Orthodontist are usually in college for 11-13 years. The typically spend 2-4 years in residency. Which is a program where they will observe and participate and learn how to do certain thing or job. Some educational requirements is Doctoral or Professional degree (CareerOneStop). Not required to have a masters degree. Recommended that you have one and better if you do. Complex problem solving is mentally challenging because one has to notice a problem and figuring the best way to solve it. For example when you apply the braces and need to tighten and put special brackets on the teeth you have to decide if this is going to fix the issue that is happening. Critical thinking has a huge part in this occupation because thinking about the pros and cons of different options and picking the best one.
