The 21st of July, 2009 is when he vanished. He gathered his things and walked out the door. He took everything, hope, love, and happiness. I hated him, I hate him, for what he did to our family. Believe it or not, we were once a normal functioning family, both my parents worked and my 19-year-old brother, Josh, and I got straight A's. On Fridays when he would pick me up at the elementary school he would always have chosen a special treat for me. The last treat I got was on Friday was 12 years ago. He had all of his stuff in his car and he gave me a caramel apple pop. I woke up at 5a.m. this morning so I could shower and get to basketball on time. My stomach twisted at the thought of losing when we pulled into the McDougal High School’s parking lot. I ran into the building where our coach taught us the new positions until it was time to play. The ref blew the whistle and threw the ball into the air. I jumped up with my feet dangling off the ground and slapped the ball out of its orbit and ran down the court. I could feel my heart beating, I lurched to a screaming halt at the three point line and pushed the ball towards the basket. I shut my eyes hoping it would make it. I heard the ball drop to the ground and the crowd that was erupting with cheers, I opened my eyes and saw my teammates smiling. “That’s a girl!” my coach hollered as I ran towards the sideline and sat down on the bench. We ended up winning by 2 points after two overtime periods. I glanced around as I was walking to the locker room. This high school was much nicer than ours, they had full lockers and commons with tables and bookshelves. CRUNCH! I stopped in my tracks and peeled off a card stuck to my shoe sole, there was an ID with a small piece of green wrapper stuck to it. I picked it up and turned it over, it was an Alberta license that had expired 2 days ago. I shoved it into my short's pocket to remind me to figure out who it belonged to
