I am a member of National Honor Society. We volunteer and help people in anyway we can. So far I have about 20 hrs of community service. I helped my teacher moved everything in his class during the summer. I helped an old woman raked leaves in her backyard. I volunteered to assist my high school's registration. I lend a hand to elementary school children and basically played and watched them. I assisted a youth wrestling tournament. There are many more services in which I hoped to help out.
National Honor Society is a great opportunity for me to give back to the community. I am Marcel Kas and I am currently a sophomore (2016-2017). I was the president of NJHS in middle school (2014-2015). Through my first two years of high school I have been able to take honors and AP courses allowing me to have a GPA of 4.143. I am also involved in many after school activities. I am currently a part of the tennis team, German National Honor Society, and the Greenfield High School marching band. I also volunteer my time to my community. I always volunteer for Polish cultural events like Polish Fest, I volunteer at church by being a lector and by helping out the priest every Friday and Sunday by being an altar boy, I am in a choir, I babysit,
Over the past year, I have served my school and community in many different ways. Whether it be through volunteering or participating in organizations that work to make changes in the lives of others. I try to stay involved in my environment. Currently, I am a student at Rockford Lutheran High School. With the multitude of clubs, my school offers, I am able to interact with other club members to promote student participation. Every year we participate in drives and fundraisers. In Key Club, each year we put together solider boxes. We collect a variety of small items and send hand packaged boxes to our fighting soldiers, as a gift for christmas. Other drives that I partake in are the canned food drives for the local food pantries, and the clothing drives to give winter clothing to those less fortunate. This helps to provide this vulnerable population with warmth during the cold winter months.
Since I was a young boy, I have always been a leader in my community. My mom worked as a teacher, so when school let out, I normally would have to come to Person and wait for my mom to take me home. While waiting for her, I would roam around the school and help out however I was needed (although since I was so young, I could not really do much). Over the years, my sense of helpfulness continued to grow, and it began to show. However, I believe I hit my first (of many) high points during Teachers would ask me if I could help them out in an assortment of different events, ranging from helping to set up band concerts, or helping man a station during the Fall Festival. Also, I joined the National Junior Honor Society in my 6th grade year, and
First of all, there are the services I do currently. As a member of my high school’s branch of the National Honors Society, I volunteer and assist in creating not only a better school, but a better community as well. For example, though I was participating in this event eight years prior to my induction, I assist in the Crop Walk on behalf of the National Honors Society. This charity, which culminates with a several mile walk throughout the town, is meant to raise money in order to assist in the funding of initiatives to eliminate malnutrition and hunger throughout the world, including local endeavors like food banks. By participating in this organization, I am able to aid in the goal to terminate this problem. In addition, I am also a part (and currently president of) my local high school’s Student
I volunteered at the Gonzales City volleyball clinic where I assisted the head coach by helping the young volleyball players learn how to set, serve, hit, and bump. I did this three times a week for three hours each day. The clinic consisted of children from ages 7-14 and each age group went in at different times. Also, I did community service at my local St. Theodore Church by helping in the jumping house at the church carnival. For the past four seasons I helped fundraise at the high school football games by selling food at the stadium snack bar. In every home football game I would stay for more than half of the game in the snack
A thorough description on what i did for community service was i help the high school wrestling team. Also i helped the Jr. high wrestling team. I went up at lunch and got the mats and laid them out on the stage. Then we put weights on them to flatten them out. We came back at the end of the day to get them on the floor. First we had to lay a huge tarp on the floor. We had to clean
In regard to community, I have volunteered for my clubs, DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), BPA (Business Professionals of America), NTHS (National Technical Honor Society), Cross Country and others. From helping the club itself to representing the club through charitable acts, such as making christmas a little better for military families, or helping at assisted living centers. My parents taught me at a young age how to be a considerate
The community service project I am most proud of is my senior project. I planned and ran a youth baseball clinic. I am most proud of this because I had a chance to work with kids who reminded me of my younger self. It was great to reconnect with why I love the game of baseball while helping someone younger with their baseball skills. Another program I’ve been involved in is the Ashland Football programs, Rent-A-Player program. Rent-A-Player is a service for people who live in Ashland that need help doing miscellaneous jobs. I was hired a handful of times, and it connected me with many Ashland residents. I have also been involved with many other community service opportunities. Throughout my last four years this has helped me connect with
For my second community service, I helped out at the Humane Society. I wanted to help all the animals that don’t have a home or a place to stay at. They are always trapped in a cage and barely get to go outside and walk around. I donate food, blankets, soap, towels, and newspaper for the animals. There are tons of animals that don’t have a home or to be showed love. At this Humane Society, anybody can walk in and volunteer to help. Helping them a little can go a long way for all the animals.

Community Activities: I have completed many hours of community service throughout my high school education. Last summer and fall I participated in Summa Health System’s Teen LEAD Volunteer Program. I completed curriculum that focused on Character Education, Career Exploration and Leadership Development. I volunteered in the Internal Medicine Center and the Detox Unit. Also, I am part of my school’s service club, Key Club, where various service projects are organized both afterschool and on the weekends. In addition to the Teen LEAD Program and Key Club, I volunteer in my church as a deacon, bell choir member, volunteer for the children’s program and Habitat for Humanity and I attended a mission trip to Asheville, NC last summer.
Community service is services volunteered by individuals or an organization to benefit a community or its institutions. My favorite community service job that I completed was located at The Junior Achievement at the Atlanta Discovery Center. The objective of this service was to teach children how to survive and succeed in the world economically through the use of time, talent, cooperation, and education. Before they came to the center students were trained by their teachers to budget money and to spend it wisely. So when they finally arrived, a real life model was presented to them. With the compelling volunteer and student interaction, we helped each student understand the theory to life and also understand the differences between needs and wants. The building was set up with different mini department stores like Chick-fil-A, Publix, philanthropy shop, SunTrust bank, home/apartment agencies, automobile shop, Belk, Kaiser Permanente, and AT&T. These shops were to help the students understand manage the differences between what they really need and what they really want. In addition, the goal was to also help build character and skills to make it in the fast-moving real world.
One way I help my community is by doing social services in my school. A social service is when a person or a student helps elders and teachers. The types of jobs I do are grading other peoples work, taking paperwork to other classrooms, and my number 1 favorite job is helping other students learn and teach them about things they don't
Since I got into NJHS I have been helping people a lot. I do community service where I feed horses and sometimes help clean and fix stables. I help a lot at the house I sweep, I do dishes, I take out the trash, and I do as much as I can to help my family.
A school or community service where I have volunteered my time is when I ran a hotdog stand for the Breakfast for Learning charity. Breakfast for Learning is a non-profit organization with the purpose to provide breakfast for children that do not have it available to them for various reasons such as financial and no parents. My role was to set up a barbecue and cook both regular and halal hotdogs which were given out to people for free, with an optional donation that would go to the previously mentioned non-profit organization.
