As humans we all change and by changing, other people have to deal with it. In the novel Tangerine, Edward Bloor Introduces Paul Fisher. Paul Fisher wears glasses so thick he looks like a bug-eyed alien. But he's not so blind that he can't see there are some very unusual things about his family. Paul and his family moved to a new house in Tangerine County, Florida. Adjusting to life in Tangerine wasn’t easy for paul. A new school, new friends, and a new climate. A sinkhole swallows the local school, fire burn underground and lightning strike at exact same time everyday. Also he gain the courage to face up to some secrets his family has been keeping from him. One night Paul woke up at seven, still wearing his glasses. He walked down stairs, unbolted the front door, and stepped out into the morning air. The air had a gray tint to it, and a damp foul smell. Fisher and paul watched an old red fire engine cruising slowly up and down the streets. The fire engine turned in there direction. They waved and hollered and manages to attract the driver’s attention. When the engine rolled up in front of our house and the driver got out, he came alone. Paul Fisher, the main character of Tangerine, moves from Lake Windsor Middle School to Tangerine Middle School. As you can tell throughout the book, Paul goes through jurassic changes after switching to TMS(Tangerine Middle School). Some examples of changes that Paul went through at TMS are that he becomes less nerdy, more friendly, better known, a better soccer player, and later even gets expelled from all public schools in Tangerine County for his friends.

For this essay, my chosen character is Paul Fisher. At the beginning of the novel, Paul is scared and tense. At school, Joey tells Paul how he is afraid of a lot of things and how people treat him like a dog. He mentions how he is afraid of Erik and the girls. This takes place in the present, talking about how he has problems all the time.

In this novel, all of the characters make choices and, of course, those choices have consequences. Whether they are good or bad. The people that surround Paul have made some choices that have heavily impacted Paul's life. Some are that Mr. and Mrs. Fisher allow Paul to attend Tangerine Middle School, that Paul almost got kicked out of a soccer game, and that Louis Cruz confronted Erik, Paul's brother, after Erik back-handed Tino.
Nat pulled a stool forward and sat down, leaning forward put the cigarette up to the top of the flame, the flame lapped at the cigarette for a while until the end glowed red like the embers of the fire. Nat withdrew the cigarette from the flame, put it up to his mouth, hesitating then sighed and gently put the cigarette in between his lips. It hung downwards, as he drew in a deep breathe, allowing the smoke to fill his mouth, he gently blew out and watched the blue-grey smoke filled the air around him. “Tomorrow, during the next tide, I’ll have to go out and see if there are any survivors,” Nat sighed, “If we can find anyone maybe they’ll know of a safe place.”
