From what I have been through, my current high school experience has not been meeting my expectations. After speaking with friends and parents, I believe that Archbishop Mitty High School can provide the experience that I am seeking. One aspect I am looking for is a larger campus, school community and a safer environment. I feel that the size and location of Archbishop Mitty will help enhance my learning experience. When I arrived here at college I was extremely disappointed with the selection of food here in the cafeteria. I frequently found myself eating only hamburgers and pizza over and over again, simply because I did not like the other choices. About four months into the school year I had do go to the doctor for a virus and when the nurse weighed me I was a little surprised by what I saw. Oakland fell into the Alternative Education Law program. Students worked at their own pace and speed to complete school. Oakland High School generally graduated between 15-20 students a year. Several smaller programs existed within the school, such as Region 5, or ALC (Alternative Learning Center) program or Lincoln Tree Farm. Region 5 were for student who were in transition from just being released from either Echo Glenn or Green hill youth jail facilities. They worked with a JRA representatives and would complete school work and prepare to reenter the comprehensive high school setting. They would have no contact with the remainder of the building and programs. This program ended during the 2007-2008 school year.

I believe that Polk County Early College High School would be a great school for me because of smaller class sizes and more one on one opportunity with teachers. I feel that I thrive in that kind of setting because you can feel free to ask for help if needed, and it will be provided much more easily than in a larger class room. I am a very self motivated person and being able to complete work at my own pace would be significant. The enriched math will allow me to take my math skills to the next level and push myself to be better. This school also has the school uniforms, that way people will be more respectful and fewer people will get bullied because of what they wear. The uniforms policy will also allow me and others to focus more in class rather than boost but the new fashion trend.
