As an Oncologist they play a big role in people’s lives and help evaluate and help treat patients suffering from cancer. Cancer covers a large amount of people who have this disease which makes it difficult for an individual to have a good healthy lifestyle. Stereotypes are fix beliefs and ideals about a particular group. Stereotypes are based on exaggerated traits and a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular person or thing. Misconceptions are based on false truths and an opinion that is incorrect. Stereotypes often in society portray a group of people based on slim treats that is exaggerated. Oncologist have stereotypes and misconceptions. As of right now, when I did some research, Oncologist are very busy and very independent because they always count on the patient's family and caring. Pediatric oncologist is the field of medicine which specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers and tumors in children under the age of 18 who are suffering. This job also involves communication with parents or guardian regarding his or her condition. I want to be an Oncologist in the future because I love kids and this specific kind of job because it involves serious of business and communication. According to eHow online article, What is a Pediatric Oncologist, by Linda Hinkie she states that “Pediatric oncologist has been developed since the 1950’s and 1960’s and she also says that Pediatric oncologist usually practices in children’s hospitals and facilities”. This means that every individual who want to work as a Pediatric has to put effort work hard and have to multitask a lot. As being an independent woman that I am right now I would love this job because it is very busy and I love multitasking. Oncologist specializes in the treatment of cancer patients and specialize with radiation, surgery, and medical treatments. Oncologist can give the individual treatment for this disease, but may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation biological therapy or participation in clinical trials. Some stereotypes for an oncologist are that oh what if the nurse/doctor don't give the right treatment also one stereotype is Chemotherapy doesn't cure people who why give them the treatment.
