6th Grade Camp Wapsie Story I had never been to Camp Wapsie Before. I didn't think I would like it, but I loved it. My favorite thing to do there was ziplining. I had never ziplined before, but I loved it. I wanted to climb the tower in 45 seconds. It was finally time for me to climb. I started to climb and didn’t look down. When I got to the top I realized it was a long ways down. It took me 40 seconds to climb the tower. The instructor hooked me to the Zipline. I had to sit on the edge of the tower while the instructor unhooked the safety harness. I was kind of scared sitting on the edge.
I was very nervous about ziplining. I was breathing very heavy. The instructor asked me if I was ready, I said, “push me.”
At first I thought I was
The first time that Sean and I met was in the 7th grade at Washington Middle School. Sean was the new kid at school at the time, and when you're the new kid the teacher introduces you to the entire class. The teacher also wanted someone to give Sean a tour of the school, so she wanted to see who already knew him. I didn't know him yet, but when she asked who did I yelled out "I do!" She turned to Sean and asked if he knew me, he said yes even though he knew he didn't. As I was giving him a tour of the school he asked if I actually knew him. I told him no, I just wanted to get out of class. And that was the beginning to our
I have always wanted to go on a zipline. I break out into a sweat as I headed up the steep mountainous terrain. One foot at a time I reached for the unstable scattered pegs on the tree cautiously. As the fear of falling came to mind I stopped and thought to myself...I can do this.
My name’s Molly Simon and I am 18 years old. I grew up on a hobby farm in Quispamsis New Brunswick always surrounded by animals. After Lakefield I continued my education at Quispamsis Middle School and I am currently at Kennebecasis Valley High School. Even though I’ve only lived in Quispamsis for 18 years, my relatives and family have resided in Quispamsis since 1968 when my grandparents decided to build their cottage in this peaceful town.
My stomach twisted and scrunched up into knots after gazing up at the structure. The dreaded day had finally come: the day that I would conquer the high ropes course at summer camp. As a fourteen-year old girl who was frightened by heights of any kind, strapping on a harness and climbing up a bunch of shaky poles and shivering wires was definitely the last thing I wanted to do. Nonetheless, peer pressure got the best of me, so in order to satisfy my friends and to avoid being teased, I made the decision that I would climb up the ropes course no matter how much the voice in my head screamed at me to stop.
With the thought of finally graduating Westby High School, I had to decide what my next chapter would entail. I knew furthering my education would ultimately be my only choice, however the plan for the years to come were difficult. I contemplated for hours whether I wanted to make an extra maybe $5,000 a year or take on less student debt. With a personal finance class to help me make this decision my senior year, it was clear. I decided that to enroll at a two year institution was more beneficial for my financial standings.
I was born in Plano, Texas, with a condition called Congenital Talipes Equinovarus, also known as clubfoot. Clubfoot caused my right foot to be rotated internally at the ankle. After surgery corrected my ankle, and although one of my feet was smaller than the other, I was able to have a healthy childhood and to play sports with no issues. As a result, of my condition and the care that I received from my doctors, I began to develop a great passion and appreciation for medicine and science. This lead me to Murfreesboro, TN where I volunteered at a summer camp for children with mental and physical disabilities, called Camp Ability. Many of the children there had little options for treatment, either it was too expensive for them to receive or the
Last year, I got the opportunity to go to Snow King Ropes Course in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I had always been a fearless person and rarely backed away from a challenge. As I rode up the chairlift, the sun was beating down, and the air was cool. As I reached the top, I saw a 20-foot tall web of ladders, bridges, tightropes, and other obstacles. I so excited to begin, I did not stop to notice the obstacles farther up on the tree, which led into a heavily wooded area. As I prepared to hook into the safety harness system that would, other people in my group began climbing. I watched as they hooked in, and climbed up to a 30-foot platform that towered above the rest. I was shocked to see that there was another course, leading up the mountain. As I looked around, I noticed the sign displayed at the base of the course I had originally seen; ‘Children’s Ropes Course.’ At that point, I thought the adult course would be similar, just higher, so I bravely pressed onward. I was not
Choices. Regardless if the choice is good or bad, everybody makes them. There are times where the choices people make can alter their lives forever; this was one of those times. It was April 26, 2013, a normal friday for me attending West Middle School in my sixth grade year. At the time, I was the definition of an attention freak; I always wanted the spotlight on me. For a reason still not known to this day, I wanted people to feel bad for me. I thought that by gaining sympathy, I would be able to make friends and be the talk of the school. What I didn’t realize is that not all attention is good; some can be devastating. Unfortunately for me, I was not thinking about the effects of the choice that I was about to make. I couldn’t have possibly
Ashlyn Buchanan climbed up to the zip line and everyone turned their attention to her. She had already tried to go down, but she was too scared to go. Even when everyone that is supposed to be pulling me up goes over to cheer her on, I walk over to the ladder, to be strapped and buckled in.
It was 2047 I was in class full of Freshman's at Fort Osage High School. All of the sudden, we get an announcement from the principal saying “ the school of Fort Osage High School has to go to school year long including June,July and August but you guys get breaks one-week every three months.
The next day, Instructor assignments were announced and to my dismay, I had Jer. When we got out to the tarmac, the first round of flights were announced. I heard my name so I reported to the glider where I hopped in making sure that I put on the belts in the correct order. The wing runners centered us on the runway. Our tow plane centered up in front of us and the tow hook was attached to our nose by one of the flight line staff. “When we hit one-hundred feet you will say ‘One-hundred feet if the rope breaks then we land in front of us’ and when we hit two-hundred you will say ‘Two-hundred feet if the rope breaks then we will turn-around and land on the runway'.” He gave the wing runner a thumbs up signaling we were ready for departure. “You’re taking off by the way.” (INSERT FEELINGS) The control stick was limp at first, but began to start to increase tension as more air started to pass over the
I'll never forget the day I climbed the Santa Fe College Ropes course. I was invinsible.
I remember one time when I went to camp in Missouri for a week, one of our activities was zip-lining. I was really nervous because I have never been zip lining, this was a new experience. I was really nervous because it was at least 3-4 stories off the ground. With my anxiety it is difficult to try new things and this was something I thought I would never do. Before I got to the zip line I had to complete a rope course. I immediately felt like I was going to fall off of the rope. I didn’t fall, I made it to the board-shifting course. I was extremely nervous. At one point I slipped, and couldn’t find where one of the boards were. As soon as I got to the end of the boards, when I was about to get off, someone jumped on the entrance of the course
This trip was with a bunch of boy scouts that I had no idea who they were and I was to be with them for 3 weeks. I met lot’s of good friends and I felt welcome. My trip started off by heading to Washington D.C. We saw lots of memorials and museums. We then went to gettysburg and philadelphia. From that point on, until the Jamboree, we visited LDS sites and finally the national pro football hall of fame.
