I am creating a set in a blackbox style theatre which requires a 16 foot square, 12 inch tall raised acting area which also contains a wall with a door on the upstate side. The first thing I must do is create the platform. The platform is 16 ft long and 16 feet wide and 12 inches tall. I will be using 3/4 inch plywood for the flooring of my platform and 2x4 for framing underneath and support legs. Once I use my table saw to cut out my 16'x16' piece of plywood I will also be cutting four 16'x12" pieces for the sides of the platform. Then using four 12 inch pieces of my 2x4 I will be attaching the four 16'x12" pieces together using my drill and screws. Once that is complete I will be taking my 16'x16' piece of platform and attaching it to the top of my now "frame". Once again going in with a drill in screws, mind you I also used wood glue during this …show more content…
After cutting out the required measurement for the door, I also add a border around the area cut out, once again matching the measurements of the space cut out. From there I also need to attach two hinges on the frame of the door and the doorway to attach the door to the flat. I will be attaching it once again using a drill and screws. I also have to cut out a bit of the door in order to attach a working handle, which will also be attached using screws. After completing that I can now attach the three 16'x12" to the flat with the door. Using wood glue, screws and my drill I do that and leave it to dry. Once both of my pieces are dry it is now time to attach the platform to the flat. While doing this is it super important that I am using a speed square to insure that my flat is standing exactly straight up off of the platform. Once I am certain that it is straight I begin to insert the screws. This time I will be using picket screws to guarantee that my flat stays secure. After I finish screwing my set is complete and ready to be painted however it is required to be for the
In which previous exercise did you create your Wood Kit, and what views were created in that exercise?
Wood individuals are sliced and joined to make floors, dividers and the top of a structure as per the arrangement of construction archives and local building codes. Since the 1830s, two strategies for wood framing have been utilized to encourage building a structure: balloon framing and platform framing.
We made squares for our towers and then made a thick base. After that, we made one-layer sides and a flat top. We had trouble putting sticks on the side. To fix this, we glued popsicle sticks horizontally to the sides of the base, then put the original ones on vertically. We also had trouble with putting the top on, because of it being too wide across, we glued popsicle sticks on the inside and attached them to there it make them wide enough. We did us the least amount of popsicle sticks to make it structurally sound.
It is a somewhat unspoken agreement that people all have, and breaking this agreement is frowned upon. The bathroom is a very unsocial place. You go do your business and then leave, it is very simple. The social norm that I broke was talking to someone in the stall next to me, and continuing to have a conversation even when it was clear they did not want to have one.
The stone was cold and I could feel the pain swelling up inside. I took a step towards the edge, I thought to myself, “One more step and the worries would end…” if only it was that easy.
For my first item in my Me Box i chose my dog, harley’s, collar. This collar represents my love for animals. I begged for a puppy for years, and just last september I adopted her. We have four dogs, but she is the first dog that’s actually mine. My love for animals goes beyond dogs, We have all different types of animals, like: horses, cats, ferrets, hamsters, fish, frogs, birds, chickens, and even raccoons. Being around animals always lightens my mood and relaxes me.
This project of a corner cabinet with side drawers was designed to enhance our woodworking skills and to improve on our previous woodworking projects. The prompting of our construction teacher, Mr. Squiers led us to enter SKILLS USA, and as a team we decided project should be more than a woodworking display, but also a community service project and a teaching tool to introduce the younger students to the world of construction.
Most teenagers look forward to summer for long lazy days and nights curled up next to a crackling bonfire, I however look to it as the beginning of stampeding around the woods in elf ears with foam weapons in hand. Live Action Role Playing (LARP) is a collection of people from all different walks of life who come together as adventurers to exchange everyday struggles for fantastical ones. When I tell my friends how I sometimes sport elf ears instead of a cheer bow, they look at me as though I had turned into a werewolf right before their eyes, or even worse, a necromancer. For this reason and how annoying it is to explain all of the mechanics of a very complicated game, my passion for the mythical world is kept hidden.
In my hand, the tool rested between my fingers. Using any hue allowed me to create a masterpiece of my own. The honey colored wooden rod with wispy hair, carried and guided every drop of the opaque liquid paint. I held and treated the brush like a delicate rose.

It was a sunday morning. My dad came into my room to wake me up. So i got up and got dressed. My mom said to me, “there is a horse show today.” I replied back, “ok are we going to pick up Stu on the way there”. My mom said yes. So i went outside and helped my dad hook up the trailer.
Ever since I was 13, I have wanted to be part of a roleplaying community. However, I don't have a very good Windows PC, and it definitely cannot run ARMA 3, so I never had the chance. I tried Dark RP on GMod once or twice, but every time it was absolute AIDS. But then, I came across the legend that is Lew Lew, PSISyndicate, and his series on Santos RP. From the first early alpha video, I fell in love, with what appears to be a nice friendly community, with so many things to do.
All around the country, students are being pressured to figure out the next step they’re going to take after graduation. Those with a higher intelligence might have been asked the dreaded question as early as their middle school years. Adults see this question as a good conversations starter, but as a student, they feel more pressure the more they are asked. In a way it is good to have that constant reminder to be on top of the game. Having this nagging reminder, the student should strive to have their decisions made or at least their options laid out simply to have an answer for the multitude of questions they will face. It’s important to be ahead of the game when it comes to college preparations.
An engineer is then required to set out boundaries and help in the set up of formwork, which is then erected in the shape of the panels. This includes making space for openings such as doors and windows within the design. Formwork is positioned for all panels, in a jigsaw-like formation on the slab, as to allow for steady project flow. Formwork is to be created to such a height as to allow for multiple castings to be made on top of each other.
As I was doing a job search, I noticed that employers really value those skills. They are willing to pay more to someone that knows how to frame, in order to save the time and cost of training someone off the street. We have barely scratched the surface on this subject but I learned that usually walls need to be spaced 16” on center. The way to lay this out is to subtract ¾” from 16 because that accounts for half of the thickness of the stud, since a nominal 2x4 is actually 1½” thick, and half of that is ¾”. Marking your first line at 15¼ and then going 16” from there would put you exactly on the center when you start framing. Laying out for windows and doors gets trickier and more complex because even though it’s the same concept, the process is different. In this case you have a header & lay out from the center out, always accounting space for your trimmers and king studs. You’ll have cripples supporting the window and for doors & the regular studs which are the last to be
