Freshman Year Football One of my favorite memories that I’ve is my freshman year of football. This is my favorite because we turned ourselves into a 1-8 8th grade team to an 8-1 freshman team. This is a good memory because we came together as a team instead of individuals. This all happened week 1 in August of 2012. One of our teammates shoes were thrown on top of the rafters in the main gym at East Noble High School. Coach Amstutz was told about the incident and the whole team was punished and was forced to run 2 miles. Our 8th grade year was probably the most apart a group of people could get from a team. We were so individualized that all we cared about is ourselves and we complained about everyone and everything possible. It wasn’t until
We’ve all had that time in our life that we were ready to give up, or quit because we didn’t care about anything anymore. Life seemed like it was getting to tough and nothing right was happening. This happened to me one time in particular that I can remember. In my senior year of football I had came across an injury in my knee. I had torn my meniscus in my left knee. It was one of the worst pains I had experienced in my life. I thought my final season was over. After learning from the doctor that I could still play but I would have to endure the pain when I played. While we’re in high school we start to get in these situations and have these sorts of feeling such as giving up and not caring what happens to us but that is not the answer to
We arrived at Smalls Field not even ten minutes later. York High’s stadium is not in the best of shape, but it still works for the game of football. Once we got there, the guys started warming up. I went to help Gianni set up the camera in order to film, and the bleachers we were on overlooked our opponent’s practice field. Gianni and I kept careful watch over their practice. It was an absolute mess. The kids were all running around yelling, cursing, and everything else without any order. There wasn't even a coach in sight. They were not setting a good example for the image of their team, or their school. We got the camera set up and went back down to the field. Max, Wil, and Gianni sat around with me and Dani since they were injured and we just talked about the season. Surprisingly enough, most of their memories were good, even if they did have a losing record. A lot of what they said was positive even if they were talking about losses and I couldn't help but smile knowing
With a score of 44 to 37, the Varsity Football Team won against the Midway Panthers last Friday night at Waco.
In my life I feel like I've been very successful, whether I was playing sports or working hard for school. When I regress to my glory days during middle school, I feel very euphoric, almost as if I was boasting to a group of my friends. I look back and see myself as if I was practically infallible. I remember how my attendance was merely perfect up until the first time I had gotten strep throat at the end of my 7th grade year.Or how my pop warner football team went 9-0 for the season, winning the championships of the Big Island.
A few years ago, my best friend, Quinn, invited me and my dad to go to an NFL game that included the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings. It was my first NFL game and the first time I was ever in Minneapolis. His grandpa got free tickets every year and gave us a pair to go with them. I was excited to go, it was my first NFL game I saw in person, and was the most enjoyable trip I have had so far.
I am at the Hillsborough Raiders Varsity Football Championship game, and the date December 6, 2015. My parents are in the stands, but I am not, I am in the football players locker room because I am the starting wide receiver on the Raiders. Everyone on my football team calls me the star of the team, but I don’t know why. I am just Vedant Chintawar, a 14-year-old Indian with brown skin, with a staggering height of 6’2. somewhat strong, glasses and with black hair, who loves football. I am the average C student, barely passing my classes. I love the New York Jets, work at Modell’s to get free items for football, and I am the best Freshman in the United States. Other people would also describe me as nice, and friendly to everyone.
I remember it like it was yesterday; looking out at the defense and trying to decide on which play to call. I was in the single biggest game of my high school football career so far. It was my first time playing the Evangel Eagles, our biggest rival and the back to back state champions. It was my freshman year, and I was the starting quarterback. So there I was, my fourth high school football game as a starter and playing against some of the biggest guys I had ever laid eyes on, who, coincidently, all wanted to tear me limb from limb. I gazed out at eleven hostile pairs of eyes across from me and racked my brain for what play could possibly work to get us into the endzone. There was just under two minutes left in the game and we were up by
In my freshman year of high school I made the freshman baseball team, a couple weeks into the season I received news that I was being promoted to the JV team. I was so excited I was gonna be able to play at the next level. That night I played in my last game on the freshman team and I broke my thumb after a bad hop. I was devastated when the doctor gave me the news that I’d be out for the season and in a cast for the next month. Soon after my coaches heard the news, I was sent back to the freshman team. After playing out all the hypothetical ways approaching the next few months could have gone for me I decided right then I was going to go to every practice and game to help my team even though I physically wasn't able to. At the team banquet
This was my first college football game I been to and it was a great experience. I heard of tailgating before, but never actually been to one, until Saturday. I went to the tailgate and got to eat free hotdogs and also got a lot of free t-shirts and koozies. At the tailgate they were a lot of people walking around playing games, drinking and dancing, all before the game started. I left the tailgate a little early to go get changed for the game so I missed the parade leading into the stadium. I went back to my dorm and decided to head to the stadium with some friends. My friends took long to get ready so we got arrived a couple of minutes late to the game. We were planning to go walking, but then we saw other people waiting for the bus who were also heading to the game so we waited with them. All the busses said GAME DAY on them and were coming about every five minutes to pick up people. It wasn’t until the fifth bus that we got on because all the buses that were coming were packed like sardines. More
I remember when I was little thinking how awesome it would be to play football and I looked up to the people older than me like in middle school or high school when I was in elementary thinking that someday I would be in that same situation.
I was an incoming freshman, two weeks prior to my first day of high school, and I was terrified. I knew that I loved the sport of football, however I had heard stories from my brother about how tough Stepinac’s freshman football coach was. Everything that I was told was true. One of the coaches great lessons that he taught me was that a hardworking disciplined team is typically more successful than a team that has all of the talent in the world, but is not disciplined and does not work hard. That summer was the hardest that I had ever worked up to that point to start in a football game. The hard work never paid off, and I left at the end of that season defeated. I wasn’t good enough, I wasn’t fast enough, and I wasn’t strong enough. I had only played in two of the games, one, for a snap when
I recently went to Marist’s first football game of the season with Peyton (in our class) and Michael Cully. Mr. Yount was our teacher that day. I showed up early and helped set up the bus and the field with equipment for the broadcast. 30 minutes until the game Michael was showing Peyton and me the in’s and outs of the camera and we got to practice with them a lot. 20 minutes until the game Peyton and I were basically pros with the camera. 10 minutes until kickoff we start undergoing problems. Apparently even though the field was supposed to have Wi-Fi for us to broadcast, we didn’t get a single bar. So up until halftime Peyton and I were playing with the cameras while Michael and Mr. Yount tried to solve the
We left Garberville, CA at 5 a.m. We knew it would be a long haul ahead of us. I slept on the floorboard of the back seat of Holly’s truck for the first couple of hours. Holly was a funny outgoing and straight to the point person. Along with us were my Mom and Dad, Dylan(Holly’s husband) and there two kids Ashley and Clayton. Dylan was a tall red head that is always the life of the party. Ashley was a short dirty blonde girl that loves her horses. And Clayton, clayton was just like his dad a big built red hair with blue eyes and super outgoing. Finally were my parents. My Mom and Dad we both very active outgoing people who got along great with Dylan and Holly and their kids so we knew it was going to be a fun week in Winnemucca. We
With my eyes glued to the ball. Just waiting for the center to snap it to the quarterback I made sure my cleats were dug in and ready to go. As the center moved the ball I charged forward shoving the center out of the way and slamming my shoulder into the quarterback and taking him down before he had a chance to blink. After the play, there was time to think to myself about the past week, the events that had transpired, the important decision I had made, and about that one sunny day at practice.
This is the story of my freshmen year playing volleyball. This was one of the toughest and most frustrating times in my life. I was edgy with nerves and had no confidence at the beginning of the season. Anybody could guess how that made me play and how often I got put in at the beginning of the season. Conquering those nerves and catching the coaches attention was a monstrous mountain glaring down at me. Climbing that metaphorical mountain taught me many things.
