I believe in taking risks. This doesn’t mean needlessly risking your life, but rather getting outside of your comfort zone to grow and expand. My regrets have relentlessly drilled this lesson into my head. Whether we’re willing to admit it or not, most growth happens outside of our comfort zones. We can’t repeat the same mundane process day in and day out and expect different results. This is simply insane, yet most of us do this. Rather, we must take calculated risks and ignore out irrational fears to experience higher levels of fulfilment and satisfaction. One simple example of this insanity can be found in a personal anecdote of mine. When I was around 10, all I wanted to do on my family vacations was to go swimming with my brothers. But, there was a problem. I …show more content…
Or, rather, I had never tried to swim. I had this burning desire to enter the water and swim, but my fear of drowning was totally halting this whole process. But, finally, after about a year of fighting this internal battle, I won. I held my breath, jumped in, and before I knew it, I was swimming. Even at this young age, I understood how foolish it was for me to have been afraid to take this risk towards something I really wanted. From that day forward, I began to attack my fears, rather than cower from them. Consequently, when I found something I was afraid of I would first ask myself if this fear was truly rational. If not, I would do my best to overcome it. One example of this was demonstrated when I took cold showers for 120 straight days. I had read online about how there were some health benefits to it including improved circulation, strengthened immune system, and even decreased storage of fat.
It was the day the junior high volleyball girls played Madison Grant! They were the only team that we lose to last year.We were going back and forth and back. It was a really good game. Who won the biggest rivalry in Frankton JH?
McEntyre’s Strategy #3 talked about how we live in a world full of lies. Not only this but we believe almost everything that we hear. McEntyre talks about how we need to be aware of the falsehood in our culture. She states that we should rely on each other to find the truths in a matter and be there for when we have a question about the lies we hear.
Diversity, Stereotypes, and Representation Diversity is not common in the field of animation. This leaves many character designs being made up with the same formula which consists of skinny conventionally attractive characters with light skin and light eyes. Something many companies fail to understand is that when creativity is concerned, not only is it good to be diverse but it is essential for the representation of minority groups. Having a cast with a diverse and culturally rich set of characters in a project also benefits the look and feel of a story.
"A wrong is unredressed when retribution overtakes its redresser. It is equally unredressed when the avenger fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong." With that statement, Montresor begins his tale of revenge deciding that the act must be slow and sweet and that in order to fully enjoy it, his adversary must be aware of his intentions. Hidden within those same few lines, lies not only this horrid plan, but also the true interest of its' true author. In his Cask of Amontillado, Edgar Allen Poe reveals his supreme interest in the dark side of the human mind and heart.
Most people are all grown up when they finally figure out what they want to do with their life. I was 4. I realized what I wanted to be when I attended my very first Rodeo. Even though it was so long ago I can remember that day like it was yesturday. That day got me on the path to my future.
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all” by Helen Keller. She is saying to take some risk, but your outcome could lead to a greater future. You could always play it safe and only take risks when it’s the right time as well. I will be telling you that I am both a risk taker and also playing it safe because I am not afraid to travel, I enjoy downhill skiing, and like to stay home instead of go out to party.
“Ryan, the experiment involves putting dangerous things into your body to make you stronger, thus getting rid of the disability, but the experiment also can be fatal,” my father said.
Organize my food by shopping time. Using one of the shelfs for each grocery-shopping period.
During the completion of my field experience, I was able to concentrate on the growth and development of myself professionally. Amidst the many positive experiences I gained working between experience professionals, I was also able to acquire and enhance my own teaching skills. For me the experience was an eye opener, being a future educator with little experience I was able to gain many details and exposures to the many useful resources parent have within the community. After being in several different community resources I was afforded a noble benefit from the knowledge gained from the professionals I met and the parents they serviced.
Rags of dark stained cloths lie strewn around like workers in a coal mine. Burnt smell emanates from porcelain plates covered with soot. Sunlight invades through a crevice along the wall. I cower myself under another blanket, or was it a shirt or torn skirt, I don’t know.

The cars continue to zoom by me as I begin to cry. The acrid smell of burning tires and exhaust fumes fill my nose. A horn honks, prodding me to cross, but my own indecision forbids me. My tears only make seeing harder, and now I’m crying both at that fact that I’m immobilized by fear, and at my own futility. I’m a chubby, little eight-year-old girl standing at the edge of the curb, trying cross the street. I am at the final intersection before my school, but all the crosswalk guards are gone. Earlier that morning I woke up late, so I had to ride my bike to school. The cars seem to be going at an impossible speed and veering toward me. I stand there for five minutes, contemplating whether I can cross, before I finally give up and walk back home in shame.
harder things. If that goes well then I might change it to every day. If I succeed in doing my challenge then I’ll reward myself in some manner, most likely by hanging out with friends and doing something a little more special with them. My first challenge will be talking to someone I don’t know on the bus or at the store. After that, I’ll think of my next challenge for next week and so on making each new week progressively more
Every single second of every single day, people all over the world content themselves with mediocrity. In the words of the legendary Steve Prefontaine, “To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” That is why, every second of my life I put forth an unmatched effort and dogged work ethic in everything I endeavor to do. However, I have found that throughout my life my determination goes completely unnoticed. Regardless of the fact that my drive regularly goes unnoticed, it is a quality that is integral to my character; furthermore, determination has been, and continues to be a defining characteristic in my life.
In my three years of being here I’ve learned so much. Managing time is key. In the beginning I was pretty good at it but as I got better I’ve learned how to better my time. Really in my opinion you can’t teach someone maybe to some extent you can but not really. It has to do with experience with time management you need to fail once or twice before understanding the importance and how much it really does help. In life I’ve always had an easy time with managing my time so this wasn’t much of an issue with me. My career goals have been magnified since being here, realizing that what I want to do in life might actually be my reality. In this day and age not many people can say that. Through the Ferris classes I took here I was able to save fifteen thousand
