Look, I didn’t deserve it. I didn’t accept the facts. I didn’t understand.
It all started when I heard the familiar, yet unexpected, ding of the doorbell.
As anyone would do, I unlocked my front door to my cozy little apartment out of curiosity and opened it. Looking back on it, I wish I could’ve done anything but open that door.
And that’s when I found it. The letter was ordinary and traditional. Sealed in a pale and thin envelope, it looked as if it was a person who hadn’t seen the sun in years. Shined on with the dim streetlights, it rested on the rocky and rough surface of the apartment floor entrance, staring at me. Now, don’t be fooled. The outside of the letter was as standard as a letter could be, but what was inside is what changed

And 18 King St. Waterville, Maine. Apartment 12.” “Alright. We’ll send someone over soon. For now, don’t panic.” “Thank you.” The phone buzzed obnoxiously. The lady hung up. I set the phone down. I felt helpless to defend myself against disturbing thoughts. I didn’t move for a long period of time. Meanwhile my mind did nothing more than attack itself. What if I really do die tomorrow? Will my death be painful? How will I die? How am I gonna spend the rest of my shortened life? I’m only nineteen, and I want to fulfill so much …show more content…
Infact, it never did. Little did I realize, I was wasting the little, crucial time I had left.

Time passed as I remained in that kitchen chair. Until the doorbell broke me out of my continuous, horrific train of thoughts, that is. I jumped up, and stepped towards the door. This time, I was a bit more skeptical. What if it’s another note? I shook the thought aside and listened to logic. I flicked the lock open, gripped the door handle, and swung the door open. To my relief, it was a police officer. The man looked to be in his late 20s. He was slender, suited in black jacket with a golden badge. With a set of dark chocolate eyes that matched his hair, and unintentionally narrowed eyebrows, he looked to be a man all about business. “Miss, what would be the problem?” I told him everything that I told the lady on the phone. He response was the same as hers. “May I see the note?” I started to bring my hand forward, but instead an odd sense came to me. I felt nothing in my hand. I don’t recall having set it down anywhere …

Embarrassed, I apologized to the officer and asked him to step inside while I searched for it. A minute later, I gave him what I found.
After hours of waiting there was a knock at your door. You jumped up, excitedly bouncing over to it, but once it opened your expression fell.
I walk up and down the steps impatiently waiting when a red truck drives by… I feel paralyzed. It’s a Ford, it isn’t him.
I went into the men's public restroom. Disguising myself again in a FBI suit. I had a gun in my
I Stood there at the door not sure if I should come in or to turn and walk
I snapped back into reality and opened my door. I stepped out into the narrow hallway, and I rested my hand on the door knob. The door was almost closed when I had a sudden urge to sneak one last glance at my room. Not being able to let go of my room, I cracked the door open again. My eyes rested on the skeleton of the room, and I gently closed the door.
Seeing as there was nowhere else to go, you shuffled over to the opening and frowned. It was dark and you could just barely make out a doorway to what was most likely another room. What really threw you off guard was how nicely the doorway was carved. An intricate pattern wove itself around the exit. Did that mean… someone else was here? At the thought of possibly being able to get out of here with the help of another person made you scurry over to the patterned doorway with little hesitation. The sleeves of your two-sizes-too-big sweater fell down to wrap loosely around your forearms when you reach over and grabbed the wall to peak around into the next area.
I looked around. "Yeah, maybe." She threw out her cigarette and nodded to me before walking back into her room. I stood outside, just watching room five. *What the hell could be in there?* I leaned against the door, put my ear to it and I listened. It was silent for a short while, but I heard a muffled knock come from inside. I continued to listen. Another knock. Then another knock. And then, complete silence. I kept my ear at the door, just listening, waiting. Another knock, but this time, it was against the door. I jumped back, shocked by what had just happened. I knew there was somebody or something in there and the fact that I didn't know who or what it was, had me completely horrified. I just wanted to get far away from that motel.
Waiting for the feeling, something to hit me. It became clear this would not happen until I fell asleep. After being awake for almost 4 hours, my eyes really couldn't stay open any longer. Something began to happen, I couldn't tell what. I was falling, falling again. I landed, right in the middle of reality, and nowhere. The voice came on stronger this time, much louder. It was almost like it began to yell. "Can you hear the rumble that's calling?" The voice said again. Despite the loud volume of the voice, it was assuring. It made me feel comfortable. Even though I was in some sort of weakened state, I always felt better here than I did in the real world. Something was telling me that I just needed to be freed. Whether it was the voice inside my head, or some other voice, I felt it. The voice was so showing so much empathy, it felt inhuman, but at the same time it felt so human. It felt real, I could never describe the way it made me feel, how it moved me. I wanted to yell out, with everything I had. Part of me knew it just wasn't right, I had to wait for it to come to me. I knew that everything I wanted would come soon. I know what you're thinking, how was I not freaked out? It's simple, I didn't have room for that kind of thinking. I was so relieved to feel this way, it was a feeling of release. It's like that feeling when you get into a hot tub. The deeper you get, and the longer you stay, the more your body is at
I quickly woke up to the sounds of loud sirens, I have no idea what is going on as I try to regaining my position. I'm noticing my hands are cuffed as I start to quickly realize what is going on. I start to frantically panic as my eyes finally adjust to my surroundings. I see that I'm clearly in the back of a cop car. I observed that the police officer is seeing that he is periodically looking in the rear view mirror then back to the road. I irrationally start to spit out nonsense before I solidly ask him in a shaky voice, “w-w-whats going on, why am I in here?” He looks back at me, giving out a quick chuckle, “oh you clearly know what you did darling, don't act innocent.” I then reply back, quickly giving him a confused stare “n-no

I hear the sound of a door open and close, and despite my reassurance to Adam just now, I tense up as the door open and a woman steps inside closely followed by the man who took us in.
I pushed the door with all my strength so those things wouldn't get in. With one last hard shove, the door closed and I locked it. Forceful thumps and kicks shook the door violently.
I crossed the street quickly and ran up the driveway I knew so well. I ran up to David’s front door and turned the knob out of habit. They had locked their door. I had been friends with David for I can’t remember how long and in all those years I never once saw their door locked. I knocked softly, looking behind me to make sure the road was clear. David opened the door for me with a somewhat surprised expression on his face.
A few minutes later we heard the backdoor open, then slam shut. We both looked over at the door nobody was there. We were puzzled. Jarred looked at me
I look into the eyes of my 9 year old cousin, Lee. His left eye twitches every so slightly as he smiles up at me. He holds up a toy set and I can see the glint of pride in his eyes as he excitedly tells me how he built it. “This one was a Christmas present,” he explains.
