Overcoming an obstacle of any kind can be challenging. The biggest obstacle I have overcome is having a child at the age of 17. Having children can be difficult, especially at a young age. Education has always been important to me and I was unsure how I was going to be able to finish high school, much less go to college, while having a baby. To overcome this obstacle in my life, I focused on the determination I had to provide a good life for my child. The determination I had to provide a good life for my child meant that I had to find a way to get an education at the same time. To achieve this goal, I had to be organized and remain positive. I took online classes for my senior year of high school, as well as college. Harrington (2012) states
Most of my life I have been an introvert and unusually humble. This obstacle had set me back from attempting new hobbies and even affected my grades in school. It has taken a lengthy amount of time to overcome this behavior and have only recently overcome it.
Surviving high school is no easy task. From the very first day of class, students are forced to find comradery in various social circles. These cliques can range from sports jocks, to math and band geeks, to school club members, and to the social outcasts who could care less about school. While there are more various types of groups, the most common are the jocks and the nerds. As far as everybody in the school in concerned, the popular athletes and the “wimpy” nerds are from two very different planets. However, while there are a lot of differences between the two as far as physical appearance goes, I had the honor of being part of both worlds, and I know for a fact that they have more in common than either would care to admit.
Beep! Beep! Beep! The piercing sound of my phone alarm jolted me to sit upright. Reluctantly, I woke up disregarding the fact that I had only slept for five hours. The lack of sleep tempted me to return to bed, but the uneasy feeling I had of missing my first day of high school convinced me otherwise. About an hour or two passed after this incident, and I have arrived at Passaic County Technical Institute’s campus that looked as if the land continued for miles with almost no clouds in sight. I entered my first year of high school as a lonely student who did not know what to forecast. However, looking back on these last four years, one thing is for sure is that I have encountered obstacles that other people may not have had the pleasure to face.
Many people struggle in high school. I’m doing alright, and I’ll tell you why. I’ve decided to focus my essay on what steps and tactics I used to have a good high school experience, things that I also plan to use in college. I’ll sum it all up in 5 steps too. If you think I deserve a scholarship, hey I’ll take it. If not, life goes on.
Overcoming these obstacles has made me a mature and strong individual. I am proud of what I have accomplished, even with the hardships that I have had to face and my biggest goal is to make my parents proud.
At many state legislature meetings, the issue for driving has been brought up. The citizens of the state legislature want to consider a bill that would require a person to earn a high school diploma before he or she could receive a driver’s license. This may be a good idea to some people, but many disagree with this statement of law enforcement.
High school is full of many twists and turns and no one knows exactly what's going to happen in high school. There can be many things that can help to have a simple high school life but there is also things that can make it harder. I am going to be talking about three of my hardships I have faced during high school.
An obstacle I had overcome during my educational journey was my Freshman year the year I just wanted to give up. I wanted to give up because of everything that was going on outside of school and me missing days of school for what was going on. Which was the facts I had broken my dominant wrist, My father passed away, and my grandmother passed away three weeks later. My grades started dropping and I was ready to give up on school the teachers wouldn’t help me and I barely passed my classes. I was caught up in drama and felt like I couldn’t get out everywhere I turned .Then the next school year after one month of school I transferred schools. I was sad at first but I loved that I had escaped the drama. I ended up having teachers that really tried
Overcoming Obstacles Obstacles are inevitable and show up in the daily lives of everyone. It is, however, the way one manages these obstacles that will decide how much success and accomplishments they receive. Challenges may come up, but they can be controlled by persistence, ambition, and determination. Someone’s dream and the specific challenges may be different than those in this poem, but the message can apply to anyone. In “As I Grew Older,” by Langston Hughes, the poet uses symbolism, tone, and repetition to teach readers that in order to achieve a goal one must fight through any given obstacle.
Throughout college, there will always be obstacles that a student will face. Though some students make it through the semester without much trouble, I am not one of those students. It’s not always easy to get through the semester smoothly when you constantly have responsibilities to take care of. I get extremely stressed knowing that I have a big paper due or a math quiz that I need to do well on. If I have various assignments due at the same time, I usually tend to get overwhelmed. I deal with different obstacles on a day to day basis that can impede my success as a college student. Obstacles to my success this semester are poor time management, procrastination, and technological distractions.
When I was asked how will I be remembered in high school; I struggled to the find the answer to that question. From my perspective I do not feel like l stand out, but I have experience challenges and with the help of a strong support system I was able to overcome. My inner demons that I have learned to live with and daily beat is anxiety and depression. I have learned by talking to others I have that I am not alone. I used to feel shame and would hide from my peers
I had many challenges during my high school years I had many academic problems. One challenge I had was to present in front of the whole class I didn't want to do it but at the end I did.It wasn't bad I thought I was going to mess up I was nervous though.Second challenge was joining a sport I was a shy kid I didn't want to join anything but my friend encouraged me to play football so I was like might as well I don't lose nothing in trying so I went to talk to the coach and I joined. My frist day of practice was nervous because I didn't know anything about football but coach jose taught me well.It was a good experience loved every single moment I had fun doing it with my family the football team.Another challenge I had was when I was a freshmen and my first day of school I was nervous cause I thought I was going to get lost but I didn't so I was glad for that. Also I was nervous because it was going to be my first time going to high school so I didn't know what was it going to be like.So academic challenges where english because it's my least liked subject but I passed most of them so it's an accomplishment because it was hard for me.Another academic challenge was my sophomore year because when I was in football I was tired and forgot about my homework or got lazy to do it so it was hard but I knew I had to do it.Another challenge was my junior year I almost failed all my classes but I did some work and failed a few and did it during the summer to get my credits. These were some challenges that I faced during my high school years. Some were hard to overcome and some were easy to do.
The greatest obstacle I have had to overcome was facing failure. I have been in student council and leadership roles during every school year since 4th grade. So during freshman year of high school I was a student council officer and a member of the leadership class. It was obvious that I would continue in doing what I was good at by applying for the student council officer class as a sophomore.
In High School, students face many problems. Whether they're personal, school, or friend drama, students face a multiple of problems that they each handle differently. In my high school career, there have been a number of obstacles that I learned to overcome. The obstacles that I've gone through, mainly dealt with the health issues I've developed or was born with. Conditions that students deal with can interrupt their thought process during the school day or anyday. Facing a challenge, setback, or a failure, hurts students or people in general, in many different ways.
When I first arrived to the United States as a freshman in high school, I faced the challenge of being in a completely foreign place without knowing the language. I spent hours memorizing new vocabulary to improve my writing and communication skills. Eventually, these long nights proved successful: I overcame my language barrier and graduated from the most rigorous program at the high school level, the International Baccalaureate program.
