Dear Mom and Dad, After our first trip to Oklahoma you two immediatley fell in love with the animals, how much space there was, and the oppertunities. On the long thousand mile ride back by car, you both talked and talked about wanting to move to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Us three kids didn't know weather to be okay with that or to be sad. our entire family is in Arizona;we all knew was we were going to start knew lives. In 2014 we the letter from carver right as we were heading out the to door to go get groceries, mom opened the letter first looking in shock she gave it to me; I read it as fast as I could to get it over with. I don't know what happened; but there ws screaming, hugging, and Monze asking "Mom did she get in? Mom!" Getting accepted was
Growing up I lived in the small town of Duncan, Oklahoma; although, not nearly as small as the town I currently reside in. Throughout my adolescence, I attended Mark Twain Elementary School and as I was ending the third grade, my parents decided that we should move to Fox, Oklahoma to be closer to my grandparents. Moving would bring big changes my way such as a smaller school, living in the middle of nowhere, and new ways of entertainment. Living in the country has its pros and cons, but I can tell you the only thing I could think of the night we moved out there was the cons. Eventually, I had grown accustomed to the silence, lack of traffic, and having nothing to do. Looking back I feel that if we had not moved to the country then I would
The tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamen, or better known as King Tut contained a tiny glass object colored deep blue with cobalt. Since ancient times cobalt compounds have been used to produce blue glass and ceramics. Cobalt blue was discovered even earlier in China and was used for pottery glazes. The name Cobalt comes from the Greek word for mine, cobalos and the German word for goblin or evil spirit, kobald. Cobalt was discovered by a Swedish chemist named Georg Brandt in 1739. Georg Brandt was attempting to prove that the potential of certain minerals to color glass blue was due to an unknown element because bismuth was the source that was commonly thought to at the time. Cobalt has been detected in Egyptian sculptures and Persian jewelry from
On 3-12-2017 at 08:29 hours I was dispatched to US 166 and Oliver reference a suspicious vehicle occupied by a male and a female parked on the side of the road. Upon arrival I contacted the occupants of the vehicle who identified themselves by ther KS DL's. The male was Joshua W Shwab and the female was Ashley J Stewart. Ashley reported that her and Joshua have been dating for about 9 months and decided to go to one of the Oklahoma casinos last night. They left around midnight and were heading back to Wichita when they began arguing over going to another casino. Ashley wanted to go to a different one, but Joshua did not. When they got to US 166 and Oliver, Ashley told Joshua to pull over so she could use the bathroom. Once they pulled
I am not from San Antonio. I am not from Texas. I’m from California. Where no one twangs, or drawls, or even says hi to the stranger standing in line at the grocery store. Texas, half way across the U.S and what seems like a whole other country compared to California. It is a completely different place that I could have ever imagined living and calling home. I came to Texas to find myself. I didn’t know that when I came here, but it is what ended up happening.
In 1718 Spanish missionaries founded Texas taking it as a Spanish territory. Many whites started to go to Texas and began to take over. In March 1836 Texans revolted against their Spanish rule and declared their independence from Spain. Texas then became an independent nation, but Texas could not protect themselves from the Spanish attacks. On December 29th, 1845, after almost 10 years of waiting to be accepted into the United states, Texas became part of the United States.
I am a South Dakota girl through and through. I grew up in Clark and haven’t been far away from there since graduating in 1993. I attended SDSU where I started as a music major and quickly learned that I was not meant for that classroom. My high school English teacher gave me some excellent advice during Christmas break of my freshmen year, and I never looked back! In my 16 years as an educator, I have taught a wide range of ELA, Speech, Journalism, and History classes to 7-12 grade students in a number of A and B schools in the Watertown area. I have landed back home at CHS where I have taught 9-12 ELA/Speech and K-4 PE for the last four years.

During the summer I went to South Dakota for a national tumbling meet. In South Dakota I also went to Mt. Rushmore, a car museum/scavenger hunt, and the tumbling meet.
Today marks 3 years of living in Cheyenne, 3 amazing years filled with incredible memories, many tears and unforgettable friendships. Usually around this time I would normally move to another state or even a different country, however this time it’s different I’m able to stay in the same vicinity. I have always been that person that use to dread socializing. When I moved to Cheyenne I was determined to not make the same mistake I have seem to make before in the past with a new location and new school. I physically put myself out there and forced myself to socialize, which was painfully hard at first, but totally worth it. I ended up participating in the Central Womens’ Soccer Program for the whole 3 years of my time at Central, and in that
During my trip to Louisiana this weekend, I made plans to meet two of my friends at one of our favorite restaurants. The racial composition of the group was two black individuals and one white individual. We were having lunch and catching up when a white woman who was sitting nearby with her two children came over to ask if my white friend could watch her children while she went to the restroom. She never made eye contact with me or my other black friend and the question seemed solely directed to the white individual of the group.
Perception Is Key “Deception is a tactic: use it. Do whatever it takes to win.” - Janet Morris. Deception is said to be an act or statement that misleads, hides the truth, or promotes a belief that is not true. Cassius saw Julius Caesar as an underlying threat from the very beginning of the play, a ruler with excessive power.
It was time to take Micah to Nashville and get direction for our son. A few nights before we left I was up all night. I spent time seeking God about our situation. My heart was broken and my despair was without words, but God was there, and as always He directed me. He reminded me about the time when Miranda had the chicken pox. She was just over a year old and Micah had just turned three. Micah was determined he would not get them. I was positive he would. One day in the shower God moved on my heart to pray Micah would not get the chicken pox. I felt it was crazy to ask God to keep Micah from the chicken pox. As far as I was concerned, chicken pox was a part of childhood. After all everybody gets them. God continued to impress
During summer break in august I went there with my grandma.some people might get a plane vasue the trip is so long but for us we drove down.It took us 3 to 4 days to finally get to where we needed to be going. It takes along time to get there only cause from driving so long you will need to rest so we went to a hotel every night and then we got something to eat for breakfast and dinner.
In August 2016 I had the opportunity to travel to Louisiana to help with cleanup of damage from a recent flood. My father, brother, and I went together with a group from church. At each house we went to we had to tear out ruined drywall, appliances, cabinets, furniture, door frames, and sometimes even floors. The most memorable location we worked at was a mobile home near a small stream. The stream overflowed and made the flooding worse there. The walls and floor were still damp and had begun to mold. The heat of the sun magnified the humidity to an eye-watering level. We spent much of our time there methodically tossing ruined furniture and belongings into a massive pile by the side of the road. We cut almost all of the drywall out and wrestled
Who knew one thing could cause such an impact on someone's life? Danny was impacted by a moment in his life that changed him and caused him to be different. Danny was a guy who lived alone in a home he once shared with his parents. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, where he and his K9 partner Cody were assigned to the K-9 bomb unit. Danny and K9 Cody were sent to search areas to make sure no explosives existed before troops moved in. Danny was honorably discharged from the Marines and is now a war veteran. The war was not good for Danny and it really changed him. First, he became an amputee. Danny lost his leg below the knee on his left side. The other thing that made him different was he now suffered from PTSD. Danny doesn’t
