Abstract The used of fibre optic technology in subsea control system has impressively improved the communication capacity, quality and reliability. It provides large bandwidth, extend step-out distant with minimum error rate. This survey paper will focus on basic overview of fibre optic transferring data in communication system, key benefits of using fibre optic in subsea production control system, comparison between the used of fibre optic and cooper wire, key components and consideration of fibre optic design for subsea control and case study of Ormen Lange oil and gas production field that use fibre optic technology in subsea communication system. Introduction The growth of demand in oil and gas consumption has led to substantial investment towards the industry. New technologies and systems are introduced to increase the production of hydrocarbon. Field go deeper and isolate to explore new and extensive amount of oil and gas. That is why, subsea oil and gas discoveries getting popular. Advance technologies were used to overcome challenges and resistant, such as multiphase flow measurement, artificial reservoir lift system and intelligent monitoring sensor for well.
