An entrepreneur is defined as a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so. Perhaps one of the most successful and admired entrepreneurs to this day is Oprah Winfrey. From TV-shows to movies, magazines, and books, she has managed to conquer it all and become one of the most well-known and powerful people in the entertainment industry. Oprah had a very difficult childhood, almost from birth, after her parents decided to separate and leave her in the care of her grandmother. However, starting life on that isolated farm in Mississippi might have been the best thing for her. Oprah created a monthly segment on her show, similar to a book club, where she would choose a book and viewers could go buy and read it and then have a discussion about it with her. This innovative idea not only got people inspired to read and to watch her show, but also made her the most powerful book marketer and skyrocketed the sales of whichever book they were focusing on for that week. However, after a very long run, this segment was cut from the show during 2002. Since then, Oprah has become an Emmy nominated actress, a film producer, and the founder and subject of O, The Oprah Magazine. So, how has Oprah continued to succeed and grow while others fizzle and fade away after a few years? In past interviews, most of her advice for a successful career are based around not attempting to be successful, but simply finding your passion and what you love to do. Throughout her years on television, this is what she has done. Oprah originally had no end game, she was just pursuing what she loved to do and what she was good at. If situations were different, and certain opportunities had never come around, she would never be where she is today, but the hard work she put in everyday allowed her to grow
