Mary Elizabeth Bowser was born the year of 1839 in Richmond, Virginia. Mary was born to slave owner John Van Lew who was a well-off hardware merchant. Mary and fellow slaves were freed by Elizabeth and her mother after the death of their master John Van Lew who died the year of 1843. Despite the fact that she was considered a free slave, she chose to stay an work for the Van Lew family as a free paid servant. She was sent to an African American Quaker school in Philadelphia by Elizabeth Van Lew, during the year of 1860 tension with the Civil War began to brew so she moved back to Richmond.

From a young age Mae always enjoyed reading books but especially the ones on astronomy . In 1973 , Mae graduated as an honor student from high school at the age of 17 . After going to Cornell University Medical School , she uptained her M.D. . Four years after uptaining her M.D. she gained the courage to apply for NASA's astronaut training program . Old Yeller is a story of a boy with a lot of responsibilities and an ugly, stray, rascal dog who grow as one. I chose this book because the movie is one of my favorites and it is known as one of the best dog books of all time. I would definitely recommend this book for it's adventurous, sweetness, and loving the story line. This book tells of a boy who becomes the man of the house when his father left. After his father leaves, a dog shows up and was soon even though the boy named Travis didn't like him at first. As the story goes on, the strong and courageous dog protects the boy and his family, but can Travis protect Old Yeller?

This was one of my favorite books during my childhood days. The book is a classic, and Disney later made it into a motion picture. the story’’s climax develops quickly by telling stories and adventures of a boy named Travis and his old stray yellow dog named Yeller.At the introduction of the book Travis is plowing corn in the garden when an old yellow darts bye and causes the mule to jump. He chases the dog out of the garden and curses at him. Then a few days later the stray dog ate some of the deer meat that was very important for the family’’s survival. Travis was very angered and threatened to kill the mischievious yellow dog, but his younger brother, Arliss, would not allow this.

The word unwavering is defined as something that is firm, fixed, and unshakable. Wavering faith is not faith at all. True faith is firm and consistent. When I think of a woman with unwavering faith, I think of a fearless civil rights activist whose courage helped people gain the right to vote. Her name was Fannie Lou Hamer.

Jerrel Muse Jr is well rounded in all areas. When he was six he demonstrated strength in reading, writing, speaking, listening and math. Now that he is eight, his scores were average to above average in word word reading and spelling. On the verbal portion Jerrel Jr scores were all above the one standard deviation. He is also doing very well in math, he understanding the concepts very quickly is and working in a fourth grade math group in third grade. Jerrel now into soccer has a real knack for sports.
