each other can be humorous when they fall down from trees. My adrenaline pumps and heart races at a million miles per hour as I wait patiently
It was one of the times when we were starting a new school, in a new house, and a new neighborhood. One of my older sisters, McKenna, was planning to come and visit us down in Texas. I was starting my new school next week, which was also when McKenna was going to be landing in Texas, and something in my head made me panic. My heart was racing and my head with thoughts. I didn't know what to do, I was running up and down the stairs, going to my parents who were on the couch watching So You Think
Agony ripped through my insides like a disease. My great grandmother died in the winter of 2014. She lived in Kansas at the time but my great grandfather died and found his final resting place in South Dakota. Since South Dakota lies so far north, during the winter a permafrost covers the ground making a burial impossible. So, to bury my great grandmother with my great grandfather, my family cremated her to bury the couple together.
I remember everything like if it was yesterday. It was a feeling I could never explain. It was the weirdest thing that had ever happened to me, or to anyone. That day was also the best, exciting, fun but also sad. I’ve never experience anything like it.
I can remember sitting on my couch listening to my mom and wondering what was going to happen. I had a half of a year in high school left because I was graduating early. She proceeded to tell my brother and I that she would be moving to Georgia as soon as the summer came, four months away, and that
My most memorable childhood event was when I was 15 years old. It was the Fourth of July. A big family vacation a barbeque, over night stay and out of town trip to six flags, and I had a blast the night before me, my mom, sisters and brother packed our bags to stay the night over my cousin house in Goodlettsville ,Tennessee. She had the biggest house ever I thought it was a mansion; six bedrooms two an half bath, a swimming pool, a game/movie room with a nice big kitchen. It was something that I was not use, knowing that we stayed in a three bedroom based on an income apartment on the East side of Nashville.
I was at New York, Brooklyn to be exact I was there to visit my families like my cousins my grandparents my aunts and my uncles. I was sleeping at my cousin's apartment I was cramped on the top bunk with my cousin Nadine she's the same age as me. Nadine and I were 10. finally, I woke up and so did Nadine we climb the ladder down to the living room which is right next to the bedrooms we slump on the couch and turn the tv on.
