People change throughout life. People change because of experiences they’ve had throughout life. This is what happens in the book Stargirl. In the book of stargirl Leo and Stargirl change throughout the story. For better or worse. Leo started out as a character that was always worried about what other people think about him. His self esteem was always low. However, when it comes to Stargirl it's different he gets to be himself while being with her. He starts to accept how he is different and his quirky ways. He started becoming more goofy. He started becoming more confident. However, because of his doubts about the relationship he thought that stargirl should move on so she has a better reputation. Stargirl has changed throughout the
I think that Leo shows courage because he hangs out with Stargirl through the school, while everyone is shunning both of them. Of what Leo did I thought he was brave because I wouldn’t of done that but he did kinda care of what they thought. But still he stayed with Stargirl, even though it would’ve risked people not talking to him anymore. I know this because in the text it said,”We touched little fingers and walked on. Her next class was on the first floor, so we went down the nearest stairway. We were walking side by side. That’s when I noticed. No one spoke to us. No one nodded to us. No one smiled at us. No one looked at us. A crowded stairway, and no shoulder, no sleeve brushed us.”
Archie Brubaker was a retired Paleontologist who taught kids in his backyard with his cactus, Senor Saguaro. Archie taught kids from fourth grade to twelfth grade and he called his school, “The Loyal Order of the Stone Boone.” Archie has known Stargirl and Leo for a long time and has spent a great deal of time with them and looked out for them. Archie had a good impact on Leo striving to teach him about the beauty of being an individual.
Throughout time, everyone goes through changes, whether they’re big or small. Some people become a completely different person. In the story “Touching Spirit Bear” by Ben Mikaelsen, a boy named Cole changes his whole attitude towards others. Cole becomes a different person at the end of the story. Cole Matthews has a dramatic change of heart. Cole changes when he had to soak in the freezing pond, carry the ancestor rock and dance “the dance”. He also changes when he invites peter to the island, he also changes when peter accepts is apology later in the story. Everyone at sometime in their life will change.
It is commonly said, as well as believed, that change is inevitable. It is bound to happen, whether we choose to believe in this concept or not. An excellent example of change, change of character specifically, would be Eliezer Wiesel in his book Night. He wrote about his time in concentration camps, and the traumatizing experiences he went through, some of which most people can’t even begin to imagine. His mentality changed and developed more and more as the book progressed, he has clearly changed from the once religious and faith-based boy, into an anguished and desolate man.
They are two different people, personality wise. Leo then realizes that he doesn’t want the attention, so he persuades her to change, to become more normal. Stargirl then becomes susan, a normal typical high school teenager. Normal clothes, normal teenage things. Everyone was in awe, kinda as if they’ve never seen her before. She went from this amazing, outgoing person, to this boring typical high schooler. She wasn’t happy with susan, she wanted to be stargirl. It’s who she really is. She don’t want to be like everyone else, so she decided that she isn’t going to be. It might cost her Leo, but she don’t care. She wants to be stargirl, and it’s
In the book Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie, many characters went through changes in the way they act and their personalities. Scott is going into high school, with his group of friends. Scott is trying to gain the attention from Julia, his high school crush. When his friend group breaks apart, he has to find a way to make new friends. Scott was able to break out of his comfort zone, making his way through high school. Scott changed the most in Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie by growing out of his comfort zone to make new friends, and to become less judgemental of others.
Characters will change and develop throughout a story in several ways. Whether we see a character changing their routine, or changing a relationship, a character’s development is an important part of any fictional story. Many characters will develop in a way that is relatable to the readers life, whish is one of the purposes of authors creating certain characters. Many readers need a character to relate to his/her life to remain interested to see how the character will develop and maybe apply the development to his/her own life.
Through different developments, people experience multiple emotions and thoughts. Many people often do not find themselves fully going through change. As change occurs in the development of characteristics, it helps explain the full potential of what can or may be happening in a situation. The potential that may be expressed in the characteristics, can explain the development of how a person will impact with what may happen next. Even though change is not chosen, it demonstrates how someone or something can take action in what they are doing or plan to do. Character development can be shown through hormonal changes, how a character goes from being self-centered to taking a stand for their own opinion, and the transition to the realization of position just as Sammy, the main character, experienced in the story “A&P” by John Updike.
Throughout the novel Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli, several topics across the novel contribute to the overall theme. From identity, conformity to bullying, the topics of Stargirl cover everything under the Mica sun. Conformity is touched after everyone in Mica Area High School is described as conformists, blending into one another. Identity is challenged by Stargirl as she breaks away from conformity. Bullying makes its debut after the kids at MAHS reject Stargirls quirky ways. Overall, the Stargirl novel puts a fresh take on the underlining theme most people aren’t true to themselves unless they are confident.
In the novel The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson, one person who changed in the story was Jenna. She changed by having more freedom, She became more understanding, and fought for her independence. Jenna gained these traits throughout the book by understanding and accepting who she was now not how she was before the accident.
Furthermore, any person’s individuality is delicate. And extremely fragile. A friend or loved one can very easily change someone, even if it’s very slight. As kids, we have idols. People we deeply admire and wish to be like. We do anything, even while growing up, to bend ourselves to become what we feel is comfortably close to our hero. This is why we large populations torturing their bodies physically and mentally to achieve their goal. We’re all little people pleasers- fighting relentlessly for a taste of feeling perfect. On and on we struggle for approval, and we don’t even know whose. Leo, for example, would do anything to receive approval from Stargirl, the girl he loves. As she proved mutually for him, when
In life, one grows and changes in time, their overall personality goes through a transformation. You’re not the same person you were yesterday. You changed, you grew. Be it physically, mentally, or emotionally. And just like you change, so do characters in books. Take Scout Finch from Harper Lee’s fictional novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. At the beginning of the story, she’s 7 and just learning how the world works. She's scared of her reclusive neighbor and never wants to become what society expects her to be: a lady. At the end of the novel, 4 years later, she realizes that her reclusive neighbor is nothing to be afraid of and being a lady doesn't mean that you aren't strong. Scout changes by learning what real courage is, by walking in others shows, and by learning that things aren't always as they seem.
Constantly Changing often means that the person has strong feelings that can change on a dime.
Life experiences can change a person’s character. Those experiences can make a person better than they used to be, the characters will unlock a new mentality that they thought they never had. Also they better at conquering fears and obstacles. Characters in my novels go through lots of change as the stories progress. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, events change the character’s views and behavior throughout the novels. In the novels The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Treasure Island, the main characters in the stories go through a change of personality from their adventures and journeys, encounters with obstacles and antagonists, and the completion of their trials.
