“Passion” is having an emotional attachment of joy and/or happiness in your life for something you’re great at doing or have strong feelings about accomplishing. Me personally, having a passion for newborn babies and caring for children till they reach the age of being a young adult, has been a calling for me for the past three years or so. Being able to identify what is causing harm or discomfort to a child can make a difference in the eyes of the patient and/or parents that have to bear with the emotional aspect of the situation. Having the desire to become a Pediatric nurse practitioner to help young adults and kids that are in that age bracket just like me get over illnesses, cancer/tumors, bone impairments or whatever the case may be has
As I begin my fifth year of working as a nurse practitioner in a leading children’s hospital, I am certain the pediatric acute care setting is where I will continue my career of service to children and their families. Although I hold a masters degree in nursing and have been a primary care certified pediatric nurse practitioner for many years, I wish to expand my knowledge of pediatric nursing to encompass the unique and challenging aspects of pediatric acute care.
Children get injured or sick every day, and it doesn’t matter whether the child goes to a doctor or a pediatrician they are still tended to by a pediatric nurse. A pediatric nurse has to have many qualities. They also have to take many different classes. A pediatric nurse’s pay can vary from location to location depending on where they are working. Pediatric nurses must endure many different things to make it into this particular work field, and have many different qualities.
Nurse practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses who have received special courses and training. They usually work closely with doctors and can perform many high-level primary care tasks. They often specialize in specific types of practice such as pediatrics, psychiatry, or obstetrics. Some establish private practices; however, most work in doctors' offices, hospitals, or neighborhood health centers. Their duties often include taking detailed medical histories and performing complete physical exams, providing diagnoses and recommending treatment plans, treating common medical conditions, illnesses, and injuries, prescribing limited medications, and counseling patients and families. They also care
The medical field has to be ran by the utmost wonderful nurses. Nurse Practitioners (NP) are Advanced Practice Registered Nurses who provide care to patients throughout the lifespan, all the way from premature newborns to the elderly. Physician Assistants (PA) practice medicine on a team under the supervision of physicians and surgeons. A nurse practitioner has a more rewarding career then a physician assistant because of the education requirements, commission, job abilities, training and advancements in career.
A young, pregnant woman is sitting anxiously at the hospital waiting to hear the results of her ultrasound. As she waits, she remembers the horrible car accident she had just been in less than two hours ago. After a short time, the doctor comes in and confirms the young woman’s fears, her soon to be twins had no heartbeat and were gone. Unfortunately, this scenario is all too familiar for me because I lost my soon to be twin nephews due to a car accident. Within a split second, my entire world was changed all because a young man did not want to stop at a red light. Although the loss of my nephews was devastating, it did inspire me to help any mother I could in hopes that, she too, would not have to go through the same pain and heartache. Because of my new-found drive, I have decided to become a neonatal nurse, which, is a nurse who works with new born babies in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Being a neonatal nurse
The Salary of an RN is about $36.94 per hour, but the work schedule of a nurse is crazy. Nurses never really get a break especially floor nurses. I have talked to quite a few nurses and they have said that since you don’t truly get a break you tend to gain weight do to constantly eating/snacking. The education needed to be a Registered Nurse would be a Bachelor Degree which is a four year process. To be a Registered Nurse or RN you will need no training. On the job you will administer basic health care which is a temporary health coverage program for low-income, uninsured United States citizens or permanent legal residents of Contra Costa County. As an RN you will being giving patients intravenous medications. An intravenous
Because of my mother’s and sister’s involvement in the medical field, I have gained a personal connection with wanting to continue in their footsteps. I am going to attend The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) to pursue my career as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I would like to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in order to provide the best care for small children. I recently obtained my Certified Patient Care Technician certification while in high school, which means I am certified to work in a hospital. The next step is attending at UAB where there is a rigorous academic curriculum, the Pre-Nursing Dean’s Scholar program, for students whose main objective is nursing. I am currently in this program, which is one stepping
Growing up I’ve always been a handful. But that didn’t stop me from wanting to help people. My goal is to become a Pediatric Registered Nurse. I have always loved children, that's why I love to look after my niece and nephew after school. They live with me in my house of 8 people, and they are busy kids. I know that I cannot rely on my parents to provide for me,my sister,my brother, his wife, and two kids for very much longer. So that is why I am looking everywhere for an opportunity to get hired for something that I am good at,so I can save up money to transfer to a University. I need to make sure that I have 60 units and to maintain my gpa in order to fulfill transfer requirements. I am extremely dedicated to my work ever since I have graduated with honors from high school.
For this research paper, the career field that was chosen was ‘pediatric nursing’. Many people would choose this particular career for their love of wellness and of people. Many just love seeing the smile on children’s faces when they say that they feel so much better. People would also choose this career path because of some lifelong skill of dealing with adolescents and children, possibly being an elder child, which is a very important quality of pediatric nurses. Overall, when most people know and feel that someone is well and is happy, it would just make them so glad that they’ve done something to help them in their path to becoming happy and healthy again.
Pediatric nursing is an important profession to us today. They devote their knowledge and skills to caring for children from infancy through the late teen years. Pediatric nursing does not just give you the opportunity to work with children, but with their families as well. I was inspired to become a pediatric nurse when I was younger. I remember when my little sister had to go to Kids First Pediatric to get a flu shot, my sister was so terrified of the needle she began to cry and try to move away from the nurse. In order for the nurse to calm my sister down she started making my sister laugh by playing peek-a-boo with her so that my sister could get her mind off of the needle. Once my sister was no longer thinking about the needle the nurse told my sister to count with her and on the count of three the nurse gave my sister the flu shot without my sister even noticing it. I found it so unique how a nurse could be playful with kids when they’re scared. I like working with kids so I know that this particular field is perfect for me.
The Oxford Dictionary defines “passion” as a strong emotion or strong love for something. Well then, I would say I am passionate about sports. To turn a passion into a career you must take certain steps in education and to develop special skills that are needed. I love to play sports, and I would like to pursue a career that lets me have the opportunity to become anything from a player to a coach. As there are many careers in the world, there is a career for anyone who has a passion.
There is numerous amount of children in the world we live on today. Those children require health care throughout their infancy to young adulthood. Pediatric Nurses are professional nurses who work with these children’s. Pediatrics is an area of expertise in which medicine focus on providing a preventative and acute care to infants and teenagers (Carlson, 2012). Pediatric nurses are important to our medical field due to the care, knowledge and skills they dedicate to children’s health. The nurse evaluates the infant, recognizes the nursing problem by examination of symptoms, and applies nursing aid (Ball & Binder, 1999).
My final week on the pediatric ward was great minus minor hiccups. The patient is C.C 11/12 months old who was admitted on Tuesday 7th November and diagnosis with acute gastroenteritis. The patient was taken over standing in bed with 0.5% dextrose/ 0.2 N/S in progress on the left hand, no redness or swelling around the site.
I also did my investigation as a school nurse. I really like your power point, it’s so refreshing and cute. I was lucky I can really practice as a school nurse and it’s not easy. The most benefit having a school nurse is school nurses save lives. I can say that because I’ve seen it as the school nurse help kids with an asthma attack, concussion, fracture, hypoglycemia.
The education gained through schooling is the baseline for the student to begin his or her career as a novice nurse. They will have a basic understanding of the objective tasks that are required of them, but will have little to no experience in the field. The clinical and simulation practice gained in school has given the nurse only a glance into the world of nursing care. There will be numerous different situations that this nurse will encumber and they will only know to apply the objective attributes they have been taught (Benner, 1982, p. 403). Take for example learning to drive; the teenager has read the manuals, learned the rules of the road, understands basic vehicle mechanics and has taken an exam for their permit. Once in the driver’s
