Ronald Shreffler recorded the victim’s mother throughout a call with Sandusky. According to court papers showed that Sandusky acknowledged that he showered with the victim, as well as with others boys. The victim’s mother cuts off contact with Sandusky after a second call, he tells her, "I wish I were dead," according to court documents.
On June 1, Jerry Lauro, an investigator from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, takes part in an interview of Sandusky by Shreffler. According to the grand jury report, Sandusky admits to hugging the boy in the shower, and says he will never shower with young children again. Another boy was interrogated by Shreffler who reported similar treatment reported by the 6th Victim. But the investigation ends after District Attorney Ray Gricar decided the case warranted no criminal charges. Shreffler reported to the grand jury that Thomas Harmon, who headed the campus police, told him to close the inquiry. Subsequent investigative reported that Sandusky retired from Penn State's football program in the year 1999, but with an "emeritus" label that allowed him continued access to campus facilities, including the locker room and an office in the latch football

The Penn State case that came to light in 2012 is a situation that will be discussed for years to come. Before this situation was brought to light, head coach Joe Paterno was looked at as one of the best coaches in college football history. While it is understandable why former athletic director Tim Curley and Joe Paterno had covered up the situation. They desired to maintain the integrity of the Penn State Nittany Lions football program, and they would do that at whatever cost. However, I agree with you that I too would have acted polar opposite and immediately turned the situation over to the authorities and terminated the employment of Jerry Sandusky. This is not a situation that Curley and Paterno should have covered up, and Penn
For over thirty years Gerald “Jerry” Sandusky abused the trust of the residents of Happy Valley, Pennsylvania. For over thirty years Jerry Sandusky robbed, traumatized, and manipulated over half a dozen innocent boys. And in those thirty years numerous individuals knew and remained silence, and watched Jerry violate these children. Jerry used his organization, second mile, as a shield to lure in his victims, showered them with gifts, attention and special trips to Penn State esteemed football facility. On those trips, numerous times concluded with inappropriate molestation and even penetration.
"I received from Mr. Rachell the newspaper article about other sexual assaults. Since there were very few similarities and connection between the sexual assaults and the sexual assault Mr. Rachell was accused of committing, I did not believe that this information from Mr. Rachell merited much investigation.” Roma Khanna. Gerald Arthur “Jerry” Sandusky is an American convicted child molester, serial rapist and retired college football coach. Sandusky was born on January 26, 1944 in Washington, Pennsylvania. His parents, Arthur and Evelyn Sandusky, ran a community center known as “The Brownson House” a community recreation center for children. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, Sandusky excelled at sports and did well in school. After graduating from Washington High School, Sandusky went to Pennsylvania State University from where he earned a bachelor's and master’s degree in health and physical education. There, he played defensive end on the school's football team from 1963 to 1965.
In regards to the Gerald A. Sandusky case, which began in June 11th 2012 and ended on October 9th 2012. We are presented with a case where an individual was given unlimited access to young boys of all ages, some from poor and underprivileged backgrounds. Of the 52 charges Mr. Sandusky received, 4 charges were initially dropped, leaving 48. On June 22, 2012, Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts of sexual abuse. Sandusky was sentenced on October 9, 2012, to a minimum of 30 years and a maximum of 60 years in prison (Klein, Tolson,
It has been five years since the unfolding of Penn State University’s scandal as well as the conviction involving Jerry Sandusky, the ex-assistant football coach. “Sandusky, 73, is pursuing an appeal under the state's Post Conviction Relief Act as he serves a 30- to 60-year prison sentence” (Scolforo, 2017). Apparently Sandusky has filed an appeal to the courts and his appeal lawyers are stating that he did not get fair representation he need during his trial in 2012. “They argue that prosecutors should have turned over information that some of Sandusky's victims had changed their stories, and that grand jury leaks compromised the fairness of the proceedings” (Scolforo, 2017). Sandusky is looking to seek a new trial and dismissal of charges that he was convicted of.
Since the scandal at Penn State a lot of things have been happening around the case. For starters, Jerry Sandusky was charged with 45 counts of child molestation. Up until the verdict, Sandusky had told the press and others that he had loved the kids which was said to have been taken out of context. After being charged with the 45 counts of child molestation, Sandusky was given no less than 30, but no more than 60 years in prison for the crimes committed. The case at this moment has cost the school right at a quarter of a billion dollars, half of that being in lawyers fees alone. The university has settled with 33 people over allegations they were sexually abused by Sandusky, and has made total payments to them of $93 million (2017). The administrators
In November of 2012, then president of PSU was indicted for grand jury perjury, obstruction of justice, child endangerment, failure to report child abuse and conspiracy in connection with the scandal (Sokolove, 2014). Then Coach Joe Paterno was not charged in relation to the Sandusky scandal, however, he died of cancer shortly after Sandusky’s arrest and his firing from PSU.
“The Freeh Report” alleged that Penn State officials, including that Joe Paterno and Graham Spanier (Spanier), covered up Sandusky’s crimes (Ganim, 2013). Furthermore, that evidence resulting evidence revealed Spanier, Gary Schultz (Schultz), Joe Paterno (Paterno), and Tim Curley (Curley), repetitively concealed critical facts related to Sandusky’s child abuse from multiple authoritative, community, and general public figures (Ganim, 2013). In addition, it was reported that Cynthia Baldwin, the in-house counsel for Penn State, minimized the seriousness of the Sandusky investigation when she briefed the trustees (Ganim, 2013).

Spohn, Beichner, and Davis-Frenzel do not conduct a field study as Frohmann does, instead they examined all sexual assault cases cleared by arrest in Miami Florida in 1997. They did however replicate Frohmann’s design of interviewing a sample of the prosecutors who handled the cases. By using this different method of research, Spohn, Beichner, and Davis-Frenzel’s are able to show the frequency in which prosecutors used discrepant accounts and ulterior motives to reject cases. This extends upon Frohmann’s research. Their findings that, “charging decisions primarily reflect the prosecutor’s assessment of the likelihood of conviction” (Spohn, et al. 2001, p. 206) is consistent with Frohmann 's Findings. They also agreed with Frohmann’s categories of typifications, however they found that a substantial amount of cases were rejected for reasons other than discrediting the victim such as, the victim’s failure to appear for a pretrial interview, refusal to cooperate in the prosecution of the case, or admission that the charges were fabricated (Spohn, et al. 2001).
Everything was looking good for Joe Paterno and Penn State football as his football managing career rose with an overall record of 298-136-3 but in 2011, all that changed. Back in 2000 a janitor of Penn State witnessed Sandusky receiving oral sex from a young boy, the janitor reported what he saw to co-workers and his supervisor but none of these men reported these actions to authorities. It wasn’t until November 5, 2011 that Sandusky was arrested on a $100,000 bail and up to 40 criminal counts. ESPN were quickly in the scene to investigate and report the allegations on Sandusky. They quickly reported saying Sandusky was charged with more than 50 counts of child sex-abuse involving 10 boys he met through The Second
