A Disaster Is Coming Ahead, But It was Unsinkable They Said
Background
The Titanic was known as the biggest, luxurious, and the“unsinkable” ship. On March 31st, 1909 the Titanic was being constructed in Ireland. It was about $7,500,000 to construct the boat. Then, on April 10, 1912 at 11:30am the largest ship known to man set sail from Southampton, England to New York, for a 2 week long voyage. When they set sail there was a fire in the coal bunker that everyone ignored. Before the titanic hit the iceberg there were notifications that there were iceberg ahead. When the titanic was sinking it broke in half with one side going down and the other side floated for a while then sank. The Titanic was remembered of its tragic sinking.
Thesis Statement
The Shipbuilders are responsible for the sinking of the titanic because of the rivets they used, the type of iron they used, and how they focused on the decoration of this ship more than the structure.

Out of 3 million rivets, half of the rivets were good Steel rivets and the other half were weaker lower grade wrought iron rivets, “The weaker iron rivets in the bow popped, opening seams in the hull—and hurrying the ship's demise(USNews.com).” This is affected by the rivets made the ship sink faster. Another reason why the rivets are important when the titanic, ”Hit the iceberg, the force impacted the heads of the rivet s to break(Historyonthenet.com).”(the weaker rivets) This wouldn't had happened if they used the steel rivets. After that impact the ship snapped in half. The section where it snapped in half was between the wrought iron rivets and steel rivets. The wrought iron rivets side is what sank
April 15, 1912 the “unsinkable” Titanic had almost three hours before it was no longer afloat, but plunged to the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean. Blueprints, journal & logs, and tons of witnesses were thoroughly inspected over the past 100 years to help solve the question agonizing question, why. For the 100-year remembrance of the tragic event, Smithsonian Channel released a documentary, Titanic’s Final Mystery. Dedicated Titanic detective and historian, Tim Maltin releases his theory on how the “unsinkable” sank.
On the night of April 15, 1912, the Titanic struck an iceberg causing the ship to sink in the icy waters of the North Atlantic ocean. The Titanic was known as the “unsinkable” ship. It was also bigger than its two sister, the Olympic and the Britannic. On April 5, 1912, Captain Stanley Lord commanded the liner Californian on a voyage from London to Boston, MA. Captain Stanley Lord of the SS Californian is at fault for the lives lost on the Titanic.
The Titanic’s maiden voyage was disastrous because the beautiful ship sank and many people died. One of the largest flaws of the Titanic’s design is that it was too big and not nimble enough to avoid the iceberg. In addition to the nimbility of the ship, some of the rivets were improperly manufactured and contained a lot of slag in the steel, which makes it more fracture prone.
The British luxury passenger ship, The Titanic, set sail on April 10, 1912, en route to New York City from Southampton (Lord ch 1). During her maiden voyage, midnight of April 15, 1912, she began to sink (ch 1). The Titanic had a collision with an iceberg that was around 100 feet tall (“Titanic: 40 Fascinating Facts” 3). Regardless to how greatly manufactured the Titanic was, and with beliefs that she was unsinkable, the miscalculation of human error proves that every possible outcome cannot be prevented, disasters can still occur regardless of careful planning.
As the stern of the ship went below the water it spiraled counter clockwise and piece by piece tore off every single
On April 2,1912 the RMS Titanic set sail on its maiden voyage from Belfast, Ireland to Southampton. The Titanic was 4 days into its exploration when the collision of the iceberg occurred. As the Titanic set sail on it’s maiden voyage, some interior work still needed to be completed. Some areas of the ship had no heating while the others areas where to hot. A team of about 9 harland & wolff employees, including the ship's designer, Thomas Andrews, sailed as members of a guarantee group, to make sure any problems with the ship were attended to. They as well perished in the sinking of the
The deluxe steamship, Titanic set sail from Southampton, United Kingdom on April 10, 1912. The Titanic was a luxurious ship that carried some of the wealthiest people of the world as well as emigrants searching for a new way of life, it was said to be a “floating palace.” The technology that was present on this ship was remarkable for the time period. It had high-tech capabilities and was one of the best accomplishments. As the palace was on its voyage to the Port of New York, it ran into a large iceberg. The impact was so large that the ship’s hull plates were forced inwards, allowing water to rush in. The ship slowly sank on April 15, 1912. The Titanic’s crash became the most iconic shipwrecks in history and grasped headline after headline. This paper has article reviews from James P. Delgado, David
The Titanic is one of the most famous ships known around the world as the once "unsinkable ship". April 15, 1912 the Titanic sank into the Atlantic Ocean on it's one and only voyage. The 825 ton ship can be found 400 miles off the coast of Newfoundland 12,600 feet below the Atlantic.
This would have strengthened the bow stern and although we are uncertain whether this may have stopped the ship from sinking, it would have at least stopped the ship from sinking as fast as it did. However we learnt a lot from the failure of the Titanic and because of this failure the maritime industry has changed the testing criteria of things such as metal plates and rivets. Materials must now pass a series of tests such as the Charpy test and other rigorous tensile tests. Tensile tests conducted in different conditions to show whether the material can cope with a series of different environments. Improvements in design of ships have also come about as a result of the Titanic; double-sided hulls were added to ships to prevent minor hull punctures such as the tears on the Titanic from causing major damage. Furthermore with the development of the metal welding industry, the need for rivets in applications such

A sort of calamitous failure in basic materials, fragile break happens without earlier plastic disfigurement and at amazingly high speeds. The reasons for fragile crack incorporate low temperature, high effect stacking, and high sulphur content. On the night of the Titanic catastrophe, each of these three components was available: The water temperature was underneath cold, the Titanic was going at a rapid on contact with the ice shelf, and the frame steel contained large amounts of sulphur. The first hint that brittle fracture of the hull steel contributed to the Titanic disaster came following the recovery of a piece of the hull steel from the Titanic wreck. After cleaning the piece of steel, the scientists noted the condition of the edges.
The Titanic was known for its title, the “Unsinkable Ship”, although it didn’t necessarily hold its title. The Titanic is a disaster that took place over 100 years ago, but yet still holds a huge part of our history. It is a tragedy that will live with our world for millions of years to come. This event is one of the many things in history that’s always stuck in my brain. My interest always sparks when the Titanic comes to mind. The sinking of the Titanic is one of the most well known disasters in history. Throughout this essay, I will show you how the Titanic is such a well known disaster.
In the early morning of April 15, 1912, the unthinkable happened. After hitting an iceberg, the RMS Titanic, which was thought to be unsinkable, sank to the bottom of the North Atlantic in over 12,000 feet of water. Of the 2,200 passenger and crew on board the ship, over 1,500 lost their lives. At the time of her maiden voyage, she was considered to be the largest ship afloat in the world.
The RMS Titanic; A Tragedy Based on Class. In April, 1912, the so called "unsinkable" Titanic set sail to New York. The great ship was as big as five city blocks, and weighed thousands and thousands of tons. Everyone who was everyone grabbed a room on the luxurious ship for the trip of a lifetime. On April 14, 1912, the RMS Titanic struck an iceberg an sank into the icy depths of the North Atlantic.
Titanic a true story, the story of the RMS Titanic, the actual event that took place on the night of 14 April through to the morning of 15 April 1912 in the north Atlantic Ocean. I felt it was so moving and real, I got to see actual real footage of the Titanic under the water, that's why it was so interesting to watch.
