Changing circumstances within the workplace can cause hazards because other workers can be put at risk because they haven’t been made aware of the changes and management needs to be informed. Risk assessment is a method put in place that is suitable and sufficient to control the risk to health and safety to both employees and other persons who may be affected.

Training should be given in such a way that hazardous situations can be avoided. For example: Lengthening of working day, removal of taking screening breaks etc for meeting deadlines should be avoided. You must ensure that the significant hazards are identified, and that the actual working practices are addressed and if need be, changed so as to reduce any risk. This is both the responsibility of the employer and employee, for example it is the employees responsibility to familiarise themselves with the hazards and risks in their workplace.

Within my role I have to compile risk assessments that recognise the choice and independence of residents, whilst ensuring the safety of residents and staff members. The risk assessment may be regarding social activities that may involve equipment or actions, which could cause harm or injury.

The human resources process has to accompany both the employee and employer in regard to safety issues. An employee wants the assurance of safe and healthy working conditions; anything less exposes danger to their own wellbeing. In addition employees must take heed to precautions design by the organization. However an employer wants to avoid expenditures in overhead by cutting cost or corners often putting their employees at harmful risk. In addition, organizations also have a lawful obligation in which they have to provide a safe workplace by preventing accidents, hazards, serious injuries or accident-related deaths. The issues that are prone to high risks can be surveyed by this process as a detailed survey would help overcome many hazards which can threaten the safety of patients. Examples of these issues would be disinfection, diagnostic imaging, cleaning, sterilization etc (Joint, 2007).

Proper survey and the complete scenario is taken into consideration about risks in the organization which enables the proper risk assessment. Potential of each threat or risk is evaluated and graded in order to reduce the impact of the risks or reduced the probability of its occurrence.

There are hazards all around us in our daily lives. Just to name a few, there are three issues that come to mind. These three are distracted driving, hazardous waste, and extreme weather. The less severe of these three would be extreme weather. Even though one would think that this issue would be very severe, but with this issue only happening a small percentage of the time, I consider it the lesser of the three issues. The second issue, which is more severe than the weather, would be hazardous waste. With things like household and industrial waste. The last and most severe is distracted driving.
