Go to the farmer’s market instead of the grocery store.
By going to the farmer’s market, you’re guaranteed to get the freshest in-season produce available, and the produce is---wait for it---locally sourced! Additionally, it’s a great way to connect with merchants and the farmers themselves and learn more about what you’re bringing home.

If you do go to the grocery store, shop around the perimeter.
We actually did not realize this until we read this in Blogilates creator Cassey Ho’s book Hot Body Year Round: Grocery stores place their clean, natural, and perishable items around their stores, with all the packaged stuff in between. These perimeter items include fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and seafood. So the next time you stop at Safeway, you’ll want to focus on what’s on the outside rather than the center aisles, which is stocked with the processed and packaged stuff.

ZI wish I would have kept up with my parents eating habits. They ate everything that they grew in their backyard. I called this the Backyard Diet. The Harvard School of Public Health recommends that 2 ½ cups of vegetables be consumed by adults on a 2000-calorie diet per day. Two of these cups should consist of raw leafy green vegetables like spinach, kale, or romaine lettuce. Throwing them into salads, slaws, sandwiches, and wraps should be a no-brainer. You can even eat them on their own with healthy spreads like hummus. If the thought of eating crunchy greens really is not your thing, you can put your serving in a blender with a mashed banana and natural sweeteners and mix it up for a healthy and tasty smoothie. Greens are full of fiber, essential minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants that may lower your risk of heart disease, cancer, and eye disorders. Don’t you want to feel that
