In 2013, Pedro da Silva Oliveira, died maintaining in an elevator in São Luís, situated in the northeast of Brazil. He was alone doing the maintenance when received a strong electric discharge without any safety equipment. The group responsible for expertise detected live wires and water on the floor. When the paramedics came to the scene of the accident Pedro was already dead. This accident could be avoided by many ways because there is many faults in this accident, such as if he was using the safety equipment, if the site had been cleaned before the maintenance, if someone was supervising him, if the power were off. Work if electricity is always hazardous, be negligent is fatal.
The survey identified hazards to emanate from the following areas. The paint shop where chemical exposures were high as a result of the fumes generated when painting cars. It was identified that paint fumes are very toxic and could result in chronic medical conditions when employees are not well protected. The body shop was the second area that was identified for hazards. There were numerous machinery and many tools of work that were heavy, sharp, and dangerous. Especially the vehicle lifts, car rampsand, and other socialized tools. These presented possible injuries resulting from collusions and falling objects. The body workshop was a
Pedro Cabral landed on a muslum port during his journey. He made a trading post their sense lots of ships were in and out every day. He tried to make peace with the people their so he could have his business and they can still have there's. He was hoping they would act like nothing changed and he wasn’t there at all. At first they were okay with him being there but they got upset with him because he started to gain more popularity and customers. The muslims were losing their popularity and customers since he came with new goods and different ones that would be hard for them to get.
The Most Dangerous Game Comparison Recently we have read a short story called The Most Dangerous Game. It’s about a man, Rainsford, who falls off his yacht and swims to a remote island. On that island he discovers a medieval house of a rich hunter, General Zaroff. He visits with Zaroff and finds out that he hunts a “new species” of animal on that very island.
Each year about 1000 accidents at work involve electric shock or burns are reported to the
Before I start work, I ensure that the environment is spacious to avoid any accidents. By ensuring that the floor is dry and clear of any obstruction or material that could result to risk of an accident to both the service user and member of staff in line with Health and Safety first Aids Regulations 1987. I carry out checks on the residential areas and on the surroundings, fire checks and parked the wheelchairs and Zimmer frames in their appropriate places to avoid any accidents. I check to see that all doors and windows were locked and secured and areas are hazard
In the survey, 45% percent reported they did not feel safe while installing systems at utility plants. While Kelecton does not own these utility plants, they must review and, if needed, improve the employee’s safety equipment. Workplace injuries can cause a massive financial burden on Kelecton. While the visible cost of medical treatment can be high, the unseen cost can be even higher. According to Safety Management Group’s website, “A $2,500 clinic visit could easily end up costing your business $10,000 in indirect costs such as lost productivity, administrative time, insurance increases, OSHA involvement, morale, reputation risk, and media attention” (Safety Management Group, 2017, para. 1).
Due to the high rate of illnesses, accidents and injuries in the industry, the organization further developed a hazard recognition program. This was greatly supported by the directives and the standards the organization drafted. The organization also set a safety and health program. This mainly depended on the credibility of management’s involvement in the program. This program provided for the inclusion of the employees in the program. The program also provided for the inclusion of the employees in the different decision making processes such as the safety and health decisions. The employees were also to be included in the decisions that involved change in the work site practices and conditions. The program addressed hazards despite failure by the government standard to regulate it (Brain Mass, 2010).
This requires the employer to assess and minimise any risks when working with electricity or electrical equipment.
Scuba diving in the great barrier reef, sounds awesome right? Well, you’ll think otherwise once you hear the scuba diving story of Pedro. Pedro, a newly wed husband from Topeka, Kansas, was visiting Australia for two weeks on his honey moon! Pedro and his wife, Carlota, planned their trip for September because it was just after their wedding, and they had heard the water was best for scuba diving, snorkeling, and swimming from June to November. He and his wife were looking for exotic and unique opportunities while spending time there, so they went on several guided tours around Queensland, Australia.
Many employees have stated that their workplace environments are harmful and unsafe. Employee fatigue, long working hours and the hiring of inexperienced labor have not only led to hundreds of injuries over the last decade but also hundreds of deaths. The Texas City, Texas plant is just one of many in which such “life or death” occurrences have impacted the safety of employees. In 2005 an explosion that killed 15 people has been said to have occurred due to employee fatigue after being forced to work long hours that ultimately contributed to employees making bad decisions.
A social event, according to dictionary.reference.com, is “an event characteristic of persons forming groups.” Social groups are definitely formed and reaffirmed in the passage. In this particular battle, many involved would argue that there is no social aspect, but racial and familial tensions prove the opposite. These social aspects are made more interesting as we look deeper into the individual characters and components of the fight. How does Pedro’s repetition and description affect our perception of him?
“Although some practitioners see Wicca as the revival of an ancient tradition, it can also be described as a new religion focused on empowering women to create positive change. And although not all ecofeminists would characterize their movement as religious, it does have a spiritual dimension insofar as it holds the natural world to be sacred. All the movements and practices discussed here envision women as central; in addition, unlike many more traditional religions, none of them consider women to be evil or stupid. Yet no two of them see women in exactly the same way.”(Anderson, 295).
1. As a result of negligence on the part of power plant employees, proper maintenance procedures of equipment are neglected and this has resulted in the degrading of emergency equipment that has rendered safety precautions and equipment useless.
As Americans, we are very used to the scene after a new mass shooting happens: outrage, fear, and families suffering the death of their beloved ones. Politicians start debating on gun policy, again, arriving at no solution. This has been America’s reality for the past decades. The problem in which lobbyists and a dominant minority stop any attempt to find a solution. Dan Gross, as president of the Brady Campaign, is seeking to promote sensible gun control in the United States. Mr. Gross advocates for gun control and for laws that put a stop to the gun violence problem (Ted Talk). Another article by Tom McCarthy in The Guardian gives some data and ideas about what gun control would look like. McCarthy’s article gives us a context in which
Electricity is a main hazard it can cause direct injury through chocks and cause of indirect injury through causing explosions. This can cause death and injury to others, the electricity at work regulations were passed to impose responsibilities to limit the risks involved with using electricity at workplaces. Most of these accidents can be avoided by careful planning and by providing safe and suitable equipment. For example replace damaged sections using connectors or cables couplers and ensure that equipment is safe when supplied and then maintain it in a safe
