What would you have done if you were stranded on a raft with two other men for 44 days with provisions to last less than 3 days? This is one of the easiest things Louie Zamperini had to endure in “Unbroken”, by Laura Hillenbrand. The most important thing to be learned from the life of Louis Zamperini is to never crack under pressure, because of his survival on a raft, how he withstood the cruelty of the bird, and how he survived through the torture of Japanese POW camps.
Robert H. Schuller once stated, “Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.” In the novel Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, Louie struggles with fitting in anywhere and staying out of trouble. He was constantly doing things to cause trouble and making mistakes. Pete, Louie’s brother pushes him to run to escape his troubles. Throughout Zamperini’s life, he gains perseverance which gave him the ability to survive through life.
“If I knew about the things I was going to endure before I was captured, I would kill myself.” (Louie Zamperini). The biography Unbroken was written by Laura Hillenbrand was told about the famous Olympic athlete and World War Two POW Louie Zamperini. Louie was held in a number of POW camps across the Pacific and witnessed the true horrors of the Japanese guards who enforced the inhumane standards throughout these camps. Louie shared his experiences about the endeavor and became an icon back in the United States, but was still unraveled from his time in the camps and his captors. POW camps were the areas of holding prisoners who had been captured and the POWs were supposed to be protected by the Geneva Convention about quality of life and labor, but the Japanese thought otherwise of the quality of life POWs should have while apprehended.

The element of war is seen throughout the novel Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, it is seen throughout the movie as well. In Unbroken whenever planes went missing there were search planes to look for those them. During this time of war in the novel, if some of the

I had planned on being a base and trying out as a base. One day Coach Ridenhour, the coach for the VJ cheer squad, asked if anyone wanted to try to be a flyer. I thought it might be fun to try, so I said that I would be interested. She put me in a stunt as a flyer, I was a little nervous because I had never done it before. As I was going up my heart started pounding in my chest, my fists clenched up, so many thoughts were going through my brain all at once. I thought I was going to fall, but before I knew it I was up and stable in the stunt! I could not believe I had got up there and did not fall. We tried it a few more times and each time I hit the stunt.
Now i knew the kid my brother had gotten hurt by was still on the team and this year he was a senior captain. He was 152 and i was a 160 pounder. I couldn't wait to see our captain go against him because i knew it would be a great match. We were losing throughout our lighter weights and i was coming up at 160. I was pretty confident i was going to have an easy match but when their 152 pounder didn't go out for that weight i got a little nervous because i knew i would face him. I went out against him and the whole first period there was no score. He chose bottom the next period and immediately got a reversal on me and it was 2-0 close to the end of the second i was able to get a reversal but got up and got one right away. Going into the third he was up by 1. The third period started and 20 seconds into it i got a reversal and was up 4-3. Riding someone out for over a minute is a tough task and with 30 seconds left he got a reversal and a point for me locking hands. The score was now 6-4 and i had short time to tie it up. We started back in the middle and i went to stand up as fast i could, he dropped me back down to the mat but i caught an ankle and came up on top of him
It all started on a sunny summer day in July, when I was 12 years old. 6 or 7 gangsters jumped me. They broke my arm, collarbone, and my orbital bone. I went home and my mom freaked out and called the cops. The cops couldn’t prove who did it so it just went as an unsolved case. My dad was worried I would get jumped again, so he made me go to the boxing gym right down
The next day we had an early out at school, and most people hadn’t viewed the video yet. But Wednesday was the best. Everyone was proud of me about how I knocked Mitch down. I showed them my bruised up spots, which included my knuckles from knocking Mitch out. I guess my mom and dad didn’t notice them because they never asked. Austin, Matt, and Carter were so happy that I hadn’t didn’t get injured for the
“Come on Kellie let’s go!” It was a week after school ended which meant summer time. Me and my best friend Kellie went to the same summer camp the summer after second grade. It was free time and what all the kids would do was play outside, “I’m coming.” Kellie smiled. I was rushing her so that we could get our favorite spot which was underneath a specific tree. It didn’t really mean anything it was just a perfect spot to hang out. Also I really wanted to show her a trick I had learned at the summer gymnastics program that I had done the year before, and it was… a cartwheel. As she sat down by the tree she watched me as I started out doing well and then my wrist gave out. I thought it was fine at first but when I moved it, it hurt really bad

During the knife throwing practice I was very nervous. Because, I thought I might hurt Tris. My throat was dry and I was scared of hitting her. I held the knives in my hands and my palms were sweaty, and my knees weak arms a heavy. Because, I was under a lot of pressure and if I kept throwing the knives all over the place Eric would of called me a wuss. I said to Tris, “You done Stiff?” Tris wouldn’t move away and let Eric take her spot or else he will take mine instead.
After a while, we started to play on a square shaped trampoline and had a lot of fun in the beginning. All of a sudden, my sister fell of and started crying really loudly. I immediately jumped off of the trampoline and ran towards wanting to comfort her, while my parents were also running over.
