Are Some Decisions Base on: Perception or Reality?
Have you ever thought you heard something, but there was nothing there? Have you ever thought you saw someone in the corner of your eye, and when you looked there was no person there? When we look down from a high building on people, do they appear small like ants? Aren't there thousands of occasions when we do misperceive? What is reality and perception? Mainstream science describes reality as "the state of things as they actually exist". So reality is simply: everything we observe. Perception is the process by which organisms interpret and organize sensation to produce a meaningful experience of the world (sapdesignguild.org np). I believe people should base some decisions

I have come across this scenario in my social life and also at school. This is the first time I am involved in a situation of being accused of plagiarism. Therefore, I add it as a mark in my learning and life experiences. I am currently a student at a particular university, working hard to get good grades so as to leave with two concentrations in business. Let me share an example with my readers of an event that occurred in my life. I was accused of plagiarism. I had the choice as to how I am going to respond to it. (I use this example because it is something I have been through). I know for a fact that I did not plagiarize, and I was willing to make the truth be a reality. I can choose to see the event as something terrible and unfair to which I will respond accordingly. Or I can choose to see the event as something that will inspire me to make something more of my life, to try my best to resolve it as soon as possible, and hope I will never find myself getting trapped in this situation ever again. My teacher thought my final paper was similar in ideas to another person’s in content and structure. Therefore, she grades me down from an A to a C plus, because of suspicion of plagiarism. That was because of her perception of me, and of life which also became her reality. It did not make it reality for me and my reality was very different from hers. From this example I can see that I did not have control over
Do you think perception is reality? I do not think perception is reality. A lot of people perceive things that are not reality. Almost everyone sometimes perceives different things. Everyone has their own way of perceiving things and there are a lot of people in the world.
A long time ago the difference between perception and reality was defined as the act of understanding in contrast to the act of being real. Reality could be tricky; most of us including myself depending on scenarios of our lives tend to give in to ideas which are not applicable to reality as a whole. The best example of this is written in the short story “All Over” by Guy de Maupassant. In which his main character Lormerin is very self conscious and narcissistic also Lise de Vance, a former old love plays a big role in hurting Lormerin ego and opening his eyes by showing him, his real self. Many would say that when reality knocks it could be harsh and confusing. In the next couple of
An alliance known as the Coalition formed during the Napoleonic War period in Europe to combat the rising French hegemony. Coalition forces consisted of the four of the many major powers during this time period, Prussia, Russia, Austria, and Great Britain. Within this alliance, each nation that was involved was committed to fighting a common enemy, put was motivated to do so by different reasons. Of these reasons, one country, in particular, stood out among the other countries involved, Great Britain . Great Britain was seen as a country motivated only by self-interest and one who calls upon its allies to wage its wars. Author Michael Duffy supports this assertion in his article titled “Britain as a European Ally, 1789-1842” when he quotes Lord Grenville in stating, “We are represented as making war, and inciting all other nations to join us, merely for
In other words, imagine a fresh graduate doctor who committed plagiarism along his academic life, he assumes that he has the knowledge of being a doctor, but at the time when he is going to do his job, he comes across a situation studied during his academic life, however, on that subject to be treated he had committed plagiarism. How this doctor will deal with that issue? Even more, imagine you being his patient. Many people think which this act will not harm nobody, but will at any time, or any situation involving somebody. I consider plagiarism as a criminal act from the moment he harmful another
Perception is the way in which we view reality, ourselves, others and the world around us. The reality is the real state of things. In fact, it is how things are, whether we perceive them to be or not. Perceptions are based on experience and then experience leads to belief. Most feel their beliefs are true, however, all they have is their perception. Perception comes from how they choose to describe their experiences, or how they have been taught to understand them. Truth does not always come from experience; it comes from facts and
Partnering with the Delaware Division of Family Services, Children and Families First has developed a new program known as FAIR. The mission of Children and Families First is to help families develop solutions to meet challenges and embrace opportunities. With locations both in Dover and Wilmington Delaware, the FAIR program in particular serves families with teens who have been referred to DFS due to allegations of child abuse and neglect.
The picture of reality that is around us is always constructed in our minds. Since we don’t have access to other people’s minds we fail to see their reality. The only way we can understand what is real in their world is to use our imagination. Our imagination serves us like a pair of shoes that lets us step into their world. The more we walk in their shoes, the more we know their world, and what is really in it. However, people tend to restrict reality and define it only using their five senses. Yet, this argument fails when it comes to explaining feelings that other people have experienced. This can be seen in the book, Swamplandia, when one tries to analyze the reality of Ossie’s world and the people in it. It’s clear to see that Louis Thanksgiving is a character in Ossie’s world that is real, because of her true feelings for him, her knowledge of even the most miniscule details of his life, and overall by using our logical reasoning’s .
The opening statement of the article Looks can deceive: Why Perception and Reality Don't Always Match Up by Christof Koch reads as follows; “When you are facing a tricky task, your view of the world may not be as accurate as you think” (Koch, 2010) In this article Koch argues that a human’s conscious perception of the world is neither static or accurate. That people everywhere are incapable of being one hundred percent objective and therefore their awareness of objects surrounding them is dependent on factors such as personal strength, confidence, fears and desires. Koch states that being human is equal to “seeing the world through your own, constantly shifting, lens” (Koch, 2010)
What is reality? Is it something that shapes us and alters our entire life and everything around us or is reality something that we create? That’s a question that puzzles a lot of us but one guy in particular was puzzled a lot. His name was Thomas Young and he discovered that the laws of quantum mechanics can sometimes be altered just by looking at them. In this essay I talk about how Young devised and executed an experiment that was very interesting because it made discoveries in light waves, particle duality, and what reality is.
Have you ever wondered how someone could see things the way they do? A very good amount of people such as Phycologists say that being able to see another person’s perspective is a very good skill. Not only are you able to see their perspective on how they view things, but you really engage and make it to seem as if you were them.
The line separating reality and the illusion of reality is a blur. The line separating the narrator’s self-aware expression and his story telling is a blur. The line separating Ambrose and the narrator is a blur. All of this may blur understanding. It is clear, however, that these blurs exist because of the “funhouse”. A funhouse, Lost in the funhouse, in which exist other funhouses. Various funhouses exist in the story and in the writing. For this reason, the title Lost in the funhouse is very significant.
Perception is defined as how you look at others and the world around you. Being able to select, organize and intercept information starts the perceptual process. Perception affects the way people communicate with others. An individual’s pattern of thinking can affect their perception of others. Most people communicate best with people of similar cultures.
Silently, my senses begin to abandon their rationale…who is to say then what is real? The world that we live in, the reality, which we are a part of, is small and thus limited. That is why, in his infinite capacity for potential improvement, man created fantasy. Fantasy is BIG! To a certain extent it is more imaginative, more exciting, and more fun. Fantasy is like a lake where man throws all his ideas and dreams, and then he dives on in from the springboard of imagination. So, jump in to the lake. Why not? Just make sure that when you jump in to the lake you know how to get back from where you came from. Because, no matter how big a fantasy is, to the point that it somehow changes our perception of what is
“Reason is the illusion of reality.” A quote from Hazrat Inayan Khan, the founder of The Sufi Order in the West in 1914 and teacher of Universal Sufism. People do accept reality but when they start to find a reason of their reality, illusion happens. The meaning of reality is the world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them. On the other hand, illusion is defined as a thing that is or is likely to be wrongly perceived or interpreted by the senses. There are a lot of reasons why people often go back and forth between the reality and illusion. When a person have an illusion, it does not simply means that he/she cannot accept the reality, however, it may be because the person wants to feel more about the reality.
Explain (the main ideas and views) and evaluate (by giving arguments) the view of Heraclitus regarding the nature of reality?
