The passing of the Lend-Lease Act gave the United States permission to fund nations such as Britain and France, with guns, other arms. It allowed the United States get involved, while claiming neutrality. The signing of the Atlantic Charter was Churchill’s and Roosevelt’s attempt to get Americans to be pro-war. The idea behind the charter was to establish 8 principles. Perhaps the most important being prohibiting the change in territory or the freedom of trade. The US and the Allies went through the process of signing the Atlantic Charter in order to discourage Japanese aggression in the Pacific. government received an A- in the subject of “U.S. Actions on the Homefront” because of Executive Order 9066 and the unlawful internment of the Japanese on the West Coast. Executive Order 9066 was a complete failing grade because it failed to uphold the Constitution during the time of war. The U.S. government should not be able to choose when and why they want to ignore Constitution. However, the U.S. did do some things that benefitted the U.S. during the time of war. Americans grew Victory Gardens, created organization to conserve resources to focus those resources towards the war effort, and got Americans back at home, more involved in the war effort. Victory gardens were useful because it made sure there were no shortages of food and that the troops always had food to eat so they could fight. The OPA and WPD worked to prevent shortages of resources that soldiers needed such as gasoline and they also prevented inflation during the time of war. Lastly, propaganda pushed reluctant Americans get involved. This allowed money and army recruits to flood in for the war effort. The purpose of this invasion was to free Europe from the Nazis. It took place in Normandy and they were able to defeat the Nazis in about a week. It was a strategy used to take back islands, which were under Japanese control. Military Actions during WWII” received an A for their strategical planning and their winning mentality. The only reason why it is an A and not an A+ is because after the U.S. took the islands back from the Japanese, they spent some time in the Philippines, where they treated them poorly. In addition, the dropping of the nuke was only satisfactory because it was very immoral and horrible way to die. However, it does receive a score of satisfactory because it forced Japan to surrender and if the U.S. were to raid these cities it is quite possible that more people could’ve been killed or raped by the Ally Forces. The two topics that really carried the grade was the D-Day invasion and the liberation of the Jewish people from concentration camps. The D-Day invasion was the invasion that really turned the war around and allowed the Allies to defeat Germany. Although, the liberation of the Jewish didn’t really directly affect WWII itself, it was a mental defeat for Hitler, who expressed his hatred for the Jews.
