The tires made an eerie screeching noise when we came to a halt. As I sat there in shock, I remember my brother screaming my name to see if I was okay and conscious. I answered in fear and pain knowing that I was seriously hurt. I originally thought that we were going to be in an astronomical amount of trouble by my parents, although they were just glad nothing was fatal. All I could think about was how this could end my softball years. It was the day before we were leaving to go to Gatlinburg, Tennessee that my brother, Cody, decided to go get something to eat. Not even two miles from my house did we rear-end the car in front of us. We were driving down the road at a steady sixty miles per hour when the car in front of us slammed on their
We were in the streets of the neighborhood, Ann Elizabeth to be exact. We had just began to play a game of baseball with my brothers new metal bat. Mom had already left for work and my dad was getting ready to leave as well. He was running sort of late. My brother and I were about to start the game, we check around us to make sure no one was near us to play a safe game. We saw our little sister and brother at the front doors neighbor's house playing with their daughter last time we checked. As my brother threw the baseball, I was getting ready to swing then bam! Before I knew it the bat had already crashed into my little brother's head. Let me remind you that this was a metal bat. A metal bat had ran cross my little brother's head. I was so terrified. My little brother was only 4 at that time. I did not know what to do. I held him in my arms. He was still conscious. I was holding my hand over his open wound. He bled a lot. My other brother had ran to let my dad know. My dad came rushing outside,
We were driving for about ten minutes when it happened. The car jerked to the right making the most frightening screeching noise, and causing my phone to go soaring from my now trembling hands. On the passenger side (my side) I watched as we slammed into a ginormous, giant semi-truck, and I felt my heart rate go bezerk. I felt like it was a movie and I was watching this happen from above as my older sister wrenched the car to the left trying to get away from the enormous semi-truck. I next heard a scream. After realizing that I screamed I put my hands over my mouth and had the audacity to feel embarrassed even in the scary situation that we were in. After the trauma of the moment and realizing that we were both okay, I look over to my sister who is holding the steering wheel like a death grip. I tell her that it was going to be ok and that she needed to pull off the road, so we found a clear spot to pull off to and then parked the now battered car. Using my shaking hands I slowly grabbed my phone and after taking a long, deep breath I called my parents and told them what happened. Not knowing what to do we waited for the cops and my parents to show up and called our workplace explaining the situation and telling them we were going to be late for
We took off riding down the hill. He was in front of me more and more, so I took my foot off the brakes. I started zooming down the hill even faster. It seemed like it was slow motion. I was beating him but I was too excited to control myself. I forgot to press on the brakes as I passed the finish line. I hit the speed bump fast and I flew off my scooter. I looked up to my building and I saw my mom walking out as I was in the middle of the air. I fell on my arm and the shock took my breath away. This was the first time I had ever felt any real pain.
I pull my knees closer, trying to shut out the cold, although even as I do so, I recognize the futility of the gesture. I can’t preserve heat like this, trapped in a metal husk with nothing but the clothes on my back. The unyielding sheet of steel that’s been keeping me upright for what seems to be centuries was not meant for man—merely machine.
I believe that every experience, positive or negative, is worth living. This stems from learning valuable lessons from almost every experience that I have ever had.
One morning Last summer I woke up in my bed and I got up to have breakfast when I remembered it was a special day.Today is the day me and my little brother, big brother, mom and dad were going to Frankenmuth. So we had breakfast I had some Honey Comb and then I and my family were getting all of our stuff ready and getting dressed and then we all brushed our teeth and got our shoes on and then we were off to Frankenmuth. After a while we got on to the highway and man was it storming hard so it was hard for us to see in front of us when all of a sudden POP! CRACK! BUMP! We didn’t know what happened until we looked at our tires we had seen a hole in two of them we looked back and we have seen what we hit it was a Pothole. So we had to call Onstar
One is on my right foot, one is on myh right forehead, one is on my right elbow and one is on my left leg.
One night My mom, her friend Jared, and I were driving up a mountain to go camping and at like 1:30 in the morning and I was halfway asleep in the backseat squished and then are car just starts rolling backwards and I jumped up and asked “ Why are we rolling backwards?” then all of of us started screaming “AHHHHHHHHHH!!” we were going really fast and all of the coolers and a portable grill landed on my head and it was terrifying. Befor I knew it the car was completely on its side in a ditch and we could barely open the door because of gravity and I had to climb out the window. On the way down we took out at least 3 trash cans and like four mailboxes. It took at least four hours for the tow truck to come and in those four hours liken three
I can respond from my own personal experience. My husband and I did this after our son was born. What we found worked for us, others questioned it (including our parents), or we even got the occasional frown. At the time it wasn't as common as it is today for the father's to stay at home with the children.
My friend took the ACT a couple weeks ago, without studying, for the first time. She said everything went well and she will be shooting for a 22. We were so excited when she got her results back, “Open them up!” With the click of a mouse a ‘Composite score: 28’ shows up. “Congrats!” I say. An adult that I know works at a high tech company and controls most everything, works with a lot of numbers, and deals with any problems. He has the highest position in the company. “My computer is messing up when I try to click something.” I tell the help desk kids. “It's no big deal, the PS/2 port is disconnected so we’ll give you a loaner for now and it’ll be fixed by homeroom. “Thanks, what's a PS/2 port?” “It controls the
It was a summer day after supper, me and my brother were playing outside in the backyard, he was driving the four wheeler and I was on the trampoline. Once I was done and I started walking to the house he pulled up next to me and said “I’m going inside, do you want to try driving the four wheeler?”. “I don’t know how to drive a four wheeler.” I thought to myself, but I still said sure. Once I was on I gunned it like an idiot. Still I pressed down on the gas, not able to let go out of pure shock and fear. It was only right before a hill did I manage to let go. I fell off the back of the four wheeler onto the ground, that hurt but for some reason more than the four wheeler rolling over me. After I fell off and the four wheeler rolled over me it rolled back and stopped on top of me with me in
I suffered from chronic back pain which used to be debilitating at times. Now that I get regular massages with Chris I rarely have any problems at all with my back. At our initial meeting, we discussed where my pain was and he developed a massage plan specifically tailored to address my discomfort and help heal my body – I really love the effort and care he put into listening to my problems beforehand. The progress he has helped me make since then is incredible.
My senior year was all I had been waiting for. I was really looking forward to this year, participating in cross country, track and field, basketball, and soccer all during my senior year. But unfortunately, there was a depressing turn of events.
I was about twelve years old when the crash occurred. My family and I were spending some time at our fishing camp in New Roads, Louisiana. We had gone tubing and swimming all day, and by eleven O’clock everyone was worn out. I laid down on the couch to watch a movie, but fell asleep very quickly. At around one O’clock in the morning, I was woken up by a huge boom. I was very confused and was not sure what had happened. At first I thought that one of my siblings had fallen off his bed, but I was soon confronted with the actual cause of the noise. The first thing that I remember was my stepmom running into the house and yelling for someone to call 911. As I went outside the camp, I saw the damage that had been done. A man in a pickup truck had driven off the road and slammed into my dad’s truck. My dad’s truck was hit so hard that it flipped into the neighbor’s camp. When I came outside, I heard a loud moaning coming from under the trucks. The driver of the pickup truck was not wearing his seat belt and he was ejected from the vehicle. I sat there on the steps trying to figure out what was going on right in front of
We all live with our broken pieces and damaged histories. But, is there are way to look past this damage and live with a happy state of mind?
