I wake up at 6:50 am. As I rise from my bed, as I do at the same time every morning, all I see is gray. Gray walls, gray bed sheets, a gray toilet, and gray bars. It’s strange how frequently you see the color gray in prison. Maybe it’s done on purpose. Maybe it’s done to mirror how each inmate feels.
“Reynolds, it’s shower time! Get your useless ass out here!” This is another thing I have gotten used to hearing every morning. Some power-happy prison guard telling me it’s shower time. We can only shower for 4 minutes. Timothy, my son, would hate this. I remember how he used to take 15 minute showers. He never wanted to get out in the morning, and it always made him late for school. But he didn’t care. He didn’t care about anything. He was the

I had always loved breakfast. That’s one of the reasons I felt that my wife was so perfect for me. She was the best breakfast chef in the world. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, french toast, anything I could possibly ask for, she could make better than anybody else. And for that reason, Timothy was a huge fan of breakfast as well. However, after his mother passed, his obsession over breakfast had quickly went away. He never really ate breakfast anymore. Even when I tried to make breakfast for him, he wouldn’t touch it. He claimed he wasn’t hungry, but that was only because he didn’t want me to be upset, or to realize that he was upset. But I knew the truth. That was the thing about Timothy. Although in reality he was actually a criminal, he was a very kind person. He was always trying to make others feel better. However, he also never let anybody talk to him about his emotions. At least not after his mother passed. His mother was a very emotional person. She was always talking about feelings. After all, it was her job as a therapist. I think that is what made him so emotional. His mother. And after she died, he tried to hide that emotion as much as possible. That is when he started to become lazy in school, and started to
Dustin Vaughan had a terrible game on Sunday night. He didn’t look comfortable in the pocket threw picks & just was all over the place with the ball. Showers showed poised while being very calm while in the pocket. When moving outside of the pocket he always kept his eyes downfield to look for open wide-receivers. The fact that Showers can play special teams and make tackles he wouldn’t be a waste to use for the 46 game day roster if coaches decide to use him. I also considered that the Cowboys could go back to keeping two quarterbacks and hoping they could land Showers on practice squad.
Sandstone Federal Correctional Institution in Sandstone, Minnesota has housed many an inmate including the actor Tim Allen (Rodriguez) and it ranks 40 of 50 on arrestrecords.com’s 50 most comfortable prions in the world. A well-maintained lawns leads to well-kept cells, where nonviolent offenders are kept occupied with leather making and stained glass creation. Some inmates may consider this a little boring, but anything is better than being assaulted. (Records) This paper will discuss the history and current dynamic of Sandstone, inmate demographics, services available to them, staff demographics and their style of this staff.
Starting from the beginning of Timothy’s existence, the lack of a leading male figure in his life began to shape him as an individual whom would subsequently loathe figures of authority. This is displayed numerous times during Timothy’s life, specifically
And lastly, an example that reveals Tim’s struggle is evident when he says, “For more than twenty years I've had to live with it, feeling the shame,[...].” (page 1) and “I survived, but it's not a
Without any diversion from their actuality, the inmates start to feel as though their existence is pointless. Hopkins says, “It strikes me that for most of them, prison has become a life of waiting: waiting in line to eat, for a phone call, the mail, or a visit. Or just waiting for tomorrow-for parole and freedom. For the older ones, with no hope of
The regular routine of the prison from an officer’s point of view consists of locking and unlocking cells, moving prisoners from cells to showers to mess halls, and physically inspecting units to ensure the health, welfare and safety of the prison as a whole. However, solidarity throughout the prison is non-existent – especially vital when officers are heavily outnumbered by criminals. Commands from officers are denied by prisoners, as well as other officers – communication is limited and teamwork by guards is nonexistent. Conover argues that his training is inadequate and could not have prepared him for the reality within prison walls. “You feel it
I sat in a small, dirty and crowded holding cell in Fort Bend County jail. Sitting here waiting to get processed and see the nurse, Mane! These men in this holding cell were all fucking trifling. There were cells for suicidal inmates, crazy inmates, murderers and those going through drug withdrawal. The smell of musty underarms, alcohol and feet made it unbearable to breath. It was time for me to live with the consequences of the choices I had made. The newest consequence was the foreboding environment of a small, overcrowded county jail.
One major trait that changed about Timothy over the course of House Arrest was his maturity. For example, in the beginning of the story, he says, “[something about him not regretting stealing the wallet]” This shows that at the beginning of the story, he did not regret stealing the wallet. However, later in the story, he says, “[something about him regretting stealing the wallet]” Accordingly, this shows that Timothy has realized his mistake, and has therefore matured as
This is the story of Timothy Green and how he lived a double life and planned his death. Timothy Green has a secret family in new york and had his real family in boston. Timothy was a writer and always went on “business trips” when he was really going to new york to spend time with his secret family. Nobody knew about his secret family besides his brother. His secret family knew they were the secret family. One day one of Timothy’s real daughters named natalie found a photo of his secret daughter and was searching for her and found out that she has a half sister named megan. Natalie told her mom and her mom told her she knew, she found out right before their father had died. My whole family thought i had a drinking problem because I would
There are many psychological aspects to this story. Some questions that I am going to discuss
Most of us won’t really live for a minute behind the walls in order to be empathetic with the prisoners and that’s probably the reason we normally don’t feel a thing even if we read the inner life of the American prison (Gopnik, 2012). Adam Gopnik (2012) describes the life as “ not that of lock and key but that of the lock and clock.” Time frozen behind the walls and electronic securities with panic, paranoia and
Timothy’s story is about a sequence, or timeline of events showing how being in a certain environment can help shape a child’s development. Timothy’s behavior from the beginning was a perfect example of how children model after their parents or caregiver. He was exposed to violence at a very young age from his parents, and therefore that was how he learned how to express himself. With his parents out of work and in low paying jobs, the whole family was under a lot of stress. Timothy was spanked as a result of them not dealing with their stress in a
My plans as the next owner of Rock Spring Farm are twofold. First to provide a safe haven for senior horses who are too often left without options and secondly to allow those same seniors to help parents in crisis through the Brush It Out program. My love of seniors started with Patch. Patch was an old Appy who had just blown a tendon for the third time, declared useless by those he most relied on he was headed to the game farm. Under the guise of needing a “dead broke” horse for my grandson Patch came to the farm. In caring for Patch, helping him recover from the injuries of being ridden too hard, forced to work too much, never being allowed to heal properly, I found myself recovering. Recovering from wounds hidden under too much work, too
Looking back at my original “The frog in the Well” essay from the beginning of the class made me realize how much my knowledge and perspective expanded from before. Before I used to think that individuals think and act in different ways because of the way they were raised, but this class made me realize that it’s not only that. Individuals think and act in different ways due to many different circumstances such as background, parents, environment, and other variation that involve in this.
Dwelling about my own feelings led the direction of frustration and anger as I grew older, feeling for anybody’s feelings or situations, almost non-existent; don’t miss-understand, I had marvelous times and a caring person to an extent. Growing slowly into a person whose true character lived in a cage, confined to prison and when released, it was madness, not intending to only injure, I wanted to see blood, tasting this flavor in my mouth before a confrontation. Choosing who I wanted to associate with and if others left me alone there was no problem, although, at the end of the sixth grade the nestling soul fell asleep. There was a boy in school that began tormenting me every day walking home; undesirable name calling. Eventually deciding to
